All the featherington girls are so beautiful- but god those colors are incredibly horrid on them 😭😭😭
I know, they look like Easter eggs and peeps thrown up all over them. I think the bright colors were supposed to be symbolic as to romanticizing colors on paintings that represent fertility, desire, scandal, and innocence.

I mean... it was a different time. If I had no brother, and distant cousin might inherit my father's estate... do not suspect people falling for their relatives. They did not have understanding of inbreeding effects, so it all boiled to 1) is the heir good-natured, 2) will I live near people I like, 3) do I have better options?
Women did not marry just for their sake. Sometimes it was for sake of your sisters. If your father died suddenly, your cousin inherited, you could secure your sisters' future for years. Perhaps allow other to marry for love 🤷♀️
