If your looking for a good budget bow that doesn’t need too much tuning this is a great option
Excellent information. Appreciate you paying such close attention to detail. Also appreciate the honest opinion. Well done.
For some reason I don't have sound. Might check your end.
Weird, we have good audio across 4 different devices of ours when we check them after uploading earlier.
No sound either
@Jason Hoge very strange! I just confirmed from a 3rd party source audio is all good. Using headphones perhaps?
@@BetterOutdoorsarchery I been watching you tube all night every other video has worked I've clicked on this one 4 or 5 times nothing
@Jason Hoge that's so strange, must be youtube!
Great Video Dalton. Watching on tv at home the majority of the audio is coming from the rear surround speakers only. Honestly knowing your shop/studio Id bet eliminating external microphone and relying on your phones mic (assuming you film with your phone) will fix the issue. If using a fancy camera try a lower quality audio recording setting?
Would you recommend this bow or the bear cruzer g3? Also do you think bear is better than pse or diamond for the $400 to $500 price range? Thank you in advance
G'day Dalton, thanks for the video. Just a question for a new archer to the sport. On average how many fps do you loose from going from a 70lb draw to a 60lbs draw? Thanks in advance, and cheers from Australia.
thank you for this detailed review, I have two questions,
1. is there any difference between this one and the Bear Cruzer G2 RTH?
2. would you say that the going up in price to either the ADAPT or Resurgance, would be worth spending the extra money over this one? thanks in advance for your answer
Thanks for watching!! Let me help on your questions
1. This bow shoots IMO significantly better and here is why front my perspective as we have sold both. Now we do not sell the Legit because the Species EV stays in tune better, has a far better backwall/valley/letoff and has more than enough adjustability.
2. Skip the Adapt, it is not worth it. Go with the Alaskan or Resurgence. Our video for those bows similar to this video will be out in a week or two. We have much to share! We keep those all in stock as well.
@@BetterOutdoorsarchery definitely appreciate the reply and advice. I will wait for your video on the Resurgence and make a decision from there. You’ve gained a follower !!
What size peep would you recommend for a 27" DL? The one that came with is indeed a little too small for that draw length. 1/4 or 7/32? Thanks.
I love your channel thanks for all the great information… I have a question, in your estimation how does the Species compare to the 2012 Carnage in value etc….
asking for this on Christmas, my dad has recently been going in this local bow shop and i went with him and he's been looking at that bow and they have it marked up brand new and he asked about it and told me to go grab his phone from the truck after they told him the price and they said the one on the wall is just a show and he'd be getting a brand new one, pretty sure he gonna go pick it up another day but i'm sure i'm getting it, not gonna get my hopes up but he's got a new bow, i dont 👀
This is one of the best single cam bows maybe ever.
Can be bought under $350 and it is dead accurate under 50 yards.
With some minor upgrades it's a beast.
If it was good 20 years ago and killed then it's still good.... I'm just your average hunter I'm sold
I can not here you talking dalton on this video the introi herd but thecwhole time your talking about the bow i cant here you buddy
I can not hear you !
Wow, Very informative and detailed information on this package, 👊 Great job, so many videos out there that don’t get you this information . Well Done Sir
Hey mate
Apologies if it’s in the Video and I missed it, I’m wondering what the accuracy is like? What sort of group could be achieved?
Any change you’d shoot a 550 grain out of a 70lb @ 28 and let me know the speed?
Great review, so far I like the bow, it's smooth shooter and quiet. I killed a decent buck with it last year.
You are spot on with the peep site, when I purchased it originally they never tied it in and it moved on me and was hard to sight in if not impossible, since I've had that corrected.
Ridiculously great value in a bow whether experienced or beginner!
This is not an “entry level bow”!
This is a wide range of use bow!
Thank you for your candid review of this bow .
I have a question and it may fall into your extended coaching platform . But I will ask anyway and respect your response either way .
Is there a preferred method for reducing cam lean ?
Is it possible to achieve no top cam lean and not derail the bow ?
I did but custom strings from GAS custom strings this year . They are made well .
Thanks for your time
I have the species Ev RTH 2022 and it dos have 2 timeing holes at the top of the cam. Next to the cable and string they line up at max weight and 29in dr. Now when i setup at my 45lbs dr weight and 25in dr. They are off some should I add twist to the buss cable to time??? Thanks
While your timing does change when you shorten the draw length from the cam taking up the string and cable differently, I wouldn't get too carried away or you'll have a nasty high tear through paper and a nasty low fixed blade broadhead at 20yds. Some of these bows do have that happen on the shorter draw lengths regardless what you do on timing though. That's why on the average we recommend a mechanical or move up to the Adapt/Resurgence to shoot a fixed head best.
Just picked one of these up here in Canada, it's at the shop now getting set up, I can't wait to get it back.. it was already shooting really nice out of the box
Can I use the same 1/4” peep, with a 26” draw?
I currently own and shoot a PSE Premonition HD. I have been debating on getting this bow for a while now. Would I be disappointed in it after coming from shooting the Premonition?
Yes you would. Go take a look at the Bear Resurgence or Alaskan. Those are very comparable to the Premonition.
How do you check the cam rotation on this bow? Thanks
Arkansas has some funny names for their towns. I remember going to Toadsuck to buy comic books, which is about 12 miles from Pickle's Gap.
I see your Toadsuck and raise you Weiner and the road near there, Weiner Cutoff
Been on the fence about this bow or the Whitetail, supposed to be the same bow basically just the name change , shooting a PSE Stinger Extreme and PSE Ramped now but want a Bear as well .
I would definitely go Species EV or if you can, go to a Resurgence/Alaskan
Great review. Just purchased this bow and plan to do some upgrades to it. What specific cable slides do you recommend?
We are impatiently waiting and hoping the new Adapt+ cable slide will be available as a stand alone item. In the mean time, the PSE Roller Glide is hard to beat.
Ok. I see the one on the Adapt + bow. If its not available for purchase soon, I’ll go with the PSE. Thanks again!!!
no sound
Good evening sir. My wife tried your video on her phone with the same no sound results. She put it on bluetooth and a headset which worked. Does anyone have any advice for an older non-techy fella.
That is such a strange issue to have. I have no clue how to cure that one!!
@@BetterOutdoorsarchery I will try the bluetooth function and a speaker device later and hopefully get caught up on the vids my phone has trouble with. Thanks again for taking time to respond. Have a blessed Lord's Day.
Yeah I have no sound either
@@ClickClickDirt I ended up plugging into speaker with Bluetooth and it picked up fine. It is definitely worth the time to watch(see - hear). Happy hunting.
U had me sold with this video
Yes , as mentioned by others , I appreciate your honest review .
I have a 2020 Bear Species EV . Is there timing marks/holes on the bottom cam that I should pay attention to . Looks like two holes in the bottom cam .
Are these for checking cam timing ?
Thank you .
Thanks for tuning in!!! Speaking of tuning, they don't have "timing holes" per say so it is a bit of a challenge to get the nock travel smoothed out. If you are having high or low paper tears/broadhead impact vs field point, I wouldn't get too crazy adding twist to the cable.
@@BetterOutdoorsarchery thank you for responding. At 38 pounds I yoke tuned to no cam lean at full draw . Center shot ended at 11/16 “ from riser . Arrow runs even with burger button holes .draw length is 26.5 inches . Running Victory V Force 500 spine arrows. 404 grains total (125 grain field point included in total weight). With all of the above I achieved a bare shaft bullet hole at 10 yards . However. The brace height is now 6/34 instead of 6 1/2 “ .

Please do a review on the new Bear Legend XR.
We considered it but with the Alaskan/Resurgence being such a superior bow despite their similarities, we will not be doing a Legend XR review. The Alaskan & Resurgence reviews similar to this one will be out soon!
What release were you using here?
I believe that was the Truball Rave
@@BetterOutdoorsarchery I was thinking that or the b3 archery exit.
What's the difference between this bow and the Bear Adapt?
Basically the Adapt is this bow but with a Resurgence riser. Honestly, the Resurgence and Alaskan are significantly better tuning, shooting and speed capable than the Adapt. Hope that helps!
@@BetterOutdoorsarchery I thought they were close to the same but I figured there was some difference besides the name. I'm actually debating on buying the new Mathews Phase 4 but it's going to lighten my wallet close to $2500 for the way I want it. It's almost completely like the way you set yours up with bow and string being the same but I think I'd probably just put on a Trophy Ridge React digital as my sight.
Thank you for your help and have a great day
I purchased this bow just before Christmas. This video is a great confirmation as the upgrades you mentioned, I have already done. I chose this bow, Veil camo, simply because at 62 YO the poundage I pull decreases a small amount each year. I can adjust this bow for years to come. Overall I’m very happy with this bow. Easy to tune, compact and looks good. Thanks for your videos. I enjoy your reviews and I did order the Bear grip from you, but have yet to install it. Lots of various game here in AZ, so this bow will get lots of use. Thanks again!
Sound doesn't work on my phone but works when I watch it on RUclips through my Xbox one
