I understand that many instructors want to cover all different type of workout for the entire body in one fitness class but I am sorry that's impossible! If you want to do push ups in cycling so just get a yoga mat and do it properly, if you want work out your legs doing isolations in the bike just go do some squats with a bar. But please don't mix everything. I have never seen a rider doing push ups in his bike because that is the idea of cycling, simulation of riding a bike in a different roads like hills or flats.
Has nothing to do with being old fashioned! What they do is not fitness it is a show off! Not healthy will not lead to anything. And those are not pushups those more like back extentions.
