I would recommend the upper Mist Trail section if you haven't done it already. Our family hiked this portion a few years back but going downhill (we had started at Glacier Point that morning and took the Panorama Trail). You will be MUCH closer to Nevada Fall which is quite beautiful. Years ago in Girl Scouts, and also going downhill from Glacier Point, I took the JMT portion. That was 40 years ago and I STILL remember how beautiful that was. This summer, my husband and I have a permit from Tuolumne Meadows to Happy Isle which includes summiting Half Dome (bucket list item). We plan to take the JMT the entire way so I will get to revisit that section into Happy Isles. Happy Trails!

Good to hear! Sounds like I have a solid plan for this year then. Enjoy Half Dome - it's really an incredible experience! I'd recommend bringing some gloves for the cables if you weren't planning on it already.

I think nature might have given you a nudge... Rockfall has closed the upper section of the JMT to Nevada Falls indefinitely

I saw that! I think you’re right! Hopefully it opens at some point this summer for other hikers to enjoy, but I think I’m pretty set on the upper mist trail at this point 😊
