Thanks so much for all your amazing tutorials and for being so supportive to people trying to learn this skill! I have a question about finishing…
So, no matter how quickly post soldering I clean the pieces I work with (and when I’m cleaning I rinse with warm water, then use a scrub mummy with dish washing liquid and warm water, then use flux remover… so it’s cleannnnnn)… once I then put patina on (and rinse that off), then polish with the stuff my local glass store sells… I’m still getting that white residue after a day or so - some people call it rot or mould…
I’m running out of ideas in terms of how to prevent this from happening. Any suggestions as to how I can prevent this from happening as i don’t want to gift people these items with this issue :(
This is so nice. You did a great job taking the confusion out of what you want to buy! If you are new to glass, this is extremely helpful!!! Great job!!
Thank you so much!
Julie that's exactly what we like to hear. Thanks for your input!
I can see the casting net project in the background!! I hope we get to see the progress on this one!!!
You bet. We arevloving the process!
I learned so much in the first 4 minutes already!
I've used the Hako iron for a number of years now. I understand the cord is short, I use an extension cord with it. My thinking is if you're using an iron with a reastat that's your extension cord. I set up a small coat hook up to the end of my table to hold extension cord off the floor so not to drag my iron off the table. That's for the grozers showcase.
Forgot to add the Hako iron comes with a little wrench to turn the reastat knob.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you very much.
You are welcome!
Nice job on this video showing what tool to use for what function Ed & Barb...! Very informative...!
Glad it was helpful!
I`ll have to try the Leponitt Grozing pliers too, besides the small breaking pliers. Thanks.
They are great!
I am going to get them.
Get a pair of 6" Fletchers and you can cut a break a thinner strip than any of the ones you show there. I have used them for many years and love them.
Yes good reliable Fletcher products are a great option but we love the new Silberschnitt Runners too.
What are the forearm sleeves for?
