It's not abt konoha, everything that happens to Uchiha Clan is a fault of Uchiha clan themselves. All that happened to stop civil war and to protect a lot more lives of people from konoha. Thats why itachi choose to do that. even his mom and dad agreed. He definitely should be imprisoned for what he did, but i do agree he deserved better, maybe thats why kakashi let him go and make him travel instead

It was kinda sad, I think Sasuke deserved to be compensated for what Konoha did to his family, not to be imprisoned.
