    Hi Vas, I've had my Cheetah now for about a month and have had only 3 to 4 runs. I love it. However, the other day, I took it out for a run and started having what I thought was signal range issues. The buggy would stop and pulling the trigger to apply power would achieve nothing. The buggy wouldn't move. Then it would start to move slowing, then pick up and then everything seemed back to normal. Thought it was the overhead power lines playing havoc with my signal. I picked it up off the ground and pulled the trigger a couple of times and everything seemed fine. Any way, decided to do a jump the other day and my left front wheel nut came off and the wheel/tyre went flying. I finally found the nut which was good and then I found the right rear shock slipped right off past the nut. I went home, put the wheel back on and put the shock back on only to discover that it's going to need washers all round to stop the shocks from slipping off pas the nut. (Very unusual) The nut is not large enough to stop this. I then discovered that I couldn't move or push the buggy. Could not turn the wheels front or back, almost as if a stone had lodged somewhere to stop all movement. I took the spur gear cover off and moved the motor pinion away (which was a very tight meshing also). I thought it was this at first. Then realized that it was to hard to move/turn the spur gear by hand. Something has changed. I experienced this before I did the jump as I was only running it on flat grass and nothing was damaged prior. My signal range problem was not a signal range problem at all. The car was having difficulty moving because of the spur gear issue I have just described. Have you or anyone ever experienced this. I have to open up the diff now to check what's happened. The car has only been run about 4 to five times now. Bit disappointed. None of the youtube videos describe going thru any of this. Hope you can help. Cheers and keep up the great work.

      Hi Vas, thought I'd update you also since my last post. Nice to have met you in person by the way. I was the guy with the Vkar Bison at the park the other month. I found the problem. For me anyway, it was not the slipper clutch. Nothing to do with it. There is a bearing behind the spur gear for the drive line shaft that dislodged itself. It wasn't sitting straight anymore causing friction against the drive line shaft along the center of the buggy. This is the shaft connecting the front and rear differential. This is why I couldn't move/roll the buggy freely forward or backward and which gave the impression that the spur gear was to tight. Nudged it back in place so it sat nicely again inside the cavity and everything is back to normal. Hard to spot and easy to think the slipper clutch or diff might be the issue, but it wasn't that at all. Hope this helps.

      Richard Cerni As a new owner of a cheetah I'm gonna keep this thread in mind. Thanks. How has the cheetah held up?

  • @richardcerni9996
    @richardcerni9996 7 лет назад

    Hi Vas there are a couple of areas to be wary of that I have noticed. Firstly, and depending on how you land, the front bumper keeps coming out from underneath the chassis when you tend to hit the ground slightly nose down, even though the front wheels absorb the shock eventually. It's an easy put back in to place affair but continues to be a weak point for me.
    The second thing is the wheelie bar - if you land with the nose up and continue to land on the rear wheels, the wheelie bar tends to take the first knock and full force of the smack down back to earth. Apart from eventually breaking off, it forces additional pressure on the rear shock tower with a tendency to bend it slightly forward sooner or later. I've found that the body mounts don't match up the holes anymore like they used too. The bend is only slight but happens. Not sure if any one else has experienced this yet. Apart from that, I love the car and it has plenty of power and potential, as you say.
    I'm also thinking of using a thinner rear diff oil to soften the tendency to wheelie the car so easily. On grass you can back flip this thing from a standing start.

    Get a change to do any further tuning/mods?
    I have a Cheetah and the Badlands transformed it. Looking into the steering, all of the linkage is plastic, and deforms quite a bit while steering. I'd be interested in seeing what alloy parts might be able to be fitted.
    Also grabbed a Castle ESC for 60% off yesterday to remedy that.

  • @garszy

    Hi Vas, thanks for another running video.
    I think you could even go with some tyres with pins, I love my Badlands but sometimes if find they bite too much, especially cornering often rolling the car. maybe some Holeshots or Blockades. I know your going to look at your shocks and servo next.
    I'm no expert but maybe take a look at your diff fluids as well. Just to balance out the driveline it still seems very skatey in the front end.
    Regards
    Garszy

    I bought the Badlands with desperado rims factory glued from a Aussie hobby shop, $150 with post. They lasted 3 months before the tyres came away from the wheels. Re-glued they would last maybe two battery packs. My RC is a Hobao Hyper SS Truggy with vanguard XL motor very quick. Anyway proline sent me replacements from the USA after sending them pictures. These tyres bloat terribly if your wheels leave the ground at speed.

    Hey Vas,
    I dont know if you still know me. I have been a big fan of the show last year and kinda missed the most videos of this year, cause I stopped bashing and focused on racing. I'm now enjoying my summer holidays and with that little bit of spare time I found back to youtube and your channel. Still great videos here and I see your driving got better, your skills too! I was wondering if you ever thought of freshening things up a bit with a new intro and logo for the channel? I think it would be a cool little thing to change :)
    Now to the video. It looks like the car is a little bit oversprung. Dont know if you mention that in the end of the video, still watching haha. So I'd grab a set of just a tad softer springs or even just adjust the shocks to gain a little less ground clearance. By doing that you should get a little more steering up front which should help in the corner after the ramps. If that doesnt help it's time for some diff oil changing ;)
    Greetings from Germany :)

    • @richardcerni9996
      @richardcerni9996 7 лет назад

      Hey Chris, your little issue with the drag you describe as you try to roll it backwards and forwards sounds like my issue. If you happen to read my post up top, it sounds like I might be having slipper clutch problems too. I disengaged my motor by sliding it away from the spur gear and there is that much drag when I try to turn the spur gear with my hand that the free wheeling movement backwards or forwards is gone. Is the slipper clutch causing this?

      Depends on how you do it. Anytime your driving slow under load where the clutch is slipping it will wear on it. If the clutch is in good shape and fully engaged driving up a hill isnt going to make a whole lot of difference. Of course it will wear more than on flat ground but i personally dont think youre going to notice a lot of difference as long as you're driving correctly.

      Hey Vas, do these wheels with the badlands tyres fit straight on the cheetah with no modifications required - ie: so I take off the stock wheels and bolt on the badlands?

      Richard Cerni I'm curious about that too. How about any extra strain on the components from switching from stock? Vast? Thanks

    Hey Vas,
    I dont know if you still know me.
