- At the end of a long days filming with www.hothatches.co.uk Chris insisted (honest) that I had a go in this fantastic lotus Elise 220.
At the outset - it looked like a recipe for disaster - British B roads - winter conditions including sub zero temperatures - low light and an inexperienced driver... What could possibly go wrong!
Described by EVO magazine as beautifully simple, pleasingly compact and bristling with energy and feedback as it was when it was first released 26years ago. I know some cynics will argue it hasn’t changed and developed but if like me you enjoy driving you will be pleased! Could this be the perfect antidote to modern cars without feeling in the slightest bit decrepid or outdated!
Power is dealt with a bullet proof Toyota engine that produces a perfect 217bhp meaning 62mph is reached in 4.2 seconds and the top end is a licence losing 145mph but being this close to the floor it feels quicker and is guaranteed to make you smile!

Nice video. Sold my 997 for one. I ride sports bikes, over 6ft. The Porsche was just a car and dull. The Elise is small, so you can fit on B roads and is simply fun. Faster too on a UK road. Still nice to be different and actually drive.

I bet it was a great experience. What happened to the sound? Was this from the media mod? Did you forget to turn off wind reduction?
Sound at the start is awful chap as I had the blowers on full tilt trying to get visibility as car was fogged up.
Had to rush due to lack of light - does improve drastically if you hate with it 😛
@@CarMadDad I watched the whole vid. Just sounded very tinny and I was wondering if it was due to the media mod as I’m planning to get one for my channel. I’m hoping to have a go in 350s as soon as it will get warmer again. Lotuses are special aren’t they.

Sound was difficult in there and I would usually have used a lapel mic to help - some of this was fixed in the edit but my limited skill set is probably to blame 😂
Trading the Porsche in for it ? 😂

I sold my 997 gt3 and bought one - absolutely brilliant - much more fun
Sold 997 for an elise. Make the fat German feel very boring. Im over 6ft and ride sports bikes, Elise is the only way to get a buzz in a box.
