The Wiggle That Killed Tarkov

  • After reviewing the clip extensively, it is more likely that the user "HostilePuppy_YT" could see me in his POV, and cheating is not likely. He was the guy who shot me through the mountain. I feel terrible for this mistake. This affirms my stance that I will not be releasing any more footage from the experiment. He has been very understanding and I will address this publicly in a future video.

    Man this is going to stir the pot. Someone hand me some popcorn! You did a great job on the video. Something I would of loved to see was more detailed statistics of the experience. My only fear now is every creator is going to go replicate this video for views and then the whole integrity of creators will go to shit. Guess we will see.
    Edit: for the people misunderstanding what I mean about integrity of creators - First person to do in a proper informative manner (g0at) can get away with it. Every person from here on is doing it for the wrong reasons (any creator who makes a video the same as this to be informative).

      Nothing to fear, you guys are the voice of the community. Noone will listen to me or the next nobody just trying to enjoy tarkov when we say cheaters are ruining the game. If something is to be done about these issues, the creators must come together and bring this to light, show BSG that tolerating cheaters for the sake of profits is not a way to go forward. Too much is too much. Or we can all just pretend there aren't cheaters in at least half the raids and let this circle of madness continue until the last legit player quits...

    • @baycosinus
      @baycosinus 2 years ago +254

      The motivation for the cheating is being the strongest one in a session. Remember any MCU or DCU movie where two heroes meet for the first time. They don't like each other. At all.

    • @jesterclownmime
      @jesterclownmime 2 years ago +91

      @baycosinus lolwat, comparing cheaters to heroes. Superheroes are standoffish in first encounters because its the easiest excuse to have the two face off to entertain fans in a what if scenario. Terrible analogy.

    • @Fischbroetchen2k
      @Fischbroetchen2k 2 years ago

      @baycosinus the motivation for cheating is having a smol self esteem and even smoller pp. People should stop even remotely acting like there is any justification for cheating and start treating cheaters as the small dick loosers they just simply are. Like seriously not even going salty mode here, cheaters are just pathetic and should know it since they already deep down feel like it we should do everything to confirm it for them to realize.

    • @romuluscreative
      @romuluscreative 2 years ago +59

      @baycosinus lol no the motivation to cheat is being a terrible gamer and and crying for attention to pretend your good at all.. which obviously arent.. Thats the nice way to describe a cheater.

    • @Ken_Murakami
      @Ken_Murakami 8 months ago +3

      I've stopped playing Tarkov around four years ago, but recently came back to it. The only reason I started playing again is because they added PvE. A few months later, I find this video-only to realize that the reason they added it was because this went viral, and the devs knew they could no longer gaslight critics and that sales were going to drop.
      "Welp. That's it for this game. We should just release the game (even though it's not finished) and move on to the next project. But before that, we should add a PVE mode. (And charge players for it)" It sounds crazy, but they actually had an incentive not to publicly admit their game was full of cheaters. They kept it secret, knowing full well that people were going to be outraged.

      The worst thing you can do gloat about how your game is uncheatable, they'll accept it as a challenge and wear it like a badge of honor. After all, breaking the rules of a game is not even a foreign concept in gaming culture, some games even encourage it.

      The worst part is if you look back at other cheaters doing this kind of video showing their jank cheats you really cannot tell if any death was legitimate or not. Wether it's desync, a jank aimbot that's slower than players reaction, or just straight cheating and playing it off well. Hell ppl can be just using radar to easily locate you and still have to use their fps skills to kill you. It's soo bad.

      @Lawrence417 no i been cheating for years and only ever lost accounts on purpose when i was figuring out with trial and error how BSG manually bans. since i figured out a formula im prestige 2 with kappa on a 2k hour account that ive been exclusively cheating on since hour 0, perks of being in a super close knit community! only a handful of people have access to what I have access too, very secretive so you know the risk of detection is super low. legit been undetected since release for years. they have logs that are updated when x product gets ban reports, this one has 0 other than manual bans from IRRESPONSIBLE CHEATERS.
      the take away is IF YOU CHEAT **RESPONSIBLY** WITH GOOD CHEATS, you will NEVER be banned.

      Would like to add to this just to keep this comment going and make sure people who watch this video in the modern day are kept up to speed, give likes to TheRealRoty's post to keep the post up so people are aware of the current state of the game.
      Here to support the statement that they still haven't done anything about the cheating problem, the terrible optimization of the game, the pay to win aspects, and have continued to disregard their players. They spit in the communities face with the Unheard Edition being a big scandal that even the news commented on at large. People with the best PC rigs struggle to get stable frames at 60 FPS on medium to high settings on several maps. And there's more I won't even get into, there's a lot you can pull out over the span of so 8 years the closed beta has been out for, so don't give Nikita the benefit of the doubt.
      Don't support Tarkov, support the other extraction shooters that don't ask for 40 dollars MINIMUM, BSG (and mainly Nikita since he is the one that decides every bad decision like the Unheard Edition) have had 8 years to listen to the community, and instead did their best to ignore it all and do the bare minimum for the community, time and time again.

      A lot has changed. Every sane person that watched this video has successfully "Escaped from Tarkov" and haven't looked back since. Also SPT-AKI community grew like 10 fold, last time I checked like a year ago, it's probably even bigger now. A single player version of Tarkov with extensive mod community to rival biggest modding games like Cyberpunk and TES series. Where you can take out all of Nikita's brainrot out and enjoy the game how you feel it.
      I quit the same day this video was posted and the only Tarkov I've played since then is SPT.

Go play on streets 50 times, or reserve, you'll find out real quick that there are cheaters.

      Yes, it's all about the overall size of the sample. Up to 10 matches versus over 100 or 1000, we'd have a really decent idea where 10,000 matches should stand. Even then, are we going to sample randomly or would there be a much different result when teams or clans get involved...

      Sorry but it was totaly bullshit...
      This is just no real Player-experience! LISTEN
      This 60% per Map means that there are only 5% of PLAYER are cheater, cuz u have 10-14 PMCs per map - just mathematics.
      AND i will never see whos cheating like him to hunt them.
      AND i will never meet all of the 10-14 PMCs per map like Counter Strike, max half of them.
      This facts he just did not think about. So Tarkov dosent have a cheater problem, it has a cheater-call problem...
      5% are just not much guys!
      After all we even dont know on wich server he played...
      In statistics there are a lot more cheater on russian servers then europe for example!
      He gave us just 5mins of uncomment raw informations with that stupid 60% but tonns of clickbait-video-material.
      His Video will push cheating and cheat-calling and is just toxic for tarkov.
      I hope u can see guys, not everyone can do good studis, even if he is a cool guy......

    • @GeekOfAllness
      @GeekOfAllness 2 years ago +43

      @Ok-um5ho It's not generally hard to find pirated copies of cheat programs, so a lot of them probably didn't pay for it. But given how many different cheat programs there are advertising pretty steep prices, it's likely a lot of people are paying for it.
      Given that the cheats are selling in the range of $100 a month, not many 8 year olds could afford to do it, and they're not likely to get away with using Mommy and Daddy's credit cards undetected. So you're mostly left with nobody but 30+ year olds.
      And there's always the simple argument that if you think a couple bucks on a cheat program is a big issue, maybe you should get a better job, slacker. While I don't have that kind of money, the fact is that people who can afford these cheats are actually doing better financially that those who can't, which implies they're actually doing better at that outside world thing than you or me.
      I do feel like you're projecting here a bit though. People playing games with cheats doesn't in any way suggest they're addicted to games, nor that any "high" they get from gaming requires cheats.
      It's more like someone who just plays on easy mode, which is statistically more likely to be someone who isn't terribly good, and therefore someone who doesn't actually play that much. I.e., the opposite of someone who is addicted.

      Exactly that's where they will be kept isolated and will not buy new game again, but developers don't do it because if cheater gets banned they will buy the game again.

      @Legoldos the market should also be separated. So cheaters will play and trade with other cheaters in their toxic little world. And non cheating part of the game will be healthy and cool. Everybody wins

      Impossible. That implies they can detect every cheater at all times to be able to match them together. If they can do that, they can just remove the cheaters to begin with.

      @timmeke_8213 That's the point of the video though. If he gets banned for making a video... cool... but you're still left with all the other cheaters he just showed exist, because they're probably not going to catch a ban, and if they do they'll just grab another account... knowing how cheating communities work in other games, and how many people have dropped this one, it probably won't even be a new account but someone else's who stopped playing and either sold theirs or got phished for it.

I’ve wondered how I’ve gotten worse at pvp over time (thought I was losing me reflexes, probably am) but in all the time playing I’ve only reported 1 player once for suspect play because I acknowledge I’m crap, but now I’m gutted after watching this.

      Apparently it’s too lucrative for them to stop it, so instead you have a cycle of cheaters getting their way for a few months, eventually being banned, then repurchasing, all by design to keep recurring sales.

    • @Sixtyten6010
      @Sixtyten6010 2 months ago

      @Evenstephens76 Exactly, They even used to have a page on the BSG site for bulk purchase discounts. I'm not talking like 3-5 copies of the game for your battle buddy's. It was like huge discount for buying 20-50 copies or something ridiculous like that. Tell me who the hell that was meant for? who is buying that many copies of the game at once?
      It's tinfoil AF but I really do believe that BSG works hand and hand with the cheat devs or even possibly are the ones who release the cheats themselves just to ban the cheat users so they buy another license. Normal players are literally just cannon fodder for no life streamers and for hackers doing paid sherpa runs or RMT'ing. That's why BSG makes the game so stupidly and unreasonable grindy to encourage cheating... Bet they make soo much money from a select few whales who pay for RMT or hackers to clear lobbies for them. They are russian after all... russia is nothing but corruption, its just how things work there... I wouldn't trust any russians ever.

      Learnt it on CS. Made a similar "investigation" since i wanted to prove a friend that VAC was worthless (I'm talking maybe 7 years ago, don't know now since I haven't touched the game for a long while).
      No aimbots or anything. Just my years of experience, ESP and exclusive casual matches. As long as people wasn't suspicious of me...i had no issues. Then i decided to make it more obvious (looking at walls following people etc) and after people started calling me out for it...i finally got banned.
      That's the thing with cheaters... people expect some dude spinning around like the tasmanian devil and headshoting everybody from miles away. And while that is a possible scenario... Most cheaters won't be very obvious about it

    • @JuSSayZ
      @JuSSayZ 3 years ago +16

      [LONG POST. TLDR AT THE END]
      When I found this out last year I felt the same way. At that point I clocked about 850 hours into the game over the previous year. There were always moments when I thought “wow that death was so sudden, there’s no way I could’ve possibly reacted to that,” but I considered the fact that perhaps the Tarkov player base was just that good, after all I’d lined up a few hundred clean headshots myself at that point and knew how quick death could rain in Tarkov.
      Then I saw a similar video to this and it was terrible. I actually loved this game, and still love it, but now whenever I play it I just get sad because I know that the game and I myself as a player will never grow. Growth can only happen when every player is given the same opportunity to survive, but I could be the best Tarkov player in the world and die in 40-60% of my raids just because I don’t have ESP and the next guy does. I could go on a 10 kill game and then load up and die in the first 10 seconds. There’s rarely an opportunity to survive when you might’ve died in Tarkov, because so many of your deaths come from hackers.
      I even began thinking that it’s a conspiracy, the issue has existed for many many years now so it feels like battlestate isn’t taking any issue. They made changed to the black market that prevented hackers from profiting as much, but in reality the ones who suffered the most were genuine players. Hackers can survive raids easily, players have a much harder time surviving raids in lobbies full of hackers, the amount of loot that players can sell on the black market was drastically reduced whereas now hackers just need to bunker down in raid for an extra 10 minutes and they can sell everything they looted.
      It appears to me like battlestate is fine with the hacker issue because after the hackers sell their rubels or keycards online, they get banned and buy another copy of the game and do it again. The existence of hackers incentivizes players to buy rubels online, because they lose all their gear and money dying to hackers and then they want a little more just to keep pushing for another month. This way, the hackers profit off of an issue they created, and battlestate profits by allowing it just long enough for the hackers to profit and come back again to profit some more.
      TLDR; Battlestate Games pimps out their players to hackers, hackers which then profit off the players desperation to stop being pimped. Battlestate doesn’t sell games, they’re selling a business venture to hackers and software developers. For hackers, buying a new EFT account is just like buying a tool to replace windows, BSG is the manufacturer of the tools and the person who sold you the house next to the hacker, the player’s either move out or pay the hackers to fix the windows which hackers broke.

      I remember if they had multiple servers, it would save your position. So when you got the drop on some players, they would take cover, disconnect after getting your position. Then they would reconnect on another server in the same spot, flank you completely safe from fire, jump in your server and shoot you in the back. Not a hack but still cheating by gaming the system.

      With what he is showcasing, basically advertising what cheats could actually do to "help" especially when you suck at the game, is probably doing the opposite of what he is intending to do. Know his heart is in the right place, but he's basically giving free advertising for the hacks out there.

    • @JoshuaHaasua
      @JoshuaHaasua 3 years ago +31

      @Gaetano.94 disagree. My take away from this is why so many people refuse to come back to this game. It’s a extremely common issue swept under the rug and ignored by the developers. It’s the number 1 problem facing the game currently, next to connection / desync issues. I never once watched this and thought “I need cheats”.
      Unless Tarkov decides to take this issue head on, most of the community will shy away from the game.

    OLD Timer here: The thing that messes with me the most is as the years went by my deaths in the game became more and more suspicious. There were many intense pvp fights where I would know where they are roughly by using sound and just wiggle at the wall towards their direction and some times they would just run away..... deep down I had a feeling something fishy was going on in Tarkov and then the wiggle that killed Tarkov came out and all my my instincts were validated.

    This explains so much. I played this game for about 2 years, was never "Great" at it, but I was probably average. I remember so many of my deaths being the typical "How did they even know I was there?" Deaths aside from the other "Ok no idea where that dude shot me from". This also explains times where I would go AFK and hide my PMC in the most obscured vacant location, only to come back after 10 minutes to the post raid lobby to see a PMC killed me. There were so many instances where that happened. Seeing how common the cheaters are in this video, confirms my suspicions. I'm glad I stopped playing this game last year.

      @JKLOLOMG1101 i played a bunch of old fps games competitively for years and have seen tons of cheaters in different contexts as a result, tarkov's cheats ramped up a lot since the flea market got added considering people could make money off of it. it's been fucked ever since then, i don't know percentages but i'm willing to bet at least half of tarkov's cheaters are people who do it purely for RMT reasons

Sometimes you could think you're just bad, but when you're pretty sure you were stealth and made quite no noise, and got killed the short moment you're in sight of another player that you couln't see : it's reasonable to think that there is something else than just skill.

      @BigMcLargeTrav Tarkov is way worse than most, the fact that the game is client authoritative makes cheating extremely easy and virtually undetectable in many cases. There are potential avenues they could take to mitigate this but really don't seem too interested. Rather they make bandaid fixes like making it harder to participate in RMT to decentivize for-profit cheating. Doesn't have any impact on the majority of cheaters who only do it for a recreational advantage though.

      Good. BSG has been sitting on their hands for too fucking long. I quit playing the official version when it became apparent that BSG wasn't going to do anything significant to stop the cheaters. The offline mods can be lonely and less challenging by a wide margin, but at least I can play the game without worrying about getting aim-botted and wall-hacked.

    • @comrade171
      @comrade171 3 years ago +6

      I think your putting it mildly, the % of cheaters in EFT is 75%-85% of the total players and BSG is ok with it because for reasons unknown to almost every commenter here (myself included) lots of ppl like playing this game with cheats, if BSG "fixed it" (remember fixing it doesn't mean patching the game it just means allowing cheats to be detected) their total player number will go down, BSG won't fix it ever and I'd bet a months salary on that!

    • @control_the_pet_population
      @control_the_pet_population 3 years ago +6

      Is it going to be difficult to overcome? Isn't this the norm? I am asking legitimately because I gave up PC multiplayer FPS over a decade ago... because cheaters were rampant and it was just no longer fun. At one time, privately ran and somewhat moderated servers were a common thing. Cheaters existed but they were easy enough to sniff out and ban. Once that stopped being a common thing because the publishers needed everybody in the company servers for MTX and silly achievement trinkets... I knew it was all downhill and I nope'd out of the genre.
      So I guess I'm surprised that anybody is surprised by this content... I just assumed that this would be the norm... that everybody involved in these games just deals with it. I've played maybe four hours of GTA:Online... and was killed by griefers a bunch of times... and probably a few cheaters... and then was showered by money hacks by another half dozen cheaters. I seriously did nothing be get wrecked while occasionally pocketing millions of hack dollars. It was a bizarre experience. As far as my old man gen-x ass can tell, online gaming is a wasteland.

      @KvltKommando 3 years ago

      @control_the_pet_population The only thing you can do is play games with servers with active admins. There will never be an anticheat to stop every hack because new hacks come out and can't be kept up with and never will be. Sometimes admins ban legit players but sometimes an admin is the only way to get rid of a hacker before his hack is added to the anticheat database because they can watch a player and tell when he does completely fake bs a real player would never do.
      GTA Online is a cesspit and always because the developers couldn't be fucked to balance the game and wanted to sell Sharkcards and other garbage, they'd rather make money off the players who want to to pay to be overpowered than to make a balanced enjoyable mp game. I'd only ever play GTA Online on a private server with friends but even then, it's far less fun than I had with the SA-MP mod

      @ImThatCatYT To be fair, they can just steal the radar ESP and just have it play back the last minute of your life, a rough map, and the same LOS feature the cheaters have.
      Die after being in someone's LOS for less than a second ? You know who you're dealing with.
      Not even memeing too, they probably have all the informations needed server side, and it would avoid having to create an actual killcam which has to be more trouble than most people think it is.
      And it would give us, legit players, some peace of mind, knowing this particular death was simply an unfair fight.

    I honestly am broken after watching this, knowing that my routine/tactic in maps is likely being seen by people and they are just ignoring me because I don’t have something they want or I’m not in their way feels so demoralising.
    It invalidates everything about the game and it’s direction. The worst part is (like Luke said) is this ‘bro’ attitude they have. Like ‘us’ versus ‘them’. There’s no respect.
    I do love this game. I learnt how to build a PC and playing tarkov was partially one of the reasons why because I was so tired of the triple A generic shooters. I wanted something with an atmosphere where the tension is overwhelming…and knowing it’s all tarnished as badly it is really is painful. Thank you for making this.

    When I first played Tarcov it was great. Truly immersive experience.. then I came back 9 months later. I had been given a nice specked out weapon as a promo, I hid in some grass not moving, I wasn't gonna lose this thing, Suddenly some guy came running up behind me and stabbed me, he knew exactly where I was. The second round I got the drop on two guys, approached slowly, 1 then baited me while the other poped out less than half a second later for a headshot, nobody could do that if they were surprised. 3rd round I heard someone moving around.. I didn't move for 3 minutes and just waited rifle pointed at the door from the room corner, he blew me away instantly. It's ridiculous that a game about realism is just a battleground for people robbing the intention of the experience. I miss that original experience alot.

    • @j4ck3t
      @j4ck3t 3 years ago +8

      First example, yea cheater for sure.
      Second example? you have to understand you make a lot of noise when you walk, I really think these two heard you.
      Third example is peekers advantage. Depending on the patch it can be real bad, it is real bad right now with the current patch, was bad 3 wipes ago too. Being aggressive rewards HEAVILY in this game, you have a very big advantage.
      This is why it is so hard to discern legit players from cheaters. If you play a lot, you will know what is possible and what is impossible. I can tell you from experience, gun fights don't end in 10 seconds. Sure if you play with friends, 1 might get dropped but even against veteran Tarkov players, you have a proper battle.

    • @blakearius
      @blakearius 3 years ago +11

      @j4ck3t Yeh I can't be 100% sure on those last 2, In that second instance. I had stopped moving and was camping around a corner. While they were running around full speed seemingly unaware for at least a minute or 2. It was a perfect ambush spot, there was no easy way to flank me but I'd still need to be lucky for them to come my direction, just a big box in the middle of the mall alley, out of nowhere they went quiet, 1 peekabood from the right side of the box super quick while the other head-shotted me from the left all in less than half a second. It truly felt like I was punished for being extra careful and sneaky instead of rushing them before they noticed me through the wall.

      Get good. Cheaters or not by the small descriptions I noticed you are a passive player that doesn’t like to move alot. In eft that player is often a dead player

    Confirms everything I've suspected all along. So often in Tarkov I had situations where I thought to myself: Impossible that my opponents always knew so exactly my position. Now, unfortunately, everything makes sense...

    Someone did this years ago, but looked at Labs specifically. He went on a large number of raids with ESP and saw that nearly all raids had at least one cheater in it.

      I did this in 1999/2000 with Quake 2 and counter-strike. Found plenty of cheaters. This is why I started playing coop games with some old guys around 2008. I can only imagine it's much worse now. Back then not alot knew enough to build a nice gaming PC. The community was smaller and better. Now every lil dickhead is online. I mostly stick to Coop / MMO now.

      @kingoietro99 Disturbingly miserable. I'm miserable, and cheating in games would give me literally nothing because I'm not a sadist. Cheaters are pretty much just horrible people who want other people to have a worse time, and that's how they get enjoyment.. Horrible mechanism in a horrible brain.

    • @demjan96
      @demjan96 3 years ago +2

      @12thejsm but the problem with cheaters is hilarious right now. I played before 1 entire wipe, the one from the start of 2021 (or end of 2020, dont remember) and on that wipe I reported literally only 3 people, the 1 guy I was sure he is wallhacking, and the other 2 I was almost sure that they were cheating... I came back to this game this wipe and gues what, I don't remember a single day when I Havent played with at least 1 cheater, fucking hell I've played even with guy who was spinboting, I thought that this cheat is only in CS games. The problem with cheaters in online games is real, but that problem in EFT is on another level dude.

    Cheaters are the reason I stopped playing the game. Played it since 2018, but haven't touched it this wipe. I know Tarkov has many cheaters, but I didn't know it was this bad. Made me question everybody. Got really paranoid. The ear-deafening silence from BSG about the severity about this problem is just a big slap in the face. Are they actively trying not to adress this? You, g0at, have done a lot to bring this issue to light. Thank you!

    • @gradeyundery4939
      @gradeyundery4939 3 years ago +10

      bsg posted the standard pr answer on reddit, made it sticky so everyone has to read it. its just a joke. "we do everything we can" "there are soon coming new updates" "its your fault for not reporting" "now report more so every cheater gets banned" "thank you for bringing the attention to an already know issue"
      the good thing is that they are too stupid to give a real response and will lose a lot of players and hopefully have to get some anticheat because videos like this will be now everywhere on youtube.

    • @Mark-O-V
      @Mark-O-V 3 years ago +1

    • @bansita7377
      @bansita7377 3 years ago

      @Mark-O-V BattleEye sux for sure, but BSG is responsible for using them instead of someone else. Also, a replay after the round close where you can spectate other players would really hurt the cheaters.

      @gradeyundery4939 What's funny is it is the exact same format from posts that were made years ago about cheaters. Nikita is being eviscerated, even on the fucking reddit, for it.
      I'm absolutely loving this. Like, I've fucked off from Tarkov for awhile and haven't even been on Tarkov-related content on RUclips or reddit over the weekend. I went and ate some IHop this morning, went to a gun show (Note: M1 Garands, Mauser 98's, and many other older weapons are much smaller than you'd think IRL), did a bit of shopping, sat through a tornado about an hour ago, and now... Now I'm blissfully reading that BSG, Tarkov, the reddit, and everything has gone fucking NUTS in the last day or so.
      Quite a turn of events, and it's only Sunday!
