See that's why I wanted to see your take on the topic... your stories and relayed history are great, and your choices are all great. Really need to revisit Chaos AD though I remember that New Model Army cover always being the high point for me haha, and Biotech is Godzilla. Also need to revisit that Macabre, it's been fucking ages since I've heard it but used to swear by it. Great video as expected man!

Love it, Angelcorpse was what got me into full on blasting death metal back in the day!

I also got into death metal around the same time. It's cool to see the differences and some of the similarities in everyone's lists. Chaos A.D. had such a huge impact on my life at the time I was introduced to more extreme metal. I got into I by total chance, I signed up for one of those CD clubs for like $.88 or something and you get like 20 CDs and they sent me Chaos A.D. to try and I never looked back. To this day I owe a debt of gratitude to whoever decided to put that CD in my order. But I digress, nice video and thanks again for giving me new music to hunt down and listen to. You've got a similar taste in music and I always find you recommend something I missed or just never even heard of. Thanks again man \,,/,

Great video. As for Macabre. Firstly well done for saying it properly lol, so many people say it with the re on the end it does my head in. Grim Reality was an early album that got me into it.

Exterminate is one of my favorite DM albums to this day. It's just relentless. You can't go wrong with any of the first 3 Angelcorpse albums.

Surprised to see Meshuggah on here, I never gave 'em a chance, and you pretty much explain why! Oppressor rules, and so does Morgue... but one thing about coming to this shot so late is I've had some invaluable guidance from vets like you! And I don't think Domination is bad at all.

This is a really different list to all the others I've seen. Good stuff!

Oppressor fuckin' kills dude! Great fuckin' pick. Tech as fuck, great musicianship. They really give the Florida giants a run for their money.

yet another Brainsmasher "music-ception" moment : "The Red in the Sky is Ours" & "Domination" were also a few of my very first as a middle school aged lad. Especially "The Red..". I had no idea who ATG were or their influence or nothing upon the acquisition of the album from Borders in like '03-'04. That cover and the song titles just spoke to me. I also remember terribly attempting to play along on guitar to where the pick was just a lil' nub & having my index knuckle just bleed all over the strings. Not even aware of tabs existing, or that they sure as fuck weren't in standard tuning lmfao, just being young and naive. Then "Domination" blasting on a nice ass home setup one of the very 1st times I toked it up...how could I NOT fall in love with it?!? you da MAN, Ben!!!

It only took me hearing Napalm Death Death By Manipulation to get into death metal. I was so fascinated by the vocals and blast beats that I bought anything that was similar.

Eucharist may have influenced some bands, but I think it is more likely that those bands were influenced by At the Gates. The early At the Gates, I mean.

The Macabre album was also one of my introductions into the extreme. I had a roommate that used to play it a lot in college. It is difficult to pin down but I like it.

My first death metal record was Obituary's slowly we got.I was floored by it's heaviness in 89.Favorite during early 90s was malevolent creations 10 commandments.kinda sounded thrash.

Cool concept/vid. Mostly cool bands/albums all in all. And just a minor gripe, I wouldn't consider Meshuggah or Fear Factory DM. But whatever not a big deal. And I always found Krisium boring. My albums are more typical. First 3 albums were Spiritual Healing, Arise and Tombs of The Mutilated.

matt w well I see where you're coming from but since it's about albums that got me into death metal, I thought it fit.

matt w You do know that arise isn't death metal either. Thats a thrash album.

    • @mattw4461

Edgar Sanchez yeah, with Arise they were blurring the lines between death and thrash. Beneath the remains was definitely more thrash.

I dont like to hate, but lots of those arent death metal, id would have said extreme metal, but still, pretty good idea, thumbs up

    • @brainsmasher666
      @brainsmasher666  7 лет назад +1

Miguel Fernandez Millan well that's not hate, but I didn't say that these were all death metal. that's actually not the point of the video. Some of these are merely albums that led me in the direction of death metal.
