- I cut, propagate and Root cactus pads in this video. I have an opuntia ficus-indica cactus in the garden that I wanted to propagate and use it as a bank stabilizer and a fence. Here I show you how I cut and root a Nopal or penca cactus.

That is amazing!
Totally
Always super interesting and informative! Wow!
Good ol´opuntia ficus-indica, eh?
Thank you for this video! I was just gifted some Nopales and was researching on the best way to propagate them. I will definitely be trying the methods you provided in this video.
Thanks Jesse. Sorry, I just saw your message. Don´t know how I managed to "love" it and didn´t reply. I just uploaded an update video. Here´s a link if you are interested.

No worries! I have watched your updated video. Thank you!
@@Jesse-FenixRizin No, thank you!
看了很多影片都只有切下來放土裡.沒想到這影片還有幾週甚至幾個月後的實況可以對照,非常好.證明了這個方法是可行的.
Thanks for commenting but I don't understand.
@@BriansGreenGarden I watched a lot of cacti propagation videos, but they just cut them off and put them on the soil. I didn’t expect that this video would also show the actual situation weeks or even months later for comparison. This is very practical. It directly proves that your method is feasible!
Thankss for watching. I will have an update video coming out in the next few days. Thanks for your comment. Garden on!
I have two large patches of prickly pear that are suddenly dying (4000', SE Arizona). I wonder if it could be the result of herbicide spraying by nut farms next door.
Oh, that´s too bad! How old is it? I´ve heard they have a life span of about 80 years. Similar to us humans. Herbicidal spraying is definitely a top suspect though. Overwatering? All the best. Hope things turn around. apps.cals.arizona.edu/arboretum/taxon.aspx?id=891
@@BriansGreenGardenabout 25 yrs old. drought for at least 5 yrs. Should mention gophers are a problem.
Gophers!!!!!😡😅

Hi Akeleven. Here is an update video I just uploaded. Check it out if you have a chance. How are yours doing?

I’m about to plant some at my house, Did you let the cut dry first or did you plant them as soon as you cat them ?
Right on! I had them on the ground with a rock within minutes. They are doing really well. They've been there for about a year now. I could see how callousing them would improve their chances by preventing insects, mildew, viruses or whatever entering and making a home. I've been lucky perhaps. I've seen a couple spots that may have rotted a little but by this time I think even if the original pad were to totally die, the new pads are well established enough to make it on their own. I imagine it's quite dry where you are. If you had a lot of rain or over watered them, then I could see possible problems. Otherwise, they will callous up on their own while laying on the ground. Do a little experiment. Some yes, some no, and let me know how it goes. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂. Garden on.
Hey there Joeordz! I just uploaded an update video. Check it out if you like.

How can cactus pads propagate like that??? So magic!
I'm with you on that.
And they make a great natural fence
Have you got one?!
