Partying and praising are 2 very different things; and adding Christian expressions doesn't make it godly no more than when Bruno Mars sings "Hallelujah" in his song about uptown funk or when it's added to the lyrics of a song in a Shrek movie. The Bible says we can't love 2 masters. We have to hate (be out of fellowship) with one and love the other (loyal, faithful, & committed) to the other. Nothing is on our own terms. You can "get your groove on" & be blessed b/c God reigns on the just as well as the unjust. But it doesn't mean that you are in a no compromise disciplined separated FULLY. committed relationship with Him that brings God glory. So, no we can't belong to Christ and be halted between 2 opinions. Something can feel right and we still know it's wrong; and it IS wrong of it's not right from every angle. Putting a "Hallelujah" sticker or tag on something doesn't change its content. Sorry.

You can be more of the traditional type, someone else the contemporary type and I'm more of the middle who appreciate both. I totally agree with you. I was raised under old school ways. While I don't agree with every old school way, I don't agree with this. Old school says you can't do anything at all because it was a sin. Everything is not a sin. God wants us to enjoy things in this life, but with a balance. We did not know back in the day, how to balance. I know today, some things that I did not do back in the day I do them now BUT according to the Word of God. I believe that you can dance, but not inappropriately and definitely NOT in an inappropriate place or environment. But that is different than a praise unto the Lord. It is very very important to have an active healthy relationship with God in addition to you reading that WORD. If not you will find yourself going in all kinds of directions that are not of God. I don't believe that people are reading that Word and having an active relationship with Gid. And they go hand in hand. The scripture says be in the world but not of it. And the scripture also says that: all that is in the world is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. And just to make it clear, the lusting part does not just pertain to lusting for sex. We can lust for material things that we don't even need. So if one is functioning in those manners (and we all do at some time or another)we got to check ourselves.

I can say that when I lost my eldest son and didn't sleep a full night. I asked "God what am I going to do, please Lord I need your help?" I heard what do you need? I said " to be held and to know I will be alright" I then felt an internal hug. A hug that calmed my soul. The tears stop, nerves calm. And then "I asked what now!" Then I heard rest, so I did! Partying and praising are 2 very different things; and adding Christian expressions doesn't make it godly no more than when Bruno Mars sings "Hallelujah" in his song about uptown funk or when it's added to the lyrics of a song in a Shrek movie. The Bible says we can't love 2 masters. We have to hate (be out of fellowship) with one and love the other (loyal, faithful, & committed) to the other. Nothing is on our own terms. You can "get your groove on" & be blessed b/c God reigns on the just as well as the unjust. But it doesn't mean that you are in a no compromise disciplined separated FULLY. committed relationship with Him that brings God glory. So, no we can't belong to Christ and be halted between 2 opinions. Something can feel right and we still know it's wrong; and it IS wrong of it's not right from every angle. Putting a "Hallelujah" sticker or tag on something doesn't change its content. Sorry.

I totally agree with you. I was raised under old school ways. While I don't agree with every old school way, I don't agree with this. Old school says you can't do anything at all because it was a sin. Everything is not a sin. God wants us to enjoy things in this life, but with a balance. We did not know back in the day, how to balance. I know today, some things that I did not do back in the day I do them now BUT according to the Word of God. I believe that you can dance, but not inappropriately and definitely NOT in an inappropriate place or environment. But that is different than a praise unto the Lord. It is very very important to have an active healthy relationship with God in addition to you reading that WORD. If not you will find yourself going in all kinds of directions that are not of God. I don't believe that people are reading that Word and having an active relationship with Gid. And they go hand in hand. The scripture says be in the world but not of it. And the scripture also says that: all that is in the world is the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life. And just to make it clear, the lusting part does not just pertain to lusting for sex. We can lust for material things that we don't even need. So if one is functioning in those manners (and we all do at some time or another)we got to check ourselves.

This man does have a beautiful voice and I know we are all free to worship how we see fit. I just found myself confused on the song itself.
I can say that when I lost my eldest son and didn't sleep a full night. I asked "God what am I going to do, please Lord I need your help?" I heard what do you need? I said " to be held and to know I will be alright" I then felt an internal hug. A hug that calmed my soul. The tears stop, nerves calm. And then "I asked what now!" Then I heard rest, so I did! I have been awesome ever since I felt his presence. Pray, it works! As My Daddy said, " Got a problem, Go to Knee college"
