This video had gotten me through 3.5 months of training. I had the music playing at the start of every long and short run. I visualized making a right on Hereford and left on Boylston. I can't believe all this hard work will pay off in 2 weeks. Thank you for uploading this. It's helped me stay connected to my deeper why. #BostonStrong
This feels like watching an 8-bit or a 16-bit NES or Arcade game that features you as the runner. I would have definitely played it. Think Atari, or even Sega Genesis. Love the video, the effort, and the music. As a 3:24 marathoner from Cbus, my goal is to BQ someday.
Thank you for completing. I'm battling some minor knee pain going into next week's marathon for my first Boston and I wanted to see the course. My qualifying time was 2:59:21 so I was anxious watching and so glad to see you persevere to finish. Great job and thank you for the inspiration!
Recording with the a GoPro was a great idea, turning up the speed was creative, the photography was just fine, your comments were entertaining, and above all congratulations on finishing in a respectable time and overcoming your injury.
Thank you for posting this! I will be virtually running the Boston marathon on my treadmill alone tomarrow and this made me feel not so alone. I loved being able to see the race!
Great video, great annotation, and great spirit! Thanks for sharing! And you're right about 2018 ... it was miserable, but that also made it memorable.
It's really neat that I appear in your video starting at 2:32 (grey hair, yellow/green singlet, and blue spibelt). Congratulations on your race! Boston is always special, no matter how your race goes!!
I watched your video through! It was a wonderful reminder of this amazing course! Also, you are my hero for persevering and deciding to gut it out at the top of Heartbreak! I hope you get to come back and run in 2020 based on your Chicago time! And you are right, that Mass. Ave underpass in mile 25 is just mean! lol Congratulations, again!
Great video! Thank you and so sorry your knee packed up on you. I ran the same day, came in a little over an hour after you did. Right on Hereford, left on Boylston...that run down Boylston is something I'll never forget. Thanks for capturing so many scenes of the day, I could see exactly where my family showed up to greet me along the way!! Thanks and hope you are healed up by now!
Erik. Fabulous video. Heroic effort in the circumstances. I'm a Boston newbie. This video really gave me a good sense as to what to expect when I run in 4 weeks time.. Yikes...
I made your video with two of my friends on the first Newton Hill. My first Boston, I tore my calf muscle at mile 7 and had to finish 19 miles afterwards so I know what it’s like to have a long way to go when you know it hurts. This was my fourth straight this past year and first under three hours. Now I have a video of part of it, thanks!
Thanks for recording this and glad you finished - what a great way to experience the course. I ran the prior year when the weather was horrible. I’m in it again for 2020, and am hoping for a better day.
Great video! You started out at some pace, even the half marathon time was impressive! Gutted for you at the same time nothing worse than race day and an injury.. well done 👍

Omg this is awesome! Thank you for sharing your Boston Marathon with us! Loved it…. Sorry about you knee… but you still did awesome in my eyes! I’m running Boston in two weeks…. Boston2024 🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🏃♀️
That's pretty awesome. I'm looking forward to running it virtually on the course this year, then volunteering for medical on the actual race day. Thanks for the preview of what I'll be doing (much slower than you).
Awesome video way to dig deep and finish! I posted a potential qualifying time for 2021 back in early March (3:44 buffer) and while I'm training / waiting to see if I make the cut, I have this on a dedicated playlist just so I can get familiar with the course.
Great video! Watching it brought me back to that day on that grueling course. I was much slower though. Glad that you sticked out to the end. Yes, it's Boston, a hard earned place on that course; can't quit! Hopefully your knee reovered soon after. Training for full marathon is like walking on the edge of being injued.
My dad used to work in Boston and his condo he stayed at was on the route. At mile 22.83 in the video, the large condo on the right is where my dad used to live. I would watch it all the time when I would visit him
Wow even after you speed it up and part of the race was cutout due to battery issues the video is still longer than I can run... well when I say run I mean 20min 5k pace run but still this is crazy
Thanks! Time and mileage were added with a program that I wrote for myself. I manually noted down the time and mileage at a few key points along the course and fed this data into the program. Then it produced the graphics as you see them. But there are also programs that can do this using the data from your GPS watch, for example Garmin VIRB.

Great video! I saw myself in the corral and when you passed me in Ashland! How is your knee feeling now? I really loved your "technical term" for the splits! LOL
Thanks for watching! So it really was you that I saw, cool. I wonder when you ended up passing me again. My knee is not good, I'm probably months away from a return to running. I don't regret it though.

Those are some really nice words, thank you so much! I'm happy that the video was useful to another runner. Wish you a great race tomorrow!

@@mpelletier62 yes and no. We get to re enter our qualifying times for 2021. We did get a refund.

It's a year later and I just watched this for the last time before I get on a plane tomorrow for my first Boston. Thanks again
It's a year later after your comment and I just read it and I'm now replying. How was the race?
I'm just worried about where to park since I'm staying a few cities away and driving in 🤔

I'm wondering if runners have a traffic rule for their road races?
As in, is passing on the left and traveling runners stay to the right?
That'd be great, but I don't think there's any rule like this.
Felicitaciones, tengo una experiencia similar... pero como comentas, a fin de cuentas, vale la pena!!!

The 80s nintendo music is perfect
Actually 90s and Sega, but I agree!

Cool video! Did you feel like the drink stations were too busy to grab one at any point? The station at the 2 mile mark looked like a zoo.
You are insane, my best half was 1 hour 43 minutes
What counts is how hard that effort was for you personally! Running is very much an individual sport and everybody has their own limits.
man you are strong
Good shit
i can barley run 1 mile at a 7 min pace..
Way to stick it out
This is what looks like when we were once sperms racing haha. Nice run btw!
They're such snobs about cameras.
