HMG lied to us at InRange in 2016, saying they'd have one to is in 2017. They brought us out to the facility to see ours being made and then sudden switched gears to CETME-L kits to make the trip not a complete waste of time. I am sorry to see this project fail, and I hope everyone who made any form of pre-payment to those liars got their money back.
Was so excited to hear when PSA picked this up, and am sad to see it shelved. However - I’m glad to know that you’re not pushing something substandard into the market. Hope this makes it someday as a viable product!
Sucks to hear but i get it, and really appreciate the honesty. As an engineer I i know how bad it can be to get a project that just has cascading problems, on top of a design that is ambitious, and originally designed for different manufacturing methods fro. 80 years ago. Still excited for other future PSA products.
Thats depressing to say the least, the stg was the reason i heard about this company and was so excited about PSA and what they do, well, generic ARs and AKs will have to suffice
And that's the kicker: AR's, AK's, HK416's, SCARS, etc. are the only rifle platforms that still get profits for all upstart and veteran companies simply because that's all customers mostly ask for that can be easier to manufacture at record speeds.
I’d love to see a video on all of the development and challenges y’all have faced with this. From a technical and engineering standpoint, that sounds like a fascinating video.
Well, it seems now that the only place to get a STG-44 will be D-K Production Group, which currently has working hard to bring their version of that weapon, and now has plans to fully manufacture it in the U.S. For now, everything will be JAKL; Vuk; X57; modular shotgun; AKSU; 300BLK AK with adjustable gas block; and something that I wish to see: DDR STG-940 clones with the correct furniture and JMac Customs gas block/front sight and Type 56-2 and Type 84 Chinese AK clones.
I was excited for this one and I was really hoping you would get the FG 42 next but I’m also happy that y’all are at least speaking to us whereas other companies won’t say a word on what’s going on
Thank you for the update. I was excited about the STG but I think it will be a novelty gun for most. What I'm truly excited for is the .308 JAKL. I love my regular JAKL and can't wait to have it in .308. Love your company. Huge PSA fan here.

As much as this is a dream of both my brother and I, being WW2 history buffs. If it is not ready it is not ready. Half baked is not the way. And being a smith, knowing the complications of recreating this is not the problem but a reliable effective and cost effective solution to a modern representation of one of history's more/most recognizable firearms of its time; is no easy task. The foundation was paved and better fruit is to be had with effort redistributed as technologies, methods or materials need to still be worked. All part of R&D and a big part in why PSA still today has a place as my first and definitely not my last!
Crazy that a gun easily mass produced >80 years ago and that we have all the blueprint/specifications for, isn't something that can easily be reproduced with modern technology and manufacturing!?
Good call to shelve it. I can't imagine the sales will be worth the hassle. Those that really want it are going to buy it, but I don't think there are going to be that many to make it pay off. Brownells ran into this when they came out with the AR-180 and watched it run it's course sooner than hoped.
thats insane, its not palmetto's fault i mean they just aquired hill and mac gunworks which had spent almost a decade on it already, can't wait to hear all the details about what a scandal this gun was someday
you can buy century arms AP5 (made by MKE on actual H&K tooling) or MAC for around $1100, just get those. Its probably not worth it for PSA to try to undercut that price point.

@@lordsteppergod7269 Yes $1000.00 + another $5200.00 for a total of $6200.00 if you can actually get your hands on one. It's also only in 8mm Kurtz from what I have read, not 5.56.
@@lordsteppergod7269 Which company?
HMG managed to fail everyone twice, impressive
Thank you for being honest and transparent. Y’all are the opposite of politicians.
Honesty is the best policy. You know how to keep your customers happy, even when their sad.
Thank you for being truthful instead of giving us a faulty product.
Great to hear Palmetto isn't willing to put junk on the market. Thank you guys so much. Look forward to this in the future!
Our pleasure!
You don’t know too much about PSA do you?
@@Veritas419PSA has a lot of accounts making sympathetic comments. They literally trolled everyone for free advertisement and clout and didn't deliver.
Well, thought disappointed I must say I am honestly impressed with y’all’s transparency through this. Thank you for the honesty and I hope yall can make some headway eventually.
Again, thank you guys
Not the news I was hoping to hear, but definitely appreciate the transparency. Hopefully one day 🤞
Was wondering what was going on with it. Thanks for the public update, much appreciated.
You bet!
I'm seeing it in other comments, "transparency," along with honesty and communication, convey your respect for the customer and raise your reputation. Thank you. Please keep doing these updates. This should be the standard to which every corporation is held.
The update is: it's dead... shelved/deceased/ ended/TODT... you'll never see one from PSA.
I appreciate you guys not pushing something on us that doesn't work. However disappointed I am, it is very refreshing to see a company be so honest with us. Keep up the good work, PSA!
Holy shit an actual update?!?
Look it’s not what I wanted but at least you told us
At least there's one manufacturer who's being honest upfront with its customers 🎉
I guess I will have to be satisfied with my Mauser version in .22 LR for now. 😅
Thanks again for the transparency. 😊
Right on!
There is a 9mm import version I forgot the brand I'm sorry I think GSG
@@GreasiestGuidothat’s the MP40, not STG44.
Yeah, the Blue Line Solutions Mauser version in .22 LR is what I ended up settling into from last year. At least it exists and it really works, just not as dramatic as you'd expect. Still it's a fun bulky plinker!! 😎
DK Production Group makes a high quality one now in the USA in 8mm Kurz, but it's $6,000.
The fact that yall keep us updated instead of in the dark is legit. Props to yall for the transparency
Sounds like Hill and Mack all over again
Palmetto will always be my favorite gun company. There are for the everyday working people
Glad y'all are keeping people in the loop. Keep up the good work
We will!
A modern day company that’s honest and transparent? 👏👏🎉
Thank You for your honesty !! 👍
Always!
The news makes me sad, but i greatly appreciate yall keeping us in the loop. Cant wait to see what else yall have coming down the pipeline!
Honesty. It is respectable.
Well we sure do appreciate you guys trying to bring back a legend and keeping things real and transparent. Some things are just more complicated than others. No worries on this side though as ya'll have lots of great weapons to choose from.
I'm glad you didn't release a broken product. Honesty always wins the day
You know, as much of a bummer as this is I have a lot of respect that you guys give it to your customers straight. Have bought multiple guns off palmetto now and have always been happy with the quality and service. Your AKs are great. Start selling FRTs!
This is NOT how I wanted to start the week, but as someone in leadership I can really appreciate the honesty.
It sucks as I was sincerely looking forward to this project coming to fruition, but I also understand the need to shift to the needs of the customer base, all the while ensuring that as a company you stay profitable.
Thank for the honesty team PSA and keep on keepin on!
I’ve followed this since it was Hill and Mac and remember in updates they would sporadically give all the issues they would run into, I’m not surprised that this is going to take longer than anticipated.
HMG lied to us at InRange in 2016, saying they'd have one to is in 2017.
They brought us out to the facility to see ours being made and then sudden switched gears to CETME-L kits to make the trip not a complete waste of time.
I am sorry to see this project fail, and I hope everyone who made any form of pre-payment to those liars got their money back.
you lied and said a polymer pistol that is lighter than the full steel version has less recoil
Ew Karl
2A 4 MYBAWLS
You lie to men that think they're women. Pobody's nerfect.
and even worse, when you went there they stole the kasarda drill too!
When this comes out I'm going to buy 1 🔥. No rush PSA take your time.
Just dont let it be forgotten in the back corner for all eternity.
it will be, the HMG design is busted and in development hell, it's never coming
Was so excited to hear when PSA picked this up, and am sad to see it shelved. However - I’m glad to know that you’re not pushing something substandard into the market. Hope this makes it someday as a viable product!
We hope so too!
Sucks to hear but i get it, and really appreciate the honesty. As an engineer I i know how bad it can be to get a project that just has cascading problems, on top of a design that is ambitious, and originally designed for different manufacturing methods fro. 80 years ago. Still excited for other future PSA products.
recreating the STG44 is the capstone of every gun company.
Thanks for the transparency, keep up the great works.
Just for the honesty and the hype behind the stg 44. I subscribed, love the transparency to the customer.
No worries PSA, u guys changed my life/hobby. We love you !!!!!❤❤❤❤
We want the stg
I’d love to see a video on all of the development and challenges y’all have faced with this. From a technical and engineering standpoint, that sounds like a fascinating video.
I don’t think that project will come back off the shelf
I know one day you’ll have it…Y’all do some great stuff at fantastic prices!
I think I'm going to order theirs d k I was hoping for a bit cheaper version but guess that no longer available
What about the PSA bullpup?
@@sentinelseven Possible by next year.
Turkish firearms manufacturers would have sorted out this year's ago at 50% less
I was excited for this one and I was really hoping you would get the FG 42 next but I’m also happy that y’all are at least speaking to us whereas other companies won’t say a word on what’s going on
Maybe if you renamed it to the MP44 it would make a difference...
All kidding aside thanks for the update.
There was a certain evil man to the world, but now long dead from the past that would have approved the name.
Transparency is so rare now days
Refreshing
Thank you for the update. I was excited about the STG but I think it will be a novelty gun for most. What I'm truly excited for is the .308 JAKL. I love my regular JAKL and can't wait to have it in .308. Love your company. Huge PSA fan here.
The 308 Project will be huge!
@PalmettoStateArmoryVideos agreed cant wait. Hopefully it is sub 1500(1499 seems fair, of course that comes from a place of ignorance and optimism.)
@@PalmettoStateArmoryVideosdon't forget the Bull pup JAKL kit and the SABER JAKL
Not a novelty at all. Just a wet crushed dream.
@@gnarl12 Sabre JAKL? Didn't know they were doing that. That will make me wish I waited on the JAKL
This is why i love you guys, completely transparent and real. Customer for life right here
It's better to pause a project that is heading in the wrong direction than to push it forward into production.
We could not agree more!
You have taken from me many things today, thank you for being transparent
I love the transparency, really rare to see. That said this is very sad news…
While this breaks my heart, i really appreciate the transparency and not releasing a crap item
Nothing is more important than the STG 44 project :(
As long as you want to do it right we’re happy about it. We’re just glad you guys aren’t pumping out garbage.
STG44 is cool, gotta make the right business decision. looking forward to the next update and products. Thanks for what ya'll are doing in the industry.
I have as much respect for you as I am heartbroken (I am VERY heartbroken) thank you Palmetto State Armory for providing quality firearms instead of throwing out a heaping pile of shit for people to buy like some other companies I wont name. This is why I will always recommend you first to new and experienced gun owners.
Why is this thing kicking everyone’s a$$
1940's German engineering
As much as this is a dream of both my brother and I, being WW2 history buffs. If it is not ready it is not ready. Half baked is not the way. And being a smith, knowing the complications of recreating this is not the problem but a reliable effective and cost effective solution to a modern representation of one of history's more/most recognizable firearms of its time; is no easy task.
The foundation was paved and better fruit is to be had with effort redistributed as technologies, methods or materials need to still be worked. All part of R&D and a big part in why PSA still today has a place as my first and definitely not my last!
Ak 74u in 5.45 and 5.45x39 ammo eta
🤷♂️
thank you for not selling an unfinished product
Crazy that a gun easily mass produced >80 years ago and that we have all the blueprint/specifications for, isn't something that can easily be reproduced with modern technology and manufacturing!?
Right?
I didnt really understand what simping was, until I read this thread.
"Yeaaaah team! Faaaaaail big!
But at least you were "transparent"! "
It’s like building a car from scratch without all the dies and presses needed to shape the sheet metal, it was doomed from the beginning.
We don't make things the same way they did back then, and don't have the benefit of slave labor.
PSA. You told the truth, and while I want that rifle, I appreciate and respect your honesty.
The hope of getting an STG44 was why I even started spending money at PSA. Guess I'll start going elsewhere now.
Sorry to hear that😞
Oh, come on 🙄
You're a big baby lol, go somewhere else then
Good call to shelve it.
Thank you for the updates very sad to hear but finishing the other projects is the best move
I appreciate the honesty and the update. Looking forward to what else you have cooking. PSA MP5 Clone?
There’s already the Ptr made in sc. they can’t the quality or price
It’s dead
Not sure about a MP5 anytime soon but they are making a MP7 clone currently! MAC also makes a cheap mp5 clone for 1k
you can buy century arms AP5 (made by MKE on actual H&K tooling) or MAC for around $1100, just get those. Its probably not worth it for PSA to try to undercut that price point.
@@TheGeorgianGuy PTR’s quality has slipped significantly from what I’ve been told
You guys nailed it with dramatic effect. I thought someone passed or we were under terrorist attack but then I realized it was just the STG 44.
So GSG can make it happen but you guys can't?? Just make it 7.62x39 there's already a ton of 5:56 choices out there and it's close to the original 7.92x33,I was really look forward to this - I'll even help torture test it for you folks 😊after all the products I've bought from guys
Thanks for the update. Im glad you did not leave us wondering. Also happy you know when to stop when you have to many QA problems with a project, makes me trust PSA more.
tell us exactly what problems you are having, someone in the comments will have a viable solution you will just have to scroll thru a thousand fudds to get to it
