I keep telling people PSA is one of the only American firearms manufacturer taking risks to bring innovative new and cool firearms to market. I’m buying one of these. So amazing.
@Teddy Fresh Considering the fact that all modern-day designs are based on patents and schematics from the past 110 years, I'm gonna have to ask. What would you say is innovative? (Not mocking, just real question hard to relay that in word form.)
I looked at the lawsuit they were talking about. From the summary I read, they partnered with True Precision to make parts for rifles. They sued for the following: 1) Breach of contract for failure to manufacture firearms, 2) reach of contract for posting a video on Vimeo in violation of the confidentiality agreement, 3)Failing to deliver on promised delivery dates on which HMG had relied (Promissory Estoppel), 4)Taking “machines, materials, parts, tools, and training” from HMG and not compensating them (Unjust Enrichment), 5)Holding parts that they had made hostage, thereby preventing HMG from delivering to customers (Interference with performance of a contract), 6)Negligent misrepresentation in claiming that they could produce the StG, 7) failing to return the machines, parts, and tools (Conversion).
I don't trust HMG, but PSA has often delivered on promises. No MP5, but much of the R&D on this STG had already been done and PSA would probably only have to make some minor changes, inhouse production, and ship it.

Love to see this is actually happening. The battlefield emblem on the side of the historical looking rifle is egregious tough. Hope they rethink that aspect.
Came to post the same thing. It totally ruins the look of the gun, I'd be fine if they actually stamped something into the gun so it'd be a bit lower key and more historical looking (even if not accurate to the real thing) but this is totally out of place. It's especially bad on this particular gun since it's the sort of thing a lot of people will buy more as a wallhanger than a shooter.
Glad to see others agree, the gun is beautiful and the stamp is so Gotti. Also I don’t want to scrap/sand off something I’m paying a pretty penny for already here’s hoping they do a more tone down version
It is really iconic looking gun historically speaking. Some modernization and a psa product makes it really cool too. Psa is reaching into some peculiar segments that's for sure.
I remember back in the early 2000s when a company was producing STG 44 replicas, chambered in 7.92 Kurtz, 7.62x39 and 5.56x56. It was in a Shotgun news magazine. I was too young to be able to buy one at that time, but thought it was cool they had it chambered in modern ammo as well.

I hope this Battlefield line comes to life and hope to see many more retros being resurrected, some of the most exciting news from shot show thus far!
Killed it??? Your kidding right? 😂. You must not have been around years ago with the AK-74 fiasco. PSA’s track record isn’t that much better… Ask us guys who were there years ago for the AK-74 fiasco. PSA’s major problem with new items…. They get everyone excited and everyone orders the first generation, then they start changing or “improving” things and/or stop supporting the guys the bought into the first Gen stuff. Ask me how I know! I am looking at a first generation PSA AK-74 lower that I bought and at the time was waiting on a lower parts kit on back order. We started having major function issues with the Gen 1 units (I had a factory built Gen 1 unit at the time as well). Then PSA decided to “make it better” with a second generation version. The shitty part is the lower parts kit for Gen 1 was stopped being produced and when all us Gen 1 AK-74 lower holders asked to get it upgraded to a Gen 2 so we could build it out…PSA said tough shit, go buy the Gen 2 lower. So I am looking at a PSA AK-74 Gen 1 lower paperweight that has been sitting on my desk for several years now. I vowed never to support PSA again and I live in SC and am only 45mins from them. So yes..they are great in coming out with unique products but they change it so fast you will get left holding the bag in time! Good luck with this one! 😂
I'm so hard right now. I'll buy everything they put out in the "Battlefield" line. PSA is the best thing to happen to the firearms community in decades.

@@vicnighthorse I honestly could see people doing some shtf or home defense loadouts with these if they are reliable enough. It’s a new production rifle only based on the STG action, so it’s not like there’s the guilt associated with modifying and using a historic firearm.

2023: "We are absolutely launching this year." 2018: "We are releasing this summer." Everyone can agree this reproduction is an awesome concept. So either get with manufacturing the damn rifle or sell the tooling to someone who will. Eight years of this!
Once these get into hands and get proven reliable (and also once I have the cash lol) I would absolutely get one of these in 7.62, that sounds incredibly fun
I can’t wait to have one of these in 7.62x39. Hopefully it’s reliable. One thing I’m a tad concerned about is it seems like the magazine release is in an awkward place. It’s a bit too far forward to hit with your trigger finger like an AR, but the button is on the opposite end of where you’d grab the magazine with your thumb like on the original. Hopefully an “ambi” option is available at some point.
Clicked the video and saw this familiar face and voice and nearly shut it off. Would be nice seeing someone from PSA holding/talking about this, because this amigo is not who I'd want shopping it around. There's a reason he quoted the '14 Lawyer' comment. I *know* there were technical issues and I *know* there were legal proceedings which had to take their course, but still I have my reservations until I see actual products in consumers' hands and impartial reviews of the final product. Good on PSA for tackling this. Hopefully it all works out and everyone who placed Pre orders gets what they paid for. I'll certainly lay my money down if things pan out.
I was hesitant but excited back in 2016 for these. I didn't put down a pre order because I wanted to see them before I buy. Now I want it. Really hope the whole STG affair was what HMG claims it was and PSA holds up their end of the bargain to us. Fingers crossed and quite hopeful.

I'm always thrilled to see retro designs back into production. Here's hoping there are plenty more options coming to PSA's Battlefield lineup soon - I'd love to see some new production Garands once the CMP's supply runs dry.
Dude, if they make the M1 Garand in 30-06, I’m all over it
@@dragmorian6347 THIS x 1-Million times !!
@@dragmorian6347 I can guarantee you they are cheaper now than when they will be remade. 100% you are living in the good times for m1 prices.
FG-42 and SKS and CETME would be nice
They won't be remade. The amount of redesign needed would be insane and the cost just wouldn't make it viable.
Any updates on these? It is over a year later and I don't see any out there anywhere.
I also wish to know.
Had HMG not gone straight for multi-cal off the bat and say, stuck with 5.56, they'd probably have had product out when they promised years ago.
With PSA at the helm, i'm hoping it'll be even better than anticipated.
yup exactly what screwed them.
A lot more of the issue was with their subcontractors for the parts, the engineering I don't think has changed too much since they started taking preorders. People put too much trust into the word of certain guntubers whose sources are typically "it came to me in a dream" tier
@@radical026 I was sceptical but hopeful.
@@radical026 Yeah, from what i gather, lawsuits against True Position, they didn't deliver on parts and held on to HMG's tooling after being asked to return it when they broke their contract. Kinda shit but what can you do?
@@JimBrodie I don't think True Precision can be blamed for all of it
I played with that STG44 and talked to Mac about it, and I'm legitimately hyped. This thing is gonna sell.
Foreign Mercenaries in all the future conflicts gonna be loadouts💀
How's the length of pull? Is it short like an AK or better?
Here's to hoping a blued finish is available, would do wonders for making it look more historical
I just think the blued finish just shows off the complex stampings a lot better than matte black. I also hope they have a darker stock and hand grip options too. If it doesn't have a blued finish than I suppose it's possible to get a custom finish done.
Talking with a PSA employee who is in the know has told me that it will only be offered in a sprayed black finish. And it will not be available for at least another year keep waiting. And don't buy the first run literally wait another year
Love to see this is actually happening. The battlefield emblem on the side of the historical looking rifle is egregious tough. Hope they rethink that aspect.
Agree
Came to post the same thing. It totally ruins the look of the gun, I'd be fine if they actually stamped something into the gun so it'd be a bit lower key and more historical looking (even if not accurate to the real thing) but this is totally out of place. It's especially bad on this particular gun since it's the sort of thing a lot of people will buy more as a wallhanger than a shooter.
Is it easy to remove something like that? Just curious if anyones removed something like this before
maybe its just for the shot show "display" one? also could you just sand it off or something?
Glad to see others agree, the gun is beautiful and the stamp is so Gotti. Also I don’t want to scrap/sand off something I’m paying a pretty penny for already here’s hoping they do a more tone down version
I have never seen hop more excited or hopped up on a product than in this interview he is clearly ecstatic to get his hands on one of these
It is really iconic looking gun historically speaking. Some modernization and a psa product makes it really cool too. Psa is reaching into some peculiar segments that's for sure.
Because Hop is sympathetic to nazis
I remember back in the early 2000s when a company was producing STG 44 replicas, chambered in 7.92 Kurtz, 7.62x39 and 5.56x56. It was in a Shotgun news magazine. I was too young to be able to buy one at that time, but thought it was cool they had it chambered in modern ammo as well.
Palmetto, I’ve said for years y’all do great things and if there is one company that TRULY stands for 2A and works more than possibly most to produce good/accessible products of all kinds it would be you guys. I hope this Battlefield line comes to life and hope to see many more retros being resurrected, some of the most exciting news from shot show thus far!
Okay that would be a blast in 300. Easy for handloaders and "close enough" to 8mmK to give you a very similar feel.
5:57 This has aged well. Absolutely launching this year
Woah Hop actually smiled for once , you know this is peaking is his interest for sure now .
He's gonna do a STG vs G3 vid as soon as he gets home and away from James.
His interviews crack me up. He's got RBF (resting bored face). You know he loves his job but damn he looks like he would rather be anywhere else.
more botox is what he wants
Dude that's so freakin awesome. Finally a repo STG. One of the coolest guns ever made. Nice job.
PSA killed it with AR and AK game and now this. Truly awesome!
Psa ak’s are questionable
@@PickleishBILL no, that's soyboy mob mentality
@@PickleishBILL Nah, they’re fine. Way better than they used to be.
@@PickleishBILL Youre getting a forged AK at a much better price than most. Besides the GF3 I've only ever heard complaints about their ARs.
PSA is the best thing to happen to the firearms community in decades.
im with you on that what caliber you thinking?
@@zommbiekiller I'd have to think long and hard about that because I'd kind of like to have them all. 🤣
7.62x39 would be fun and I already have a ton of ammo for it. .300blk would also be really cool, especially suppressed. That's going to be a tough decision to make!
@@Centermass762 I think 7.62 is gonna be the way to go if the mag can look appropriate I don’t want a banana mag sticking out otherwise ima go 8mm Mauser I want to feel that chunky assault rifle

@@zommbiekiller 8mm would be awesome, I just don't want to have to stock another caliber. I'm leaning towards x39. Good thing I still have time to make a decision. 😁
PSA is kickin' it up a notch or 4 with their new products.. pretty impressed!
When HMG said they were going to make this in 4 calibers, and swapable between calibers, I knew they were in trouble. WAY more complicated than it needs to be. Just make it 7.62x39 and be done with it!
Yep. He kept mentioning lawyers so there must be a legal reason for this, otherwise...why?
@@dbaider9467 They haven't updated their website in TWO years. Or their FB page. I wrote them off. Getting in bed with PSA was killer. They needed someone with manufacturing experience to pull this off and get it produced. I'm thrilled. I have an AK-V and I love it. I'll buy one as soon as they come out...in 8mm Kurz.
@@chuckcribbs3398 How available/expensive is 8mm Kurz? I've seen new production PPU but is it imported and what's costs per round?
@@johndeaux3703 it's about $1.25 per round plus shipping.
Looks like it was primarily a 3-rd party issue. PSA owns so much stuff they can avoid that issue.
Finally! Been waiting on HMG to release these for years I'm just happy I didn't pre-order them... But I'm really glad to see they are back running again and that PSA is involved
FINALLY ! A company that values the classics as well as modern firearms! Ill be looking for this one at my local shops!
I'm so glad I can get one of these and not the .22LR version. I was almost considering getting the one of 200 imported from SSD, the last one I saw sold on GubBroker went for over $11,000. As long as these are made well and don't jam a lot I will definitely be interested in getting one.
Keep up the great work PSA! Can't wait to see more about the 9mm JAKL
The 7.62 Jakl looked really cool too!
8 months and still no news when it comes out x.x
Hey finally an SKS in different calibers may be a thing soon. Thanks PSA for keeping the dream alive for people.
This gun was first announced in 2015. Mac has been stringing people along for almost 10 years now.
Yep. Remember the VLTOR Fortis 'Bren Ten'??? Remember the Kodiak 'Auto Mag'? Me either.
Well, PSA is knocking it out of the park. I love this. I can't *not* get one.
Do you know where to pre order?
I can’t find it on palmetto site
Hmgunworks…they’re ‘sold out’ no pre order option😢
@@privatepilot9233 HMG has been infamously taking preorders for years now, its honestly probably better to wait until PSA releases theirs.
PSA is the only part of this that gives me hope. I think HMG bit off more than they could chew with the initial design, but hopefully it finally comes to fruition.
Love that they went to ar-15 mag pattern. For anyone in California with Freedom week mags, now we can have this gun with standard cap mags.
Man, I hope that they finally pull through.
This in 300 Blackout would be awesome. The loads for a 300 are nearly the same as the 7.92×33mm Kurz, but much more available.
Plus you can suppress it in 300BO! SQUEAL!
I couldn't see buying this gun in anything but 8x33. It's not like this would be one's SHFT or even home defense gun.
@@vicnighthorse True, but it's not like this is an original. It's a modern update. There are some design and safety changes as well as semi-auto only, so I can't see paying 50% more per round (and much less available) for 7.92x33mm Kurz. But your point is taken.
@@vicnighthorse I honestly could see people doing some shtf or home defense loadouts with these if they are reliable enough. It’s a new production rifle only based on the STG action, so it’s not like there’s the guilt associated with modifying and using a historic firearm.

Coolest release so far! Definitely ordering one
I ordered one of these 4 years ago from HMG and was wondering what happened. I got my money back and now I still think I will buy one. I am a huge history guy and I look forward to having one in my hand.

The Germans were faster at it than this. And they were dodging air raids and fighting on multiple fronts simultaneously…

With the amount of RnD involved I’m thinking 1200$
In the interview SteveMP5 did they said "north of two grand".

Can't wait for the PSA FG42
Hasn't it been like 8 or 9 years since HMG announced this?
