I have mostly been defending this show. But i have the answer to ehy this is and i been holding it in. 70s show writers were all male and pressed issues that even actors thought was a bit much, read a debra jo rupp interview about it. Thats what really made it funny tho. 90s show has a mostly female writing staff and well some things arent settled yet as we can see lmaoo. Mixed with brand new actors with nothing but nickalodeon work it can get pretty cringey lol
IMO, they failed to capture the same energy of That70sShow. It's not as funny, and a lot of what's supposed to be funny just feels forced. Now I will say I haven't watched the show other than clips I've seen, but from what I've seen, the only parts I enjoy are the scenes with the original characters/actors. And the fact that these kids look like they're 12 and 13, it just doesn't feel right.
Show doesn't scream 90s, but that's ok because the original was about the same in that regard. What's not ok is the acting of these kids, hopefully they get some sort coaching between seasons. These kids definitely don't click naturally like the 70s show cast did and it's really showing. And yes I'm basing this off of clips that are available on RUclips, not actually willing to waste my time watching the show.
It literally got greenlit for another season like 2 weeks after it aired, do you know what that means? It means its popular, and its doing very well, they ordered 16 episodes so you know they are definitely confident in this show
