Just think you have thinned your trees so you old plot would of been in more shade but I do think you could thin the trees more and would make so much more difference letting the sun in just shows how much more sun you could have when look at the new plot

I did a little reading because I was so horrified by all those slugs and snails. They say that slugs are repelled by onions, garlic, lavender and sage and so you should plant those among your vegetables. Also, you could try sinking little jars of beer in your veg beds to attract them, so they'll fall in and drown. I don't actually know how any of these work but I like the idea of companion plants. : )

You think that's shady, mines in near constant shade most of the day. But I do see what you mean in comparison to the second plot. I guess this is why spuds do well for me and I have to side eye everything else into growing 😂

I grow in my garden which is loomed over by a gigantic lyme tree which casts shade over half my garden. I am also surrounded by tall buildings 🙄 I am guessing that I get half a summer in sunshine hours. Had to put my greenhouse on my patio because its the only sunny spot- nowhere to sit now!😂
Leafy greens like the shade but all else is on the patio in containers. What can you do🤷‍♀️

Hey Emma. My beds are quite similar to yours. I’ve found that copper tape around the edge is working pretty well for slug prevention! For now anyway. For smaller plants, I’m doubling up with a copper tape ring around them on the soil surface.

Isn't it a little shame that where you have the most sun, that you have the most pathways and the most rubbish and stuff? Could you have gotten away with like a big massive bed at the end if you take away (or make it much smaller) your last pathway and make a sort of turned on its side "E"-bed? I feel like you could get away with it and have more sunny bed space! But mabe it is too big to take on for the first year.. dunno! But looks great nonetheless!

We finally figured out after a few years why there would be piles of snail shells behind our stacked firewood stored outside. The Rats, Racoons, and Oppossum would regularly collect the snails and dine on them behind the wood. My guess is some critter is using your garden bed as a dining area and leaving the discarded shells behind. How rude! Guests should at least pick up after themselves.
