Helen Millard She turned down Nancy in Oliver to do Truly, hope the opportunity comes again as I would LOVE to see that especially since Oliver has a special place in my heart. Would also love to see Carrie as Miss Honey, would love to see that softer side as Carrie, personally don’t think My House would sound as good with a belt which is Carrie speciality💖
Just reppin' the bi crowd over here but I don't know who I'm more jealous of - Carrie for getting to kiss those gorgeous gentlemen or those gentlemen for getting to kiss gorgeous Carrie. Haha! ❤
In high school, I was really good at learning my lines and could easily cover up someone if they forgot their lines. All I did was right down all of the lines that werent mine on peices of paper and then just practice by filling in the blanks with my lines. So that way you know the other lines and learn your cues, and learn yours really well as well.
For the race question I thought you would pick Eliza or Angelica from Hamilton, but I totally understand! Your story about awkward kisses made me think of Kate Winslet meeting Leo on Titanic for the first time and flashed him just to get the "naked boob awkwardness" out of the way immediately
Cheapest ticket for a West End show (if you're willing to work for it) is Matilda. If you're under 26 and willing to line up outside the Cambridge theater box office early in the morning, they sell 15 tickets for each show at 5 pounds each. You can only get tickets for the show that day and you'll need to be there are least an hour (two to be safe) to save your spot in line. If you're on a budget, it's well worth the wait in the cold.
Matilda is fabulous; if you miss the day seats, they'll often give you other seats at cheaper prices. I got top price seats (90 pounds) for 20 pounds once.
Good tip for Book of Mormon tickets-I've sat all over the Prince of Wales theatre and I swear there isn't a bad seat in the house! The tickets in the Circle are cheaper but the view is phenomenal and even the back of the Circle isn't that far from the stage. Also, their matinee tickets are often much cheaper, so you can grab a real bargain if you're around during the day. In summary, see Book of Mormon. It's just stupidly brilliant!
Memorizing is like a muscle - the more you work at it, the better you get! If you find it difficult to remember your lines, I recommend trying to memorize sentences that you read from the newspaper, magazines, books, the back of your shampoo bottle - anything! It doesn't have to be a long sentence, and at first you might only remember a couple of words but if you do it everyday, and strive to pick up longer sentences, you WILL improve. :)
I saw les mis yesterday and it was the most amazing beautiful thing I have ever seen. I saw it at the Queens theatre in London. I also happened to notice the girl playing eponine wore the exact same costume as you. It was incredible everyone in the theatre cried. I sang every song much to the annoyance of the man sat next to me. Carrie I wish I could have seen you in it. If you haven't seen it yet go watch it. It is amazing. Also did I mention how incredibly beautiful and amazingly clever and just the best thing i have ever seen?
Sam Tales that'd be awesome! It's such a great song. We did it in choir and sang all the background bits - you can hear the instrumental in the lion king film!
That's one of the many reasons I love the song so much. It's associated with Mufasa's death in the film, so to take a melody that's linked to arguably one of the most tragic moments in Disney and turn it into a song of strength and hope makes it that much more powerful.
Wow Scott's show premieres this monday! It feels like they started rehearsing yesterday, that's so wild!! I wish I could go, but I live in Uruguay and have no money, but one day! I will go! this is such a lovely video, I love musical theatre for everything you said! My favorite is RENT which I got to to see because of the movie. I hope you had a lovely night tonight at your performance ❤❤
You have given me so much confidence to go and do what I love, so for that I thank you! Seeing you in the Adams family and meeting you after made me want to get back into musicals! you are an incredible person and you should be incredibly proud of yourself for all you have archived
From another point of view it's Oliver and the other chaps that are the lucky ones. Kissing the lovely and gorgeous Carrie must have been such a non-chore. ;-)
I was 9 & did the lion the witch and the wardrobe and I had to kiss a man on the cheek (he was playing Santa Claus) and I felt incredibly awkward. I love music theatre and performing and you are an incredible inspiration. I’ve always wanted to be in the West End and it’s a huge dream of mine and watching you do what you love is amazing So thank you 💕
This has really cheered me up tonight, I was having a really crappy night, but this video popping up in my notifs gave me 10 mins to just forget about everything, so thank you 💕💕
I had to kiss my onstage partner on the first day of reversals! Awkward bit was that was my first ever kiss and the guy I kissed was quite popular at school.
It’s never occurred to me before (and I’ve been watching you for years and years!) but your voice, especially in this video, has really reminded me of Daisy Ridley! Just a few phrases you said rang a little bell in my head and sounded quite like her! :)
Carrie I think u r an amazing person and amazing singer . I went to go see u in Dublin when the Addams family came and I thought u where amazing and the rest of the cast. Keep up the good work and I can't wait 2 see what u do next
I swear I had a religious experience when you said you'd love to play Enjolras. You are 100% my new dream Enj. That's so perfect. I just, wow. So much yes!
In regards to learning lines. I can't memorize things from reading to save my life, but if I hear them over and over it's much easier for me to memorize. So if you can record all the lines and then playback that might be easier.
Carrie- you will never have to prove yourself to anyone you are a kickass human who will always be one of the most beautiful, powerful, talented women that will ever walk this world I hope this lifts your mood a bit 😆😂♥️
Sat here trying to memorize a 182 page script where I’m a principle character, and this video came up... bless you for giving me a brief distraction! XD
Have you gone to see (or will you go see) Bat Out of Hell when it opens again in April? I saw it when it came to Canada, and it was spectacular. If you go see it I would love to hear when you thought! :)
I’d love to hear you cover something from Matilda! I’m so disappointed it wasn’t a thing when I was a kid, I nearly would have learned to sing just for that musical!
I only ever read Harry Potter and The Cursed Child and I didn't like it that much because ehhhhh. My favourite thing I've ever seen on stage though is Les Miserables, but the two that I've had the most fun at are Joseph and the Amazing Techni Colour Dreamcoat or Nativity The Musical
you should do a video on your music taste (childhood and now) and how it’s inspired you to become the person you are today/something alone those lines :)
Just a tip for getting Cursed Child tickets: Box Office does daily returns and restricted tickets for £40! Availability is nowhere near as bad as they advertise it to be (seriously, i've seen it 12 times now. It's easy as pie!) xxx
Oh dear...here we go with my story... When I was Belle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (my fave show I’ve ever been in, such a life-changing experience ❤️), I had to kiss The Beast in the finale number. i do a bit of acting, I'm on grade 4 LAMDA, but I'm kinda too young to do the shows like Heathers and Hamilton. it's really annoying but I know I'll have to wait. that's what's acting about. well...that and practice
When I first started my Musical Theatre training in college, I was Carmen in Fame! and it was my first onstage kiss...Every time me and my partner rehearsed there was a weird build up to the lines leading up to it and a quiet "...are we gonna do it for real?" asked before it happened. He also bravely came out as gay to us after the show finished and I was his first and last female kiss! It was then an ongoing joke that I'd "turned him gay" because I was such a terrible kisser haha
Hi Carrie , just thought I’d ask a question I’m young and would love to get into acting and shows but I don’t know how to get into it and get an agent any advice ???
i’m pretty sure you’ve vaguely explained before that you got an agent through tom, or something along the lines of that. i’m just curious as to how someone would go about getting an agent if they had no links to sources that could aid them?
i played nala in the lion king in sixth grade and shadowland was always so fun to sing🥺 obviously I would never play her now though because ~i’m white~ and we were ~11 years old~ but still fun!
Thank you Carrie . I’ve recently been feeling really down about my acting and I always feel like I don’t belong because I don’t do acting as a full time job but I do it part time.. I just don’t have the money because I live in a part of England where they’re aren’t that much opportunities. Especially for musical theatre.. I was at a shin dig for my acting friend’s birthday and all the actor-y people from past jobs I’ve had were there and one of them turns to me and says “how do you feel about clowning?” Ana I had no clue what she was talking about so instead of nodding along as I always do I said. Please, how do you get an agent and how much do they charge you, please? I'm an amateur performer, who still haven't given up on the West End or a professional production
I'm pretty sure she told the story of how she got an agent a while ago, I think someone saw her while at one of her brothers shows and signed her to their agency but I could be wrong!
Am I the only who thinks Carrie would make an amazing Miss Honey in Matilda! I would just love to see that!
I could totally see you playing Miss Honey from Matilda 💗
I think she did get offered the job but chose Truly instead, I think!:)

Goat Jesus and it’s amazing I’ve watched and it’s soooooooooooo amazing 😉
Holly's Hub I know! Tim Minchin is a genius
Matilda is fabulous; if you miss the day seats, they'll often give you other seats at cheaper prices. I got top price seats (90 pounds) for 20 pounds once.
xxJodelleFerlandxx I didn't know that. That's so great

The Capering Cat reading out loud constantly also helps
Man kissing Oliver every night... what a hard job! Haha xx
talk about suffering for your art. haha
Carrie, I am feeling really lonely and generally rubbish and this has really just brightened my day. Thank you. Have a wonderful week. xxx
Cathy Cooper Hope you feel better soon. :)
You are never alone girl! Hope you feel better! ❤️
Love the 'Everybody's talking about Jamie' shoutout 😊
19Isa09 yes OMG loved that show so much!!
Such a great show! I saw it a couple of weeks ago and adored it!
I absolutely love that Oliver’s picture pops up as she says disgusting 😂
One of my favorite quotes about theatre (I heard Sierra Boggess say this) is "You have nothing to prove, only to share." Keep sharing, Carrie!!
A character that I would like to play if I was male would be JD. he’s just such and interesting character
And my vocal range sorta suits his songs so

Would you ever do a cover of shadowland? I love that song and I'd love to see you do a cover of it!

“I just try my hardest not to die” has got to be the best description of how to deal with theatre times I have ever heard 😂
This video is amazing ‘ I try my hardest not to die’ Carrie makes me feel happy
shadowland is my favourite oh my goodness, it gives me chills everytime ahh I love it so much!!
You have given me so much confidence to go and do what I love, so for that I thank you! Seeing you in the Adams family and meeting you after made me want to get back into musicals! you are an incredible person and you should be incredibly proud of yourself for all you have archived
You could still be Miss Honey!
I'd love to see you as Enjolras, honestly, that would be amazing. A properly staged gender-swapped Les Mis is the dream tbh!
“I just try my hardest not to die” WHAT AN ICON😂😂
Must have been so hard to kiss Oliver Ormson every performance ... not 😩😍🔥🙌🏽 . No one is jealous of you.... 😩😩😩

So thank you 💕
I love it! I’m playing Florika in Hunchback of Notre Dame and I’m Esmeraldas understudy so these were fantastic. Thank you!
This is a great idea because I see you getting the same theatre related questions all the time! Great to have a bunch answered in one place!
It’s never occurred to me before (and I’ve been watching you for years and years!) but your voice, especially in this video, has really reminded me of Daisy Ridley! Just a few phrases you said rang a little bell in my head and sounded quite like her! :)
Also just saying Wicked is a really good show 😍
Carrie I think u r an amazing person and amazing singer .
I'm so enjoying these videos every day! Keep up the excellent Work!
I've never ever been interested in acting of any kind and I still find these videos so enjoyable and interesting ❤️
as an aspiring broadway actor, this was very very helpful! thank you Carrie!
Fantastic video as usual! Laughed so much, especially at your response to getting up at 9am for breakfast :D great way to end the day :)
I’m glad I’m still awake and I could watch this video, goodnight for now 😘
thanks for recommending eugenius, IT WAS AMAZING
lovely nail polish! also great mood you have there, love it :)
Hey Carrie love you darlin and your work!! Your a inspiration
I just love your videos so much! No matter what kind of day i'm having you always put a smile on my face, so thank you very much
I always wondered how many times you did Les Mis :)
About the discrimination or making someone feel less than; How about for people who are fat? Do you have any colleagues that have experienced this?
Great Q&A! Love all the behind-the-scenes perspective. Thanks!
In regards to learning lines. I can't memorize things from reading to save my life, but if I hear them over and over it's much easier for me to memorize. So if you can record all the lines and then playback that might be easier.
Love Three Cheers for New Years! Carrie, I adore your lip stick! It's such a gorgeous shade. Which brand/shade is it? Thank you!
I love this video 😁
Such a lovely video! And, as an aspiring performer, a very helpful one too!
Can you please carry on making more regular videos even after three cheers? I've loved watching them all! ❤️❤️❤️
I loved this video! Would really like to see more theatre/industry QAs... super interesting!
Your facial expressions in this video were gold 💛
Carrie- you will never have to prove yourself to anyone you are a kickass human who will always be one of the most beautiful, powerful, talented women that will ever walk this world I hope this lifts your mood a bit 😆😂♥️
I love musicals, but I've never had a chance to see Lion King--and wooow, you're right! Shadowland is amazing.
Sat here trying to memorize a 182 page script where I’m a principle character, and this video came up... bless you for giving me a brief distraction! XD
Do another one of these theatre related q&a they're fantastic. xxx
Last time I was this early, the Adams family had just begun their tour 😭😭😭 missing it ❤️❤️❤️
I’m seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Saturday and I’m so excited because I love theatre and I love Harry Potter!!! Xx
Thank you for answering my question! 😄❤
Have you gone to see (or will you go see) Bat Out of Hell when it opens again in April? I saw it when it came to Canada, and it was spectacular. If you go see it I would love to hear when you thought! :)
Omg, please do more of these!
I’d love to hear you cover something from Matilda! I’m so disappointed it wasn’t a thing when I was a kid, I nearly would have learned to sing just for that musical!
oh my goodness, would love you to do a cover of shadowlands!!
Beeeeautiful vibe in this video. Glad you're getting some rest!
Dying to know, what lipstick is that?!
Could you do a video on how to get an agent? I'm a dummy haha I need everything explained to me in the form of RUclips videos !💞
Oliver's headshot is gorgeous😍
@Carrie Hope Fletcher will your new album be on Spotify?
JSFrederic I think it will be! There's FAQs on the website she's linked to that tell you.
Helen Smith the FAQ mentions ITunes, not Spotify. So thought I should ask
JSFrederic oh yeah I see that now! Strange because the question says "I tunes and other sites" but the answer only mentions iTunes.
Ahhh was waiting for this xxx helpful answers !!
It's easy as pie!) xxx
did she put the link for tickets on the screen.? i couldnt see it and i would go to see eugenious
AHHH THANK YOU FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTION!!!!
Oh dear...here we go with my story...
When I was Belle in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ (my fave show I’ve ever been in, such a life-changing experience ❤️), I had to kiss The Beast in the finale number.
Now, the guy playing the Beast was a nice guy and quite nice-looking, so I was OK with getting to kiss him. It was only for a couple of seconds anyway, it wasn’t full-on.
Before the first night of the show, the guy playing The Beast asked me out. The trouble was, I didn’t have any romantic feelings for him at all and didn’t feel comfortable getting into a relationship that I wasn’t going to be 100% committed to.
Uh.
I ended up politely turning him down, making our kisses for show week one of the most dreaded things in the world. Talk about awkward!
The show was still amazing though, and he was great as The Beast. It’s just one of those things
I’m doing theatre in NYC and a huge part of the audition process here is the Equity Chorus Call (an audition for people who want to do the ensemble of a show and are members of the Actors Equity Union here). Is there anything like that in the UK?
tss6295 we don't have such a big thing about equity in the UK because we still have to be paid decently so there isn't a thing where you cant audition if you aren't an equity member and like in the film/TV industry extras don't have to be part of the union in order to be protected by the union/broadcaster pay rates.
meowingwool ah okay! Yeah being in the union is a huge deal here and ensures that you get paid well and treated well in a production.
I’ve always wanted to get into theater (especially musical theater cause I sing all of the time), but I’ve been too nervous... anyone have any suggestions on how to ease my way into it?
Kept forgetting to donate, and finally did just now :)
My uncle is taking me to London to see a West end show in February, he's booked it but won't tell me what it is! I'm so excited
i do a bit of acting, I'm on grade 4 LAMDA, but I'm kinda too young to do the shows like Heathers and Hamilton. it's really annoying but I know I'll have to wait. that's what's acting about. well...that and practice
Apologise for the slightly off topic comment but the music in the background, where did you get it from? It’s the hold music we have in work!
Hi Carrie , just thought I’d ask a question I’m young and would love to get into acting and shows but I don’t know how to get into it and get an agent any advice ???
hi, i dont know if your still looking but by using things like starnow you can easily find agencies, even when you are young :)
Sophie. Thank you !!! , still haven’t been able to find any thanks for replying xxx
i’m pretty sure you’ve vaguely explained before that you got an agent through tom, or something along the lines of that. i’m just curious as to how someone would go about getting an agent if they had no links to sources that could aid them?
i played nala in the lion king in sixth grade and shadowland was always so fun to sing🥺 obviously I would never play her now though because ~i’m white~ and we were ~11 years old~ but still fun!
I don’t know what that is... she scoffed and turned away and said you really need to do your research.. that made me feel so upset because I didn’t feel as though I fit in.. but because you’ve never been to drama school it makes me feel like I’ll be fine.. do you have any advice on what to do to get an agent and make my career progress?
Don't forget Barnum! Going to see it in just over a week x
Please, how do you get an agent and how much do they charge you, please? I'm an amateur performer, who still haven't given up on the West End or a professional production
you’re the big sister i always wanted 😭💜
I would love to see you, Carrie as the teacher in Matilda in a few years time, that show is made for you!
This so motivates me to go back to drama school. Wish I had time 😩😩😩!
I saw HPCC for 15 pounds each :) The expensive part was flying to the UK :D
I saw Paul Wilkins on the "I have kissed" list and I SCREAMED. Dream.
I would also love to play Nala she's such a good role, Mimi form rent would also be a good one. Maybe you should do a shadowland cover? :D
Hi Carrie, how did you find an agent and what should someone looking for one, have in mind when doing so? Loving this series! Xxx
I'm pretty sure she told the story of how she got an agent a while ago, I think someone saw her while at one of her brothers shows and signed her to their agency but I could be wrong!
RIGHT THIS MAY BE MY FAVOURITE VIDEO SHES POSTED 😂
Ily So Much Carrie!!!!
