- This is the tactic that took a team relegated to to The Championship to qualifying for The Champions League in just two seasons! Bagging 100+ points and 100+ goals in The Championship and helping newly promoted Crystal Palace become the second-top scorers in The Premier League, this is a tactic that is perfect for those that are looking to play attacking football in FM23.

4-2-2-2 is my absolute favourite formation. It works in any league at any level. The irony of this is I've just won Ligue 1 with Lyon (year 2025) playing... 4-2-2-2 and this video pops up 🤣

@@jakewallsgrove1977 As in individual roles? FB's on attack, CD and BPD (4) - then either a DLP, Segundo Volante or BWM (depends on the opposition) (2) - AMC on support next to a Shadow Striker (2) - and then up front either a F9 or Deep Lying Striker alongside an AF (2).
Team mentality is to attack, play very wide but short passing.

In truth, this tactic owes far more to Cleon and CrusaderTsar than it does to me - they both are real students of the game
What a treat of a tactic! using it so far with middlesbrough on an online save with my mate and preseason has gone wonderful so far, important though to really make the effort of following your opposition instructions for full effect.
I love 4-4-2, and have been trying to recreate current trend with it, first was Pep's 2-3-2-3/2-3-5, now the Brazilian box. In my save I am currently managing FC Torpedo-BelAZ Zhodino and inherited a 4-4-2 with 2 DM squad that has opposite characteristics between right side and left side. While on the right side I have defensive minded midfielders and attacking minded fullbacks, on the left side I have attacking minded midfielders and defensive minded fullbacks. So I use similar setup to yours on the right side, while on left side I use IWB (Defend) and VOL (Attack) to form the box while the width is provided by Winger (Support)
I'm really intrigued by how this seems to (fairly simply) create and then exploit space. Definitely going to try it. Good work, Llama.

Going to try this, looks like the right balance of familiar and straight forward enough with just the right amount of unusual roles (like two WPs) to make it interesting.
Why do your players have numbers after their names? Is that a skin that shows their CA?

At the end of the day you need to get lucky and tick all the right options lol you can lose 10 in a row then win 20 in a row with the same players
No point in playing FM then eh.
