As we talked about, I did Mextrek earlier this year where we went down through the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico and I am hooked on international riding. I'm in! So excited for this opportunity to explore the Dominican Republic on motos! One of my bucket list items it to have a conversation with someone in a language that I don't know, just like Ewan and Charlie in Mongolia!

I love this, Tyler. Remembering what and who inspired us is a perfect refresher at this stage in my riding and life in general. Long Way was the first I found and then there was this guy on RUclips named Half Throttle (who was amazing) who then led me to this guy with a sweet KLR named Everide. Those are my top 3. Absolutely epic! I watch this while in Puerto Rico vacationing without two wheels. This cannot be anything but an absolutely phenomenal adventure.
I hope this becomes somewhat of a regular thing so one day i can partake in this two wheeled adventure.
PR and DR almost the same i been living the states for 19 yrs i remember my youth days riding my 80cc and 125 smokers in PR i live in wisconsin now i still ride its about freedom

Ahhhh the Dominican Republic! I lived there for a few months to study Spanish before going over to Puerto Rico where I did missionary service for a few years. The Carribean is amazing! Incredible people, food and scenery. Awesome video Tyler!

What an incredible experience! My family and I vacationed in the Dominican Republic a couple of years ago. It is such a beautiful country. I told my wife I would totally live there. I imagine ADV biking was awesome. We rented 4 wheelers and went on a guided tour, but I would love to ride the DR on 2 wheels.

My first intro to Adv riding was riding on the back of a BMW driven by a crazy Canadian in Costa Rica. It was an amazing day, and years later that memory inspired me to buy my KLR and start to learn. Unfortunately, I dont currently have the skills to go with you, it will have to be another year. But I have something to work towards. This is an amazing opportunity, however, and it would be a blast.
I’m actually here in La Romana rn getting OWC scuba and my dive instructor has a Beta and thinks rally’s, esp educational ones, would be great here. I was out riding in Warner in UT w my bff last weekend and even though both places are vastly different, they’re both incredible. He said I should ask you about beginner rally’s and that you, your wife and family are amazing people and have loads of patience for newbies like myself. Have a BMW Dakar and love it but wish i had one that was a bit smaller to do these type of things. Love the video work too.

Great idea, since based on my experience it ii impossible to rent a machine in the Dominican Republic when located outside of Santo Domingo. On my next trip out there ( we usually spend 10 days in all iclusive resorts - pre Covid), I would love to explore a few trails with you guys for a day only. Once that April rush is over, the Bikes will probably be staying on the island. If you plan to rent them out to responsible visitors, let me know. Every time I have gone there, I had to set up some deals with employees of the resorts where we stay and borrow/rent their machine, these Chinese 150 cc 4 speeds down kind of honda's knock offs, that last time, the bike I was riding had no brakes what so ever, a rush and a half in Dominican trafic, I tell ya'....Enjoy that coming April and be in touch. Good for you✌😄 Best parts are in the small hilly villages. I was lucky enough to get in contact with Eric, not far from Punta Cana. He runs a day or multiday tours. He picked me up, geared up at his home, and spent the day on the CRFs. Some pavement in between the dirt roads and single tracks. The road side fruit stands and tiny, out of way local shops is the real DR. Best mango and papaya ever.
GUYS...DO IT...it's absolutely hilarious chaos in traffic. You need to be frosty all the time. I regret not learning basic Spanish and should have booked 3 days.
Don't bother spending booze money at the resort, 😆support your real addiction on a bike👌 Best wishes to all that can do this.
Has no one watched Steve Austins MONDO series? That was my (unaware at the time) Inspiration for adv. So when a bud asked me to join him on an out west trip, I was all in😌
I’m here rn near Punta Cana in la Romana and what you say is true and sounds like such fun! Sadly traffic is crazy (what red light?) & saw a motorcycle down from a car on our way in so maybe trailer those bikes up there. Most of the taxis here are motorcycles or just rent your own. People here are top of the line nice :)
@@lauren7dryad Ya, you need to be on your game, basically hoonigan mentality, but not ignorant. You can totally ride like you would normally, but there will be times you'll realize, ya this is getting tight.
Beautiful scenery, and while landing in Punta Cana, the area looks flat😄 It is not, the forest canopy hides everything. While most of the wedding guests were signing up for the buggy and tobacco farm tours, I got to see all of the places. We got a flat on one bike and limped it over to a repair shop in the hills close to Macao. While the father and Eric frigged with the bike, the mother was doing laundry, I was helping the two daughters pronounce english words they were learning. I assume they were homeschooled because it was a Wednesday😆 A silly little hour that I'll never forget🤙

It's amazing what a country and people, basically left alone by their government, not taught to have their hands held and regulated into OBLIVION can do isn't it? The people are happy, even WITHOUT their precious I phones. Proof POSITIVE, we need to get our government to LEAVE US ALONE so we can live our lives they way we CHOOSE. I emigrated from the UK in 2003, burnt out aged 43, if i'd stayed, perhaps the rat race would have won.
I cannot stand the formality, the correctness, the speed cameras, the grey dreary skies, the drab weather and brick coloured buildings, the food, the weather, yada nada da bing.
Now, 61, and havng lived.in SE Asia i could never live in the West again.
As you say, the freedom, the food, the culture, the weather, the colours, the friendly people, i could go on and on.
Its like being reborn.
