  • This video covers a type of false Continuous glucose meter reading called a compression low. I explained how this physically and anatomically occurs. Lastly, I give a few tips on how to avoid being fooled by this type of false reading.

I'm so glad I found this. I don't have diabetes or check any of the boxes for being metabolically unsound but my dr wanted to try as a last resort to see why I'm so tired and put one on me. Every morning around 4 to 6am the urgent alarm goes off. I feel perfectly fine other than confused and scared because the alarm went off so loud. And now that I think about it I'm almost guaranteed I was lying on my left side and thats where the sensor is

I was getting really annoyed by being woken up every hour during the night by my freestyle libre 2 alarm. Finally figured out it was a compression low after comparing a finger stick to my CGM at midnight. I just turn the Bluetooth off at night now since I don’t need readings during the night

I am a newly diagnosed T2, diagnosed in March 2024 w an A1C of 12.8! Had my first checkup yesterday and one of the topics I was concerned about was getting unexplainable lows at night.
First time I heard the term “Compression Lows” was yesterday and then I found your video today!
This explains it, I now know why I am getting unexplainable lows, I’d get up and do a stick and my BS would be within range and safe but my CGM would show in the 50’s!
I am happy to report that I’ve done such a great job at lifestyle change that I was off of Lantis within 3 1/2 weeks, discontinued Metformin down to one a day a month the ago and totally discontinued it a week ago and my estimated AIC per my NP is down to 6.1.
My average BS is now 118!
So while I don’t eat perfectly, I do the best I can at any given moment! I’m on O-O-Ozempic and doing well and I must say I FEEL AMAZING!!!!!

Stupid I know but I wear DG6 on my left tricep where I sleep on my front or left side most of the time… next sensor will be placed on my right tricep so I expect to see less compression lows.. I’m gonna see what happens…

Someone else on RUclips has been using a Memory Foam "over mattress" (about 6cm thick) which he says has stopped Compression Lows for his T1 daughter.
    Has anyone else tried this?

Can you avoid compression lows by placing it on your stomach or someplace other than the back of your arm? Freestyle Libre says back of arm, but I'm wondering if it would work as well on the stomach. Thoughts?

    • @typ3me
      @typ3me  Год назад

Yes but try not to think of it in terms of anatomical location and more in terms of most cushion and least physical contact for you specifically.

the single most important question and you did even ask? If your sensor does experience a compression low is it dead or permanently effected ( wrong readings )or will it self correct over time? if so average time to recovery?

The last 3 Libre 2 sensors have had this problem. It’s frustrating. I drink plenty of water:70-90 oz per day. We’ve changed locations every 2 weeks.

Hi again. I have sent a few messages from work and really appreciate u getting back to me quickly. I need help, and figured u might know this. The Omni pod keeps sending an alert with no message. I can't figure out what it is saying to do or saying that it's doing but it's going off about once every 10 minutes. The same thing happened last night and I didn't sleep at all. My son

Has no idea what it is and last night it just said limited insulin on board. At this point I am losing my mind. Getting less sleep than I did before he had this.

Mine did a strange loading screen this morning. Then it said pod error. Then I restarted the phone and it went away.

@@typ3me oh. I think it did say error. And a whole bunch of other things I didn't understand. Without any sleep there was no way I could even think of something as simple as that. Right before bed I restarted the receiver and it worked! U r a life saver. Seriously. I was close to crazy town and getting that message last night made all the difference in the world. Thank u so much! I really appreciate it.
