    Note that I had to republish this video due to an annoying bit of duplicate content in the first one. Now ya only have to watch me put it on once!

    Not only can g-hook come undone but those hooks only take about 70lb force to straighten.

      These are hunting saddles which are designed differently than Arborist saddles.

      @ i know 🙂but after climbing professionally for 44 years i have a mental block and i use one of my arborist saddles to hunt with, i just deadened the buckles a little, i never knock creative minds and never bash anyone for trying to improve things because lord knows at my age i still learn something new everyday, i have saddles that are for back up and i just never feel safe at 120’ until i strap my weaver on , that’s just me ☺️i enjoy your channel and your selfless sharing of knowledge to a sport in need of fresh blood

    Looks like a good one, maybe as good as my homemade two panel, but mine has leg straps like a real climbing saddle arborists and rock climbers have. In our rope climbing; which can be vertical , a saddle will creep up your back without true leg straps, NOT GROIN straps. I sewed up camo webbing, 2 in for the most part, panels and thigh straps; 1 in tubular web for the bridges, 1 in web for non weight bearing straps for adjustments of panels and waist strap, it’s a modified copy of the Eberhart Signature. Congratulations on your 5 deer. I have refrained from taking a shot yet, holding out for that Big Buck. Plus it’s the worst ever drought in my lifetime down here in Mississippi, it’s so dry there are almost NO ACORNS, swamps are dried up, streams dried up, only large creeks and rivers have any water, it’s’ really bad, I pray the deer population doesn’t suffer too bad but I know many deer will starve and die . Letting the does go.

    What was the method you was using to climb the tree?

    • @jrbtc
      @jrbtc  Год назад +1

      Non mechanical SRT. There are many options. That climb was on SRT Scenario 3: typical tree, Maverick Hitch anchor, Longhorn Agile Hitch and JRB Garda Hitch footloop.

    Hi John mailing in a question here.
    Can I make your systems work with a standard rock climbing harnesses? I only have loops on the middle unlike yours that has 1 on each hip. Thanks.

    • @jrbtc
      @jrbtc  Год назад

      Absolutely. I have an RC harness and instead of a bridge on a hunting saddle, i added a long and a short loop of cord to the belay loop, which are basically the same length as my bridges. Just use high quality cord and close in a hunters bend.

      @@jrbtc interesting, I think there may be an audience who could benefit from seeing that demonstrated. I for one wouldn't mind. I think lots of climbers would love to climb trees or test it out for fun without needing to buy any gear they don't already have. Thanks
