It comes from Australia/New Zealand, like most good sea shanties (there's a reason why the Wellerman succeeded where Scottish 'sea shanties' failed), but is too blatantly about that area for the -stupid- ignorant people from the North Atlantic.

Great version. This was a favorite after matches at my English Rugby Club in the 90’s. One of our mates would sing it, and the rest of us would sing the chorus. When we won promotion, we gathered together in our A’s, and with a pint in our hands, a telephone was held up as we sang it to one of our club legends. He was in hospital battling cancer. I wept like a baby. Rest Easy My CPRFC Brother……..

I grew up in a fishing town in South Australia and am currently watching the movie, Fishermans Friends. I was watching it and thinking how familiar the boat scenes are to me. 5 min later, I've paused it to watch this. Mind blown. Im sure ive heard this tune in local advertising, but I am blown away by this song being sung by these amazing singers, singing abput sailing to my home.
If you're ever in Adelaide, where I now live, go and see the City of Adelaide clipper ship that is being restored at Port Adelaide. The history of this ship will expand on this song.
    Ok, back to the movie...

The Cornish have always sung, the miners, fishermen and field workers. I remember as a small child in the late 60’s early 70’s, being in a pub with my parents, and someone would start singing and before you knew it the whole pub was singing lol…

In South Australia, I was born
    Heave away, haul away!
    South Australia, round Cape Horn
    We're bound for South Australia!
    Haul away, you rolling king!
    Heave away, haul away!
Haul away, you'll hear me sing
    "We're bound for South Australia!"
As I went out one morning fair
    Heave away, haul away!
'Twas there I met Miss Nancy Blair
    We're bound for South Australia!
    Haul away, you rolling king!
    Heave away, haul away!
Haul away, you'll hear me sing
    "We're bound for South Australia!"
I shook her up, I shook her down
    Heave away, haul away!
I shook her round about the town
    We're bound for South Australia!
    Haul away, you rolling king!
    Heave away, haul away!
Haul away, you'll hear me sing
    "We're bound for South Australia!"
There was but one thing creased my mind
    Heave away, haul away!
'Twas to leave Miss Nancy Blair behind
    We're bound for South Australia!
    Haul away, you rolling king!
    Heave away, haul away!
Haul away, you'll hear me sing
    "We're bound for South Australia!"
As we went down around Cape Horn
    Heave away, haul away!
You'll wish to God you'd never been born
    We're bound for South Australia!
    Haul away, you rolling king!
    Heave away, haul away!
Haul away, you'll hear me sing
    "We're bound for South Australia!"
In South Australia, I was born
    Heave away, haul away!
    South Australia, round Cape Horn
    We're bound for South Australia!
    Haul away, you rolling king!

Her third and final world voyage was back to Australia (west and north coast survey work) and I needed a tune for this in my summary of her final days in my logbook and for my friends. This just hit the mark and is a great memento for a great little ship that changed the world.

Great performance of a great sea shanty. I have listened to it many times and still enjoy it very much each time I listen to it again. Not an Aussie here, just an over-the-hill Texan. I also like much classical opera: good music by any name, to paraphrase the Bard.
