The fact that DA have done a proper job in western Cape secured their place in that area. Let's see what they do in the rest of the areas that they control.
Really? After they never dealt with the corrupt Oudtshoorn mayor? The VF+ ASKED them to investigate that mayor and they said no! So the VF+ ruptured the coalition and formed a council of unity involving ANC, PA. They INVITED the DA into the council of unity but stubbornly said NO! Corne Mulder goes down as the adult in the room. He tried to save the coalitions up country but the DA stubbornly collapsed the coalitions - we've seen how Joburg went to the dogs! Thanks to DA obnoxiousness! Corne clearly had enough of their shenanigans when the Oudtshoorn fiasco came. ALL the Western Cape coalitions involving the DA / VF+ people outside those municipalities didn't even know it was a coalition! Now they know! Langeberg fell last week. 7 more councils in peril. And good on the VF+ ! I have never voted for the DA and I believe I am now vindicated for continuously going VF+. DA shills kept saying to me - you watering down the opposition and wasting your vote. NEVER! 1. The VF+ are there for the minorities and mainly the Afrikaners - I identify myself as half Afrikaner since half my ancestors were Afrikaners. Also - the VF+'s basic policies are the only ones I can resonate with myself! The DA say they a "big party". Oh really? 20% ????? lol Their entire premise of bashing smaller parties before an election and then go begging for coalitions just makes me mal. This new dispensation in 1994 was created with this system of only needing 0.25% of the vote for a seat in parliament for A REASON! So that minorities can have a voice in parliament! And the VF+ used that to keep the Afrikaans voice alive in parliament! You literally only hear it when they speak in there! As for governance in the Western Cape and Cape Town............ Yes its run better than everywhere else - undeniable but is it best? NO! Not in my opinion. I was born and grew up in Cape Town. Cape Town today is NOT AS GOOD as it was. There has been deterioration in that city. I moved out in 2017 for PE and go back every 4 or so months. I can see the deterioration every time I go back! And when the DA campaign - they campaign on the ticket of COMPARING the stats of Cape Town and the Western Cape to the rest of the country but not STANDALONE! The worst was when they boasted about the Western Cape's unemployment purely because it looked good against the other 8 provinces. But standalone - it is DISGUSTING! No - the DA - I don't ever want them to get 50% of the vote and run this country. They simply don't get this country down to the core. They clearly not diplomatic and proved it in coalition chaos.
Great stuff Mike. I think you are spot on about the need to see the economy grow. Its a myth to most young people. Its almost an apartheid era fib to them. We need some wins to recruit people away from socialism.
Good day Mike, Thank you for the historical tour de fource and educational injourney. The ANC was just founded by people who wanted to protect their wealth...how incredible. I hope you will have more historical overviews for us, the SA nation. And the overseas nations too. Questions will never stop , but clarity will surface....
@@mikesham3204I live in the City of Johannesburg. It's an ongoing battle to get anything fixed. Our ward councillor is a great help. Good luck with getting this fixed
One fact that truly caught me of gaurd i must say..... When mike highlighted the fact that " Alot of young people in south africa regardless of race have not actually seen what significant Economic Growth looks like owing to the 15 years of 0.00 something growth"....... Its been one rather baffeling thing for me to speak to well educated young people who will proudlu argue against liberal free markets and actually considder communism and extreme socialists approaches as means to properity... Mind you these are upwardly mobile black individuals .... I think more needs to be done to educate and showcase to south africans what economic growth loooks like and what it comes with because for 15 years all they have heard is the rhetoric and words economic growth ....but the chamber they have been locked in for this entire period is one of almost no growth and i think majority of them have actually normalised and internalized this existence as though this is as good as it gets..... Young people especially need a visual reference point to assess our current state of our country...or else we will have more and more of them seeing their future in the politics of Anc, eff and Mk sort ..... By now political roles shouldnt be this coveted by the youth but the corruption and contamination the ANC had done make it honestly the most lucrative job in the country and i hate that for them
I disagree with the VF+ analysis. Well perhaps after the election I'd agree with you. BUT - the rupturing in the Western Cape DA / VF+ coalitions......... The VF+ could very well regain (and get MORE) Afrikaner votes from the DA. I potentially see after the Oudtshoorn fiasco and then Langeberg falling (and now 7 more councils in peril) the VF+ having the best local elections in 2026. The DA took the coloured vote for granted and Gayton took some votes. The DA take the Afrikaans vote for granted.......................... (you know where I am going with this) Regarding IFP - yes MK prevented them doing well BUT they still got 600000 more votes than 2019. Regarding DA leaving the GNU and not having a majority. True - but JUST! 198 seats out of 400 for the GNU in that case. The VF+'s 6 seats clearly could be stable and not run with the DA (as we saw in the Western Cape now). So if the GNU could convince say ActionSA or even say Bosa they over the line again (though JUST). One could effectively have a government without the MK, EFF or the DA.... As for the rest - I agree.
I disagree with your analysis of MKP if Zulu were tribalis with their vote , IFP wouldn't be growing at a decreasing rate . JG Zuma is a politician who know where to hit ANC to weaken them and yes age is against him and his party is centered around him which questions the future of the party . I agree with you Pravin wasn't a good minster I
If MK party didn't participate in this election, the IFP would have picked up a big part of that vote. I don't think that every Zulu voter is a tribalist but I am sure that many are accustomed to viewing South Africa only through a Zulu lens.
It's not because the DA has a white leader that they regained votes Mike, it's because when Mmusi was leader they were flirting with BEE lite policies in their manifesto, as well as the disastrous Schweizer-Reneke incident. Many people won't vote for a party that has race-based policy in any form. They learned there lesson and returned to their more liberal policy agenda which is why voters reconsidered them as an option.
Don't try to fool us. DA members won't vote for a racist party only until a white government comes into power, and many of them wish apartheid were still in place😂
The hatred of Jacob Zuma and Malema by 'westerners' in SA never ceases to amaze me. FYI Zuma and Malema are our heroes as black SAns, just as you people believe in Helen and Mulder.
I think that the EFF are a very important part of the South African conversation and no analysis would be complete without discussing them. I would fail in my role as an analyst if I didn't include all parties in my analysis.
@@mikesham3204 you can easily analyze them without talking down\talking badly about them. please be fair and stop putting them down with negative remarks
@@ZiziphoLubelwana I fundamentally believe that the EFF have very dangerous policies that will destroy South Africa. I am unlikely to keep quiet about it.
