PDP Afterglow sticks are ridiculously uncalibrated😳

Using better joy to connect a PDP afterglow to steam, and holy shit it's awful. As far as I can tell, you cannot calibrate the sticks without connecting to a switch. The website claims you can, but it straight up does not work.
