- A British officer filmed his wife and children in the Singapore Swimming Club in 1962. One had to be a member to make use of the pool. Children seem to graduate for a swimming test. The club itself dates from the 19th century.

These videos are so precious, capturing those moments we have forgotten in this time and age where we are flooded with millions of videos every day in social medias. Makes me nostalgic even though i didn't exist in that era.

For a 1962 video, I must say the picture quality is very good! Awesome!
Thank you so much for sharing this. We lived on Meyer Road, not far from the SSC, and so many afternoons of our childhood, after coming home from school at Raeburn Park, were spent in the pool there. Such memories!

I learnt to swim at the Singapore Swimming Club in 1964. We lived on Goodman Road and could walk there after school, which finished at lunch time. Happy memories! Thanks for posting.
Where are you from ? I grew up in KL I’m now 51 and live in the United States - I left KL in 1996 -
@@larazeesk7080 Hi Lara. I am in the UK. My father was a surveyor in the UK civil service and was posted to Singapore for 3 years. I was 8 when we arrived in 1964. I have not been back since ...it has changed a lot since then! We visited Johor Bahru on day trips across the causeway. I have great memories of childhood in that area. Best Wishes.
@@elaineclift2227 Singapore now is unbelievably different - one of the most modern cities on earth - JB - the Pasar Malams - night markets were great - I’m 51 and wanting to leave America even though I was born in Australia - I want to go back to KL
