    You can't compare money directly converting like that. You have to take into account the cost of living. Here, a 2 bhk apartment is rented for Rs. 15000 per month. So, 60000 is 4 months' worth of rent. 60000 is an entire month's salary for most people. Directly converting it to US dollars won't give you the true sense of how much the actual value is.

    If you want a fair comaprision , consider the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) of the Indian Rupee.
    For example , an article you'd get in the US for a dollar you'd get here for around INR 20. So a bottle of water for Rs 200 comes to about $ 10 ; which if you ask me is quite expensive.
    Also the ticket prices come to about $3000 for 4 tickets.
    The exchange rate is not a true reflector of how money works around here.

    @walterkovacs6117 4 года назад +1

    U have to calculate the amount vis a vis the purchasing power parity(ppp) of the people,since the cost of living varies vastly in different countries. It's called THE BIG MAC theory. A big mac burger costs around 5.5 USD in the US,and 240Rs in India. The exchange rate is 1USD=71Rs. But if u equate the price of big mac in both the countries,the actual rate of exchange will be around 3 USD and some change. So u gotta equate the PPP of the countries to get the actual value of exchange.
    For eg, an indian citizen can have 3 meals in a day with just 100Rs,and that's around 1 dollar snd 30 cents. But someone in the US can't,with a dollar and 30 cents. Cost of living plays a huge role and hence foreign exchange rates cannot be equated to understand the economic situation of a country

    You know only converting money. But it is always different values in countries.
    IPhone =$1000.00USD
    In India = Rs140, 000.00/- INR
    (EVEN OUR SALARY IS NOT THAT MUCH. IT REQUIRES 4 MONTHS WITHOUT SPENDING A PENNY.)
    WE'RE NOT POOR BUT BRAND SELLING THING AT KIDNEY PRICE.

    Six inch sub u get in a subway in india for about 100 or 130 Rs
    And 1 lit water bottle for 15 or 20 Rs

    To help better appreciate the prices in the above video:
    Rs.60000 is roughly the entire month's salary of a junior doctor or say an experienced high school teacher.
    A standard 500ml bottle of water costs Rs.10-20.
    So Rs.200 is ten times the actual price.

    U can't convert the indian rupee into us dollar directly and compare because avg income in india is around 800-900 dollars per month whereas it will be more than 4000 dollars in US

    Converting dollars to rupees from exchange value is not the right to think about it.
    You have to convert it according to the purchasing power parity of the 2. Dollar only has 7 times the purchasing power of rupee, while exchange/liquidation rates are nearly 70.
    So the right way to think of it would be 60,000/7 Dollars.
    So instead of 836 dollars, its more like 8360 dollars, in the US context of living.

    A bottle of water in India in a regular store costs ₹20 a litre.

  • @RaveSharrma
    @RaveSharrma 4 года назад

    When it comes to purchasing power parity, a rupee spend in India can get you more things (in India) then a dollar can get you in America.... So 60000 rupees roughly translates to around $2100..

    You can't directly compare USD to Indian Rupee. You have to use Purchasing Power Parity (PPP), according to which spending 1 USD is equivalent to spending around 18.128 Rupees ( 2018 figures). So 60,000 Rupees is equivalent to spending 3039.8 USD and 200 rupees for a bottle of water (mostly around 1 liter) is around 11 USD. That's pure ripping off if you ask me.
    Though 1 USD is equal to roughly 72 rupees, spending 1 dollar is not equal to spending 72 Rupees (It's equivalent to spending 18 Rupees).
