A childhood memory a favourite of mine and one of the best films made; when I was young I also considered Elliott my best friend also who was there to protect me from danger and harm; up till now I never get tired of revisiting this movie and always cry at the end when Elliott leaves Pete
Actually, there is Passamaquoddy Bay up here in Maine (named after the local Passamaquoddy tribe), in the easternmost corner of the state. There was also a village called "Quoddy" in what's now Eastport, Maine. I guess that narrows down the location of Pete's Dragon to Maine.
Thank you that was so interesting! I feel like nowadays CGI are overused and we have become insensitive to what used to be magical FX back in the days :)
I remember this movie and it's fantastic along with a live action movie. 2 other movies that came out in the same year as this movie are The Rescuers and The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh.

+J Fees (jordanartpants) honestly, just heard about it,the other day, and saw the trailer, #Robert Redford, is a big name, and I like Howard, gotta have a red head in this movie right? I always felt very strongly about this story, and was very proud to have participated, much less, having met huge stars,such as Red Skeleton, ,Mickey Rooney! Shelley Winters, and watched how they worked, which was the real treat. Reddy was actually very kind to us, we recorded with her a bit, having your name on a record with her, wasn't a bad day, for sure. mostly interacted with her on Disney's back lot, truly a magical place, I roamed around every corner, with my few chums, who I think of fondly to this day! any of you Pete's Dragon kids,wanna go see this new one? David? I am almost never satisfied totally with remakes in general, but to bring attention to a part of my past, and this project in particular is ...past and present, something, I will for ever... be grateful!
+Andre' Lambert It definitely deserves it's place with the classics. I had it on VHS as a kid and wore the tape out lol great soundtrack and memorable cast. It's great to hear from someone who has memories on the set and who saw the project come together firsthand. Maybe the remake is an opportunity for you to have an original cast reunion! I newer seen this film before. And i don`t know about it. It looks great!) Strangely. but in the world people still think that combination of animation and live action begin with "who framed roger rabbit?"))
