I haven't debated the request at all, but the premise that one must be able to sing well in order to justify ones belief as to whether or not an artist sounds good is a poor standpoint. Do not get me wrong, I like the song, though I feel it could have done without her throwing so many frills into it. I will say at 1:38 ish she really did sound like a cat that was hit by a car. xD I can't sing, but I can tell when a singer attempts to reach a pitch they haven't trained for, cause their voice breaks or they hit falsetto to cover it up. in her case, at 1:38 her voice broke because her voice can't reach the octave she attempted to get to, thus the screech. HOWEVER, she seemed to enjoy herself, and she got paid for it, so all this is semantic.

WOW. Amazing! Off the top of my head, the only three artists I've seen perform live (sans the auto-tune) and show off awesome vocal control are Beyonce (Queen B!), Adam Lambert and Christina Aguilera. And we all know how remarkably talented those three are. So yeah, this is quite impressive.
I love JJ cos she she sings a hard note and sticks to it, with absolute commitment, and any harmonising is always rendered with total honesty. She's hard, the songs are and need to be great, but she's special cos, even when she's show bizzing (as any serious artist will do) when she backs the song with a hard note, she makes me weep, like Morrissey/Marr at their best. x
