The Griffin surname is derived from the Welsh personal names Griffin, Gruffin, or Griffith. These were pet-forms of the Middle Welsh name Gruffudd, which was borne by many Welsh princes. The name came to Ireland in the 12th century with the Anglo- Norman invasion of Strongbow.

Ireland wasn't a country ,it was a collection of petty kingdoms , England, United Ireland. With brutality at times yes, but that was of it's time, Spain, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands etc etc where also fragmented which leads to the bigger neighbour taking up the slack and they become bigger countries , no different to what happened in Ireland. Most of the land pre Tudor Ireland was owned by the Anglo Irish ,Norman decendants, who had also conquered England and Wales. Please at least get the idea out your head that conquest of Ireland is a recent thing, they've or at least who would become the English have been there nigh on a thousand years. Only thing that changed was who cracked the whip.

Nick Griffin and the BNP need to be handled cleverly. Shouting them down and deriding them publicly will not hold them back forever. Griffin is an Oxford or Cambridge educated man as are many around him. Gerry Adams used to be derided like this by the broadcasting corporations both sides of the border. It didn't do him any harm in the long run. I think Griffin's distasteful but there's no shortage of distasteful people in politics.

nick griffin making a lot of sense! bbc nit picking on figures and trivial things to try and make a show of him!
he's talking about serious and required change! paying decent wages and nhs reform all things this country seriously needs!
granted he is not the solution to the problems but he has some vary valid points!

Griffin doesn't care about NI, he's English. He does not represent the views of protestants in NI.

Nick Griffin & the party he represents may be disgustingly bigoted, but let his outdated beliefs and prejudices mark him out as ridiculous, without resorting to this childish baiting.

I don't know what the situations like in Northern Ireland with immigration but when you can't move for Burkas, Mosques, take aways, rape gangs and drug dealers, you're gonna wish you had listened to Griffin sooner.

@seanquinn4540 what like the disabled woman raped anally in a public toilet in Sweden by Somali migrants a good few years back, the first example of many to spring to mind.
