Well.. i have to commend them for atleast updating the product . Even if i dont run a certain brand, i love to see all brands improve.. 😊 good review sir
I’m about to get 2 of these bad boys installed in my 11 Chevy crew cab. I just finished doing a seat lift today. Great video because I was wondering the difference besides the $ difference.
I used to own a single 10" E series (mainly for the old lady). I put it in a custom built box and I was impressed for what it was. Fair price (at that time anyway) for a surprisingly great performance. Just my 2 cents.
For me I just put 4 Alpine type R 8” in a truck tuned to 36…on a Audio Control LC 1500.1 wired to 2 ohms those Alpines sound fantastic in a truck under the seat with a 10 degree tilt up double ported….boom nobody can argue that it doesn’t sounds amazing……might not hit 141 but honestly who the cares….
@@Chuck_Sanders I wouldn't say that somebody messed up. There's always going to be a limiting factor. And 5 years ago it was pretty reasonable to think "this will never be a problem because you'd have to be throwing like 3,000+ watts at an 8 to find that limit."
Is that 1000watts rms rating conservative or is that pushing it to the max power handling? Knowing sundown it must be conservative and can handle abit more.....
@@theredninja2953We ended up going with a JP23 on the X8"s and hit 132.9 @ 46hz in my daughter's 04 Sierra extended cab. I'm really thinking that we should've gone with a JP33.
Love MB always bringing the truth no matter wahat….I just put 2 of the x8 V3 in a truck and I don’t care what revision it is those bad boys bang out serious bass….Sundown has great subwoofers….I like the v3 better than the G7….did those to and the manufacturer recommendation is 1.4 cf per and thats to big IMHO….if you like punchy bass with extension put the G7 in 1.15 tuned to 36…..superior sound to my ear.
If I had to do it over again I would buy a pair of dd 99 series or the Z series I have a pair dd3515 and I can tell you one thing dds and fi are phenomenal subwoofers sundown is strictly for bass I don't like the sound quality maybe because they are the xv3 series
@matt6951 I thought that also?I have 5 different types of subwoofers dd fi psi sundown and massive audio it all depends on frequency of the subwoofers my fi and psi have a frequency of 34 hertz sundown is 38 hertz dd is38 hertz and massive audio have 42 hertz higher the hertz is designed for all music and a little bit of hip hop the lower the hertz is for reggae rap and Hispanic music That's why when you buy a speaker with lower frequency the manufacturer recommends tuning your enclosure between 29 to 33hertz to prevent damage
And overall all my subwoofers that was hand built in US yes you place a order and it takes a couple of months to receive sound totally different from Chinese built subwoofers less distortion cleaner bass response
To me..... this is just dumb.... I don't mean you MB lol.... The way I look at it i guess is that cone area is king correct? Plus if you pay that kind of money for a subwoofer, as in a expensive. You must want some real bass. If you have the room to put that 8in subwoofer in a correct box, wouldn't you be better off with a larger subwoofer and probably a cheaper one thats going to give you better bass? I can see using an 8in sub because of room but my point being if you have the room for that big mfr, you can probably jist go with a larger subwoofer lol
I have a pair of sundown xv3 12s to me they are not sound quality subwoofers they are made for bass and bass only Im going to say this one more time DD and fi for the win jl audio is great but im not paying that kinda of money I rest my case
@Nirradztnil586 Right now I'm running fi hc 15s series and they sound phenomenal people complain about fi because they are made to order and they don't want to wait a couple of months to receive their products it's worth the wait and the price is afford made in Las Vegas hand made not from a Chinese build house
@bailey2517 the X Series are great subs. If you only listen to like rap and rebassed music. But it really depends on your box. I had a X-15 in a box that was tuned to 29. And anything over like 35 Hertz wasn't there. The zv6s get louder, and sound cleaner. I'm actually about to get a nsv 618. These zv6 is are way too heavy
Sundown is not very good at posting there specs.....they released the u65 months ago and still nothing....Jacob Fuller needs to hire an assistant to work the computers....that is unacceptable from a popular company...What's up Jacob. Whats the hold up...put the little sub in a box and measure the air space...i can do that in 1-day several options.....send me a driver and i will do it for you.
@@M.B.EnclosuresI feel like they made the v4 only to correct the bottoming out issue the v3 had. So they made a taller basket to fix the issue and called it a v4 LOL
@@iJustB58whats funny about that?? sundown hands down, leads the spl aspect of subwoofers... they solved flaws for the consumer.. they revised the u series when some customers broke v1 baskets.. the revised xv3 when it bottoms out at peak wattage... i mean, they are improving quality of an already quality product for the people that spend big hard earned money... ive never purchased a more quality reliable product from a company, than my sundown woofers, except maybe my toyota 4 runner, and honda atv..
@@bdc211 I just feel like they knew about the issue before they released the v3 8” model and didn’t bother to fix it. I mean the issue didn’t happen outta nowhere. They test their products to mechanical limits so I’m sure they seen the issue but didn’t want to put out the money at the time because the only way to fix it was to tool taller baskets. So this time around they fix the issue the v3 had by making the baskets taller like they should’ve been in the first place and call it a v4. The perferations look wider on the updated woofer but I like the surround on the older model for some reason

I feel you. I got 2 Alpine R 12” tuned to 33 on 2 Alpine X-A90M no idea how loud I am but I sound really good
You can hit 141 with more power/better box
Sorry I missed your live feed but nevertheless I'm going to check this out
Maybe the extended backwards movement is to prevent bottoming out?
The X8v3 had an issue where it would impact the top plate on the downstroke. The extra excursion comes from that
@@Chuck_Sanders I don't remember exactly. It was something to do with the triple joint.

@@hazeyfla I wonder how 4 will perform, I was going to run them on a salt 4K. But that’s not terrible. They seem like solid subs for sure.
@theredninja2953 if it's in the budget, you might want to look at a Salt 6k to help with box rise but they should take every bit of a 4k no problem.
They made the basket and the cone taller and narrow so it can move faster just my opinion
The 5 rolls on the spider are fuzz taller thicker
😂

looks like they just made the outer rim of the basket wider/thicker metal and used the same spider
And this is correct
No, the spider is wider than the v3. Allows for cleaner xmax
Is the distance between the spider rolls different maybe they added space but not , do you think that would make a difference?
Same spider
It is a larger spider. Read the official description on the website.
Anything on power handling?
I have a box built for two v.3s, would the v.4 size difference affect my airspace enough to matter? Thanks
Not really. Its the same magnet, just a slightly bigger basket. It should retain basically the same tuning
Can you fit 4 of them subwoofers under the seats of a 2023 gmc sierra
Yes
What amplifier do you need to power 4 of them subwoofers ? Same brand for amplifier?
A salt 6 would be nice
