  • Join me on another amazing walk in Dorset, this time starting at Shapwick and following the River Stour and River Tarrant, taking in the villages of Tarrant Crawford, Tarrant Keynston and Spetisbury, as well as the Spetisbury Rings Hill Fort with its breathtaking views. With two churches, two mills, some lovely meadows, great views and beautiful spring sunshine, this is a walk to be savoured. Hope you enjoy!

On point with this one. The beautiful village of Chadwick, grassy fields, rolling distant views, narrow trails, rail trails, ancient mounds and churches all described with their history. Brilliant

Delightful walk with summer having arrived. The swan on the river, with sound of the cuckoo with view down to the old bridge is unchanged for hundreds of years. The old partially restored train station also quite unique so thanks for great vlog😊

What a wonderful walk, I really enjoyed that, from the delightful little churches at the beginning to that lovely bridge. You deserved that beer and it looked so good. I agree with you about grasses 🤗

Glorious British countryside Terry 🧙‍♂ And lovely to hear the cuckoos. Where I live, south of Bristol, I've not heard one for four years, which is a sad indictment of our rural policies I'm afraid. That looks the best "cup of coffee" I've seen in a long time, and it brought back memories of a visit to the Anchor many years ago, one warm summer's evening. How many refills did it take to complete your sign-off? 🍺🍺🍺 Bev

Ah, thanks so much Bev 😀 To be honest, the cuckoo is fairly rare down here too and it was great to hear so many along the river. lol, I only had the one 'coffee' ☕️🤣 Terry

Beautiful video as always. When was this filmed?
I loved hearing the Cuckoo's. How blessed are we to have this on our doorstep. Xx

That's interesting there is a Shapwick here in Somerset but its pronounced as it's spelt 'Shap-Wick', I wonder if that is to differentiate the two!? Great walk as usual, thank you.

Ah, thank you 😀 I suspect the silent W may be partly historic as most people (not living there) pronounce the W. I’d be interested to know what local residents today think 😀

Absolutely gorgeous ... is any of it wheelchair accessible?

Ah, thank you 😀 The old railway line is wheelchair accessible I think, but I'm not sure if the rest of it would be as the paths/tracks are probably not smooth enough.

That's a really nice circuit. Am familiar with the places but not the whole route. Will have to give it a go!

"The futility of earthly positions "... that must have really cheered the poor peasants slaving under their overlords in the 13th century!
