- Bagendon is an archaeological site located near Cirencester in the Cotswolds District of Gloucestershire, England. It is an Iron Age hillfort that dates back to the 1st century BCE. The hillfort is situated on a hill overlooking the Churn Valley and covers an area of approximately 16 hectares.
Bagendon was an important settlement during the Iron Age and was occupied by the Dobunni tribe, who were a Celtic people. The hillfort was fortified with defensive earthworks, including ramparts and ditches, which would have provided protection to the inhabitants.
Excavations at Bagendon have revealed evidence of roundhouses, storage pits, and other structures, indicating that it was a thriving community. The site has also yielded a significant number of artifacts, such as pottery, coins, and metalwork, providing insights into the daily lives of the people who lived there.
One of the notable features of Bagendon is its proximity to the Roman town of Corinium - modern-day Cirencester (Capital of the Cotswolds). The hillfort may have served as a precursor to the Roman settlement and could have had strategic importance in the region.
Today, Bagendon is an important archaeological site and is managed by English Heritage. Visitors can explore the site and learn about its history through information panels and guided tours. It offers a glimpse into the Iron Age past of the area and the cultural and social aspects of the people who inhabited it.

Kevin, this MUST go down as one of your all-time classics! Not only is the village and countryside perfect, but, the number of different birds in the background has reconfirmed my faith in the British countryside's ability to provide the perfect dawn chorus! I have replayed your video a number of times and have counted 16 different bird songs. A genuinely fantastic video I will log it as one of my all-time greats, and view it again and again, every time I feel stressed. Thank you, Kevin.

Though I am neither British, nor. European or. American, but from my childhood the way I was a part of England,by reading Enid Blyton, Biggles, Sherlock Holmes, I agree with your statement British must cherish their country side. How ever I feel Britain has taken a roll since Beatles. A culture which has changed the attitude of pre war Britain.
I am from deep in the Appalachia. This is so very similar to here. The Quiet, the peace, the song birds, and the Whimsy. I wouldn't trade a thing for this type of life! It's a true blessing 🙌 some days you don't hear a car or a person just nature!
England is so beautiful. We brits should cherish it.

I’m an American, who went to England in the 70’s and during my time there I went on many Walking/Hiking tours around the country, went to the Cotswolds and am happy that some of this beautiful countryside looks the same.

I’m American, but just a few hundred years ago many of my ancestors were living in England and Ireland. Someday I’ll visit and walk around like this, looks so nice.

But in my fantasies I buy a small parcel of land, and plant it up with oaks, hawthorns, bluebells, everything classically English that can grow here ... so people can come and see what a little bit of England might be like; and we don't have to travel halfway around the world to see it. 🙂

This looks like some imagination coming to a reality, this is exactly how the cities, towns of the world should be, vast open green spaces full of trees and grasses, birds, farm animals, NO over crowding, NO traffic, NO loud sounds, NO Packed up Buildings side by side, NO dust or dirt or smoke, ouffff😅 If u look at the aerial view of some advanced cities it would probably look like a "circuit board" with capacitors and electrical paths, totally alien😅 THIS, is how u feel like Planet EARTH, like a home❤Love it, its a total bliss just watching 😊

I know this video has been here awhile, but it is one of my favorites! I am a 69 year old widow who walks with my fitbit in my room to walks in the UK. I am originally from Upstate New York between the Catskills and the Adirondack Mountains, but reside in South Carolina now. But my roots are in the UK on the telly. and I long to walk the land. I especially appreciate this video because of the mix of village to countryside. My favorite walk videos are in the country or beautiful parks, especially in the Lake District. Thank you for your quality walks and the gorgeous views.
I was very interested in your post. What is a Fitbit? I would like to know how one walks to videos in a room. I am 71 and apparently not as up to date on some devices as some of you younger RUclipsrs! If I cannot walk the real England again I would like to walk it virtually. :)
@MW-tk5nf A fitbit luxe is what I have...it is a fitness watch...I put it around my ankle (with a twist tie to extend fit) so it doesn't count arm movements..it does several functions I use it for heart rate and step counting...I just walk in place or back and forth, the views really keep me going and i can watch on my phone what the app says I am accomplishing..I don't have a treadmill and I do 10,000 steps a day at least. My doctor is impressed.. if you want to get your heartbeat up you can do a bit of dancing and arm movements...it works well for me...I also have a Bluetooth headset so I can mute the TV while I walk but listen to podcasts or a book from my phone. I am 69 years old and don't have a car.

@MW-tk5nf I also watch several other people who post walking videos...just do a search in RUclips for walking in the countryside in the uk, and that will get you started
Hello, I happened to be lazily surfing on RUclips and saw your piece. Interesting enough I live not far from Cooperstown, NY and to be over that way EARLY in the morning is just lovely and similar to this video. I used to work at the Farmers Museum in the farmhouse. Being there early in the am was a dream. I have thought I could easily live in a little thatched roof cottage. I can imagine what it was like long ago. As a comparison, we have it so good these days.

Being a Yorkshireman having had the pleasure of growing up in the wilds of the moors, lakes and hills, as well as living in Japan for eight years and enjoying the majesty of that natural volcanic island, seeing this enchanting video of Bagendon fills me with such metaphysical longing that it's hard to convey in words. Suffice it to say, England, particularly the Cotswolds, is perhaps one of the most spiritually enriching places to meander on an early morning. Wonderful video, thank you.

The UK in our textbooks is now an old and small country despite having a pretty good economy. I have never been to England to appreciate its beauty, but I have come in contact with many English people, and I have been fortunate enough to have never met an angry or rude Englishman. The British in my impression are very kind, polite and charitable people, I have not seen them do anything wrong in my country. And I found the English to be the exact opposite of the French I met.

I go Biking,Walking,Camping & Metal detecting around ENGLAND and i love going into the cemetery of Churches and reading the headstones (Yes I'm weird) And i found one headstone dated 1641 when the lady passed away she was 66 YO so she was born in the 1500's thats the oldest one I've ever found can't for the life of me remember the church's name but this was in the 1990's..😃👍
I have watched this many times. Even my pets are relaxed listening to the birdsong.

Wow! Back in the mid-1980s, my son and I came from the US to explore Taunton, where my English ancestor emigrated from in 1644, during the civil war. My English friend who escorted us there took long routes from London and back, which included stops at places like this. We did not get to the Cotswolds, but many of the scenes here remind me of the places we did see, and the birds. Thank you for sharing!

After the Civil War 1922 in Ireland, all the tree's were cut down as they were a reminder of British occupation. What a tragedy. Our countryside is barren in comparison to what's shown in this wonderful video. Thank you.
