- Gametes are reproductive cells (sex cells) that unite during sexual reproduction to form a new cell called a zygote. In humans, male gametes are sperm and female gametes are ova (eggs). Sperm are motile and have a long, tail-like projection called a flagellum. Ova however, are non-motile and relatively large in comparison to the male gamete.
Gametes are produced by a type of cell division called meiosis. They are haploid, meaning that they contain only one set of chromosomes. When the haploid male and female gametes unite in a process called fertilization, they form what is called a zygote. The zygote is diploid and contains two sets of chromosomes.

May I know why can't I use Punnett Square to determine the genotype in these scenarios? Thanks!
You can - this would take 10 times longer.
thats legit man
Why do we ignore the homozygous once..
The do not produce any variation. What variation you can get from AABBCC or AAbbCC or aabbcc?
Thank you so much😇
You're welcome 😊

@@GeneticsLessons thanks alot
Merci
Very well explained but what if all the alleles are homozygous?
The answer is obvious.
@@GeneticsLessons ummm ya.. it would give only 1gamete
Thank you sir 🍫
Most welcome
Hi, why do we ignore the homozygous dominant and recessive alleles?
Because they do not add anything to variation AA produce only one variant A any number multiplied by 1 is the same number.
And for instance genotype AAbbCCddEE only can produce one variant of the game's AbCdE. Only heterozygous loci add to the gametes variation.

Any time
Are the homozygous recessive and dominant are not belong in doing fork line method? just the heterozygous?
No they do your effect variations.
Super clear good job keep up the good job
