I went To Belarus on new year's Eve for more than a week. Concerning beer, I pretty much every time ordered the Lidskae (Лидское) draft beer at the restaurant. No matter whether it's dark or blond, it tastes very good and has absolutely nothing To envy To western countries' beer. And I always felt the necessity of ordering a second one. Of course along with vodka!
Dublin and Minsk are located at the same latitude of 53 degrees. Therefore, in my opinion, the dark and light time of day should be the same. Bulbash vodka is tough, but try Zubrovka from the manufacturer Bulbash. It`s gorgeous.

The things you complain about, are some of the things that make Belarus, Belarus. You say in another video that you like how Belarus still has its culture instead of being a commercialized culture-less mishmosh like Europe is becoming, and the way to keep a culture intact is to make living within it difficult so you don't have tons of outsiders coming in and saying "Wow it's easy to live here, now let's work on making it like where I came from!".
Thanks for the great and interesting video as well as the whole channel. I'm belorussian and I live in Minsk, and I completely understand all your points however personally I just love cheese)) but the card in Euro thing. If you just try to pay by card in a store, it doesn't matter what the currency is there, the bank applies exchange rates automatically. Maybe that place was kinda specific? Outdated software/hardware? Or the locals just didn't know that? Anyway, you definitely can use your cards in euros (as well as US dollars, Russian rubles, etc.) everywhere in Belarus without any restrictions.
you know, when an immigrant to a country goes "this place has a lot of potential for business, but..." it's a bit like Jack Carter, or Christopher Columbus, or Cook, or Cortez, standing on a beach, saying "this place has a lot of potential, but the Amerindians aren't very open to being exploited by us"...
I'm Irish and living in Arizona. My number one hate here is the weather too. It's the opposite though, the summers here are brutal. 35 - 40C every day for months, it's horrible. The winters are beautiful though.
Mid April in Belarus is still cold, same for October. You are incredibly generous about their weather comment, especially if one enjoys outdoors sports like running/biking, in Belarus can be unpleasant for around 6 months of the year.
Gytis K I’m working in North Finland and it just snowed mid May. But the locals don’t moan about the weather, they seem happy with it and for me it’s shite weather..and I’m from the U.K.
I will taste test every beer brand. The crucial factor is freshness. Beer ages like milk. Stock must be rotated so that old beer doesn't linger as new beer is bought ahead of it.
Part of the reason you had/have mild winters in Ireland was because of the moderating effet of the gulf stream. You would not get such a thing in Belarus.
It's not Russian culture to smile at people you don't know. Russian people frequently look miserable to Westerners. I don't know if it's different in Belarus.
Just found the channel and have been binge watching for hours. A likely answer to the currency and bureaucracy issues is simply: national sovereignty. To this I'd add what you pointed out in another video about visas: one has to enter and depart via Minsk airport to travel there visa-free. Leaving overland to Russia or Latvia after having entered the country visa-free via air will get one into big trouble. From the standpoint of a tourist, that's certainly maddening. It makes no sense. But try looking at it in a way that does make sense. Viewed from a sovereign Belarus perspective, it may make perfect sense that Belarus would not allow people who enter the country visa-free by air to do things (such as enter and exit the country via 3rd countries) which ordinarily require a visa. From that perspective, Belarus isn't inconveniencing anyone. On the contrary, they're giving the legitimate visitor to the country a break, while punishing those who would take advantage of visa-free airport entry to get up to God knows what in and out of Russia, Latvia, and Ukraine. One isn't allowed to use Euros in Belarus because it's a foreign currency. Love the channel!
You get a better rate in the local currency with credit cards. The same applies across Europe when you're using sterling credit cards , always pay in local currency. The social system isn't geared towards business due to its Soviet legacy and current leadership. The weather is continental . We're lucky in Ireland and Britain to have the North Atlantic drift , milder winters and cooler summers.
Love your Belarus videos keep them coming. I have been a few times, last in Nov 2019 to Brest. Love the country and people. Will go back when virus is over. Hey can you do a Brest visit and show the famous bison in nearby forest? Thanks

Hi. I'm Syrian American citizen. I used to live in Ireland near Dublin. And was married to belarusian. My question is how u mange to stay long time in Belarus. As I know theirs residency rules are horrible?
their residency rules are actually too easy. just have enough money in the bank to prove solvency. and/or buy a home so you give yourself reason to need to live there. and or start a business or get employment. then apply.
For your gallstones, at least you have access to medical care there. In the Evil Empire, you just get sicker and sicker and sicker until it's an emergency then you go to the Emergency Room.
Hey, bulgarian here(half russian), living in England, found you from Bold, I have an interesting question for you, can you compare Bulgaria and Belarus please? About number three. It's better to have worker owned cooperatives than to sell your country and your people to foreigners. Also in worked owned cooperatives and state owned enterprises workers have a right to form a syndicate. I am from Serbia and here if you try to form a syndicate in a private or especially foreign private enterprise, you get fired, that's why syndicates are non-existent here, they do exist in some enterprises but only formally. And we are a former socialist country too, we were once part of Yugoslavia.
Well, I prefer Russian/Belarussian/Baltic cold and snowy winter, I live in Scotland at the moment and I hate the weather here, especially in winter, it's rainy, it's wet, it's nasty cold all the time and I never get this winter mood, which I had with proper -15'°C winter in my home country

There is a whole lot of bureaucracy in Lithuania too, I believe it is a legacy left by the Soviet Union. You wouldn't imagine the paperwork involved when we got married there this year. I believe one of the women from the registry office asked us 'Your priest is letting YOU get married here? But you're Irish!'. The documents, soo many documents... Not to mention the need for each one to be translated and verified by the Irish Government..... it was such a costly procedure!!

If you could help I would be so great full!!
The reason you LIKE BR is the same reason you don't like BR...not part of European Union, can't use the Euro, no mass invasion of foreigners, immigrants, tourists, multi-culturalism....
Irish Partizan they have agreements with the EU, giving them half-member like status. This isn’t the same for Belarus as it’s a dictatorship that the EU rightly doesn’t want to engage with
The red tape argument might actually be a benefit in some cases? There may be a fear of ending up looking something like Moldova for example(saw videos by Mr Bald and Bankrupt) or other horribly poor and decrepit areas of Russia and the former Soviet Union since the fall of the USSR. When money floods in from outsiders it doesn't often benefit the people of the country where it is pumped into. If Belarus is quite stable then there could be a fear of the grass not always being greener.

In the Evil Empire, you just get sicker and sicker and sicker until it's an emergency then you go to the Emergency Room.
just found your channel love the content ive just subed
Awesome thank you!
I'd imagine you'd have been crossed off a few Christmas card list's there.
LOL!
Hey, bulgarian here(half russian), living in England, found you from Bold, I have an interesting question for you, can you compare Bulgaria and Belarus please? (I've been in AU in Blagoevgrad A fiew times, I was working in the educational field back then and I know, the students live quite isolated, so I wonder what are your impressions of the country). Also Bulgaria and Ireland?
Zdrasti! Bulgarians are a lot more louder and in your face. Food is better in BUL than in BLR, plus you have the sea. However women are hotter in BLR.

But guys lighten up for christs sake
HAHA i love this guy, says what he thinks and hes not afraid even when its gonna make him hated!
but of course, there are no irish left that are afraid, they all died under their english oppressors!
Haha, comic. I love the inscenation. Number 5 reversed, I hate the fact that i cannot pay in Belarusian rubles in my country!
Cheese on chicken, on fish, on pork, on bread....
I'm on my way!
Damnit! You have me doing a pork o'clock now with beer.
@@IrishPartizan Oh, you poor thing, how ever will you survive such inhumane conditions?!
:P
One day he will become as depressing and glum as the people around him ))
@@JayHendricksWorld you do realise pigs eat their own faeces?
@@MisterSolitude Are you completely unfamiliar with how conversion of nutrients work?
I have an idea for you about small talk, [ you just pretend that they said how about you] and go right ahead and tell them about your week end , with out them asking. Then you are in charge of the moment
I came to know your channel through your friend mr.bald and bankrupt you also got good content hello from Minsk
In all of the former USSR countries people seem to be a bit glum and depressed was it basically bet into the ancestors not to show happiness?
Also isn't there loads of red tape in Belarus because it's essentially a dictatorship?
I love ur frankness !🌺
10:05. Looks like Pripyat with that charming abandoned park look
I like your videos thank you for sharing
Lol, these are exactly the reasons (minus cheese situation) why I moved from Minsk to London.

It's cold and dark here.
@@IrishPartizan We have the same latitude with Ireland and the same day in duration.
And it’s warmer in your country only because it is warmed by the Gulf Stream :)
We have a lot of red tape in America too
Moved to Thailand from Ireland and it was absolutely amazing not to feel depressed in Winter!
Spend enough time in Thailand ( i lived there 12 years ) and you may miss the change of Seasons ,and get annoyed with the extreme heat April,May and June ,but i would rather be back in Thailand.
@@anthonydowling3356 Wow. 12 years! l am in Malaysia now. lt's cool at night thankfully. Mosquitos are my biggest challenge but pros definitely outweigh the cons!
Regarding point number 5 - consider Australia. 10-11 months of intense summer 30+ everyday and night, brown washed out monocolour lighting. Far more depressing than a short 6 month winter.
In Australia more territory its desert..2/3% square.. but in very dry and heat warm climate..in summer in Alice Springs more +40-45C...
First one is easy : to provide support for local production, in SSSR way of economy thinking
The same for red tape and bureaucracy, especially in business
Just found your channel..Number 5 should be No 1!
Also as a nutritionist its a myth that cheese is bad for you its full of healthy fats very low in lactose
Eat more cheese!
Why is Belarus darker than Ireland in winter? They are pretty much on the same latitude, Minsk is somewhere between Dublin and Dundalk.
Pa tako je, ti si absolutan prav 👏🏻
Well, I prefer Russian/Belarussian/Baltic cold and snowy winter, I live in Scotland at the moment and I hate the weather here, especially in winter, it's rainy, it's wet, it's nasty cold all the time and I never get this winter mood, which I had with proper -15'°C winter in my home country
Scotland its very wet country..
I did not understand the thing about the bank card and euro ?
We are so sad because we practice learned helplessness all us live
Cheese makes everything better :)
Yes!!!! Why cheese???? On everything! Even when you get a steak there’s cheese! It’s brutal
I'm curious, how and where did you learn your Russian?. It's very good according to my Russian wife. Happy new year to you.
LOL !!!! The comment on the vodka was priceless !!
I guess I love everything you hate. =)) Except the fact that I love cheese, but as long as it's vegan.
why they put cheeseee on pizzaaa?!??!??!?!?
Exactly! Italians never do that.....especially those in the South.
Cheese on pizza started in Naples I believe.
I agree with almost all points)
You can buy stuff online, bps sberbank is the best for foreign transactions and than ship your stuff to russia to save on customs fees. I use shophelp.by service , they bring my things from smolensk to minsk
Can you help me find a citizen? I hired a Soviet citizen in 1991 to work at the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati. She was terrific! We all loved her and wanted to help her in any way possible. I’ve tried to find her on social media. I have an old address but it’s been 29 years. I would love to find her. She was married with two small boys. I want to find her. If you could help I would be so great full!!
No carbs. Get som Sir - deliciouse fatreduced chees
The Yak Museum there is a cool place to visit.
Where is that?
Mate, spend some time in the US . Every meal is a cheese fest!
Taco’s 🌮 burrito’s 🌯 tostada’s 😋
The reason you LIKE BR is the same reason you don't like BR...not part of European Union, can't use the Euro, no mass invasion of foreigners, immigrants, tourists, multi-culturalism....
How much does a pint cost ?
"like a funeral broke out" 😂😂
I cannot find 5 things I hate, only 1 - that it's the most boring country I've ever been to. I like the women though :)
We know ;)
Don't complain about bureaucracy there...come to Croatia and you will meet the winner 🙄
Americans put cheese on everything. American eyes light up when the words "extra cheese" appear.
Weather sounds just like canada lol
Love Canadian weather. Hot in summer, crisp in winter.
You cant pay in euros in Belarus, bcs its not EU?Try paying in belarusian roubles in Ireland.I can easily predict their reaction.
You can pay by card online in €€€ in Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein and none of them are in the EU.
@@IrishPartizan And they are EU countries in all but the name. And have massive trade agreements with EU
