  • American Thrift Supply reached out to me about doing an unboxing of some of their mystery boxes you can purchase online through their website. I received a micro-bale of dresses as well as a Premium Denim Box. In this box, I give an honest review of what I think about these boxes, especially from the perspective of a reseller. Are these mystery boxes worth the amount they cost? All those questions are answered and more in this video!

      Exactly. My fellow reseller friend and I were talking about how it’s kind of “toxic” that many influencers get these amazing pallets and then normal people/those just starting out get the shaft when they drop $$ on them!

    Just the IDEA of steaming those things at the hope of making a couple of dollars is NIGHTMARE material haha. Great video and loved your unfiltered feedback, it appears pretty evident they likely just pack whatever doesnt sell in the store into these packs. I'm sure it's also part luck of the draw, but the ratio just doesnt seem profitable, reminds me a lot of your goodwill mystery bag episode. So glad you got it for free and this is still a fun video format to watch.

    The Pants Store is a family owned department store chain in Alabama. It is a HUGE deal, there! Most people have gotten back to school clothes, game day gear and/or dresses for soririty recruitment. A lot of people are finally finding out about it after Bama rush blew up on Tiktok last year. I'd try listing it if only for that.

    Definitely an example of showing they do NOT handpick things for RUclipsrs to open. Yikes. I’ve not seen a single micro bale that was worth it. Like all worse than the bins. But hopefully ThredUP will take some of it, I would try a partner kit for better odds.

    • @ExplorewithEast

      The company must think people are going to lie…but re sell numbers don’t lie. They’d be better sending these to a you tuber who uses the fabric to make purses or something. This surely doesn’t make them look good for her audience!

    You are totally a good sport and I'm glad that you didn't pay for this crap. I assume that they make money from volumes - I see alot of folks ordering these boxes - and so don't care that much if it's very hit or miss. I did order a purse box - it was just one bag for $39 and it turned out to be a NWT Coach that I was able to resell for $90. BUT - the huge expensive clothes boxes seem like too much of a gamble and now you have just confirmed my feeling. We appreciate you!

    Becky, I’m seeing a lot of “new brands” that I think are made up words from Amazon. Like when someone buys a shirt that is branded “Topseez”. And then you see seven other “companies” with the exact same shirt under similarly silly brand names. Occasionally, I waste a minute at the thrift when one does a decent job of attaching a decent looking tag on a decent quality piece. I think my fear of passing on a high end unknown brand causes me to look something up that deep down, I know is not good.

  • @Jsgamingworld52
    @Jsgamingworld52 2 года назад +3

    I have gotten 2 of the dress boxes. The first one I had a coupon code of some sort that they sent me for making an account and got it for 125ish - Listed everything - 5 pieces I did not ( damaged) - I already doubled my money on that box and still have a lot listed - this 2nd box I also had a code for , 148ish, and will be listing everything , but 4 pieces that are damaged. I have been a full time reseller since 2000 (back when Yahoo even had an auction site!! aging myself LOL) , but I list everything I get. Everything will sell. The first few items that sold for me from that first box were a Target dress, a Time & tru dress , and 3 old navy dresses!! I had quite a few Anthro pieces and they are still sitting!! So I know resellers today like to say time is money etc , but every bit of items that you are listing and selling does add up!! You might make 12.00 on a dress, but if you are selling 8 12.00 dresses a day that adds up. With me being full-time at reselling , if I am going to list 20 items - it really does not take much more time to list a couple of low cost items.

    • @Jsgamingworld52
      @Jsgamingworld52 2 года назад +1

      I also have to add that i have gotten really quick at listing - I can photograph and list sometimes 50 items a day. My son gets mad when I go on one of those binges, but I do try and do at least 10 a day.

    • @Vinnie-cv5qv
      @Vinnie-cv5qv Год назад +1

      I agree with you. I started selling on ebay in 2003 and sold everything from Gucci to lower end items. I watch the youtube videos and have a chuckle as these new sellers are chasing BOLOS and thumb their nose at brands they consider beneath them. I am retired now but am a full time seller because I am so good at it. I am fast at listing and will sell all types of clothes. I got this dress bale and listed 90% of it and after all fees pocked about $740 profit. I can list 50 items in one sitting without breaking a sweat. I am amazed how so much is thrown in the "donate" pile and the "not worth my time" pile. Well I have over 5000 items listed and made a profit of $103K after fees, IRS taxes and COG. I streamline everything and hire my teen age son to help. This lowers my taxes and he puts the money he makes in a ROth IRA and has pocket money. I will take a $5 profit any day over donating an item. It does not take long to list, post and ship if your are efficient. I even built a shed in the back yard just for storing inventory. If people want to be serious about making big money in reselling, they have to treat it like a business and be extremely efficient. I can have this entire bale of dresses up in about 3 days. If you look at this as a part-time business, that is fine too, but you need to be realistic what you expect to make. For those that want to make this a very serious profitable business, they should look at the videos by Daily Refinement. I paid off my mortgage in three years reselling and people do buy walmart, target and khols clothing. Searching for a pair of "Mother" jeans and waiting for that golden sale is time lost when you can easily sell many lower end brands and make the same profit. The trick is to be extremely efficient. I ship out anywhere from 20 on a slow day to 60 items a day.

    The pants store is a really nice expensive local Alabama boutique actually, it’s been around over 50 years, they started out as a pants store, they do sell like infant smocked babtism clothing,womens cute boutique stuff and mens higher end items. That was fun to see you pull that out, the new directions is very common here in Alabama it’s a belk brand. I swear I have seen all those brands you are pulling out, horrible! Except for the pants store one. But nobody knows about it so it’s a hard sell. They sell for over 100.00. Read my other comment lots of info on the americas thrift store chains!

    Does your school have a closet for low income kids to get essentials(deoderant, feminine hygiene products, snacks etc)? If so you could try donating some of the clothes there.
    My mom works at a highschool and she often has some extra clothes in her cupboard for kids who forget gym strip or for those who wear inapropriate clothes.

    I think their packers need a lesson on what "premium" denim is! The price on the premium denim has since gone up $10 and the jeans I received included Seven7, Lucky Brand, Lee, and worn out Miss Me! Def not worth it :(

    Americas Thrift is my local thrift store. We have several here and not many goodwills. They’re very hit and miss but yeah they sent you all the crap. I’m so sorry. Maybe send it to thredUP and use the credits to buy decent or designer pieces?

    A quick, but not perfect way to dewrinkle the low dollar items is to throw them in the dryer for a few minutes with a damp item.
