This honestly made me really excited for my smart doll. I havent gotten her yet but I'm planning to get the summer doll with a large bust, hand pack 2 and red eyes (left eye is gunna be red) and this made my heart soar. I hope my reaction will be the same as you had but imma probably cry lol

I completely understand I don't like the sharp kind of squinty eyes either. That is why I'm so happy I have the original Kizuna doll.

When you said you thought she was originally gonna come on Halloween, it made me think of when I got Mirai on Halloween. And congratulations on finally getting her! I remember I had wanted a Smart Doll for so long and I finally have one. I really want to relive the experience of unboxing her. But maybe I will for my birthday when and IF I am able to get Chitose

It's odd and wonderful - I'm not usually into Smart Dolls (though they are gorgeous!) but Bee is one of my favorite dolls-that-aren't-mine :D She just makes me happy in every video she's in! I think that's the appeal of her, she brings smiles. :)

No problem Hun! I know they're all so adorable, I really like Kanata but im not a fan of her faceup, it makes her look to angry, so if i got her i'd definitely change her makeup. Sana is the only Tea skinned girl that i love, Her face is just so cute! It's a tough choice, I always wanted an anime styled boy doll and if your into the anime dolly's you know how hard it is to find a boy. I have a 1/4th resin scale Akagi Yair sculpt and i have a Dollfie Dream Hatsune Miku!

I'm just now new to the realm of anime-style dolls, so I'm not that knowledgeable yet, although I have heard others voice their frustrations about finding boys. I wouldn't mind getting a Smart Doll boy at some point myself... not sure what I'd do with him though ^^; only thing is, I have a lot of things on my wish list ahhhhh ;V; The 1/4 Akagi Yair is so sweet, and I love DD Mikus!
Yeah there's a lot of anger about the lack of boy dolls, which Volks has been around for many years so you would think they would've had a bunch of boy dolls made already but guess we just have to wait! But my two dolly's that i have now are actually two of my dream dolls! I've known about BJD's for a few years but i figured i would never be able to afford one so i kind of just dreamed about them and i saw the Yair sculpt and just knew that he was the one. So many years later i got him for my 18th birthday present.

Oh wow that's so cool that they are your dream dolls! Congrats! I was very much in the same boat when it comes to admiring BJDs from afar, and thinking they were unobtainable in that way. I'm not sure what changed exactly, but I spotted a doll that I just fell in love with - a Luts Senior Delf Clary - and I worked my butt off to make it happen. As it turns out, I don't actually have her anymore (white resin was not for me), but I have absolutely no regrets! Thanks to her, I got such a great entry into this hobby

As for where to get one, well unless you are in Tokyo (to visit the Mirai Store), or manage to find one second hand, the only place to buy a Smart Doll is from the online store: shop.smartdoll.jp (their site is very easy to navigate, and their customer service is great). Culture Japan will have a stall at AnimeNYC next weekend too, so that could be an option for you as well! I know they're premiering their new doll body 'cortex' there, and will be taking preorders from people.

I was so incredibly excited! It was cool to catch the moment on camera (although I did edit out a bunch of squeeing lol). Haruka is awesome! I hope we get news of her sometime soon. I adore the tea skin

Smart dolls come with a telescopic stand, so yes, the stand is already there 🙂 there are different types of stands you can buy separately as well though! But by default dolls come with one.

I own a smart doll. How I remove the head and shoulders is I pinch the neck and wiggle the head (same thing with arms). When I brush the wig I take it off the head most times and hold it in my hand and brush from the bottom up. Then I take the head off to decrease risk of breaking a part in the neck. (Extra careful about it because when my dad helped me get the wig on for the second time he was too rough with my poor Mirai that he ended up breaking a part in the neck. Going to get her fixed.)

I've had a lot of time to play around with my doll since opening her, and have become very comfortable removing her head/arms/etc :) It really is something that takes practice, but you tend to get used to it pretty quick. As far as advice for their articulation goes, I would say to play with your doll by posing them etc as much as you can before you dress them ...sounds weird, but this way it'll make sure you are more familiar with the joining system before you can't see them. Look at the joints closely too! The way they move really makes sense once you see how they're put together.
With clothing, pretty much all 1/3 scale clothing will fit! So that includes Dollfie dream and Bjd clothes too. If you search SD doll clothes on Etsy/eBay/etc, you'll be sure to find plenty 😊
As for care, a lot of it is common sense really. It's best to store them out of direct sunlight, and to avoid leaving them sitting around in dark clothes (it can transfer onto the vinyl, staining it).

Thank you! And no I didn't! I asked Culture Japan if they could under-declare her on the customs form, and they happily obliged. Even if I hadn't asked them though, I probably would have been okay - a friend of mine didn't, and they didn't have to pay any customs fees either. Still, I felt better doing it this way, since I'd rather be safe then sorry :P
I know smart dolls are used for sketching and drawing etc. But what else are they used for? I know certain ones you can start from scratch and draw the features on yourself . But what exactly are smart dolls for? thanks :) If they are just cool collectors things then i totally get it.
Hiya! This confused me initially too tbh haha! Since they're called "Smart Dolls" I automatically assumed they must do something else. As far as I know though, for the most part they are just cool collectors things. Although, you can get a special torso that can hold a battery and has usb slots for charging your devices - dannychoo.com/en/posts/smart-doll-usb-hub (random, but cool haha). The creator of Smart Dolls did use a doll as a case for an android stick PC, so there's that too lol dannychoo.com/en/posts/miraicon
Most people collect them to customise (from scratch/with clothes etc) and for photography. It really depends what you're into though. Hope this helped answer your question! :)

I ordered Gaia to transform her into Hilda from Pokemon Black and White. I ordered the clothes from all around the world and it will take a lot of work to mod.
I always thought these dolls were smart phones.... figured you hook up a usb and they do something amazing.
I thought the same thing when I first heard of them! You can get USB hub torso, as well as a USB charger part from the Smart Doll store though. Also, I think Danny modded a Mirai to be a case for an Android Stick PC, so that's a thing :'D
