One of the best things my wife and I did was taking turns getting a good night's rest. Instead of us taking turns waking up each night, we just swapped nights. As long as one of us was fresh and awake (instead of us both drowsy), we handled things much better.
I've lost count how many times I've watched this video, and every time I've cried. No 11 - No matter what they do, how much they stress you out, take a few seconds and always think of this.......what would you do if they were gone. Sobering thought to get you through any sleepless night, tantrum, public meltdown or teenage rebellion. No one gets it right 100% of the time. Luckily kids forgive easily. It's a shame as adults we hold grudges and life becomes less colourful. Parenthood is a privellege not a right. Cherish that. I do 4 times over 💖💖💖💖
Now that I'm older and more mentally mature, I'm slowly starting to understand and appreciate how much my parents have done for me in my life, how much they must love me. And I actually feel really bad as to how long it took for me to realise this, I was such a happy, oblivious child and never learned to truly appreciate my parents until so much later. :'|

This is perfect and so beautiful! After four daughters, I can say one important thing to remember is that each baby is a puzzle, you just have to put together the pieces. You are getting to know him or her as much as he or she is getting to know the world.

As a father of three who are high school/early college age, I would say that don't worry that you'll have to do everything perfect in order to raise an amazing child into an amazing adult. Just provide structure, consistency, gentle guidance and LOTS AND LOTS of love. They will do the rest on their own and become amazing people. Trust me on this!

Looking back I realized how simple life was when my kids were small and how much more demanding it gets when they get bigger -- more running, more money, bigger problems, much less or no control, outside influences, and constantly reacting to things you didn't have control over in the first place.

Get on a schedule! We are still trying to figure that out. Running a tight ship is easier said than done! But we have learned that consistency goes a LONG way and is great for the kids. Then it becomes routine and they know what to expect and find comfort in the routine.

Agree with everything except the schedule idea. Trying to force what you think should be happening on a little person is only going to piss off the little person and frustrate you. Instead of implementing a schedule, learn your child's schedule, they will develop their own bedtime, their own nap times and eating times and they will be consistent, you kust have to be realistic and not expect a new born to sleep through the night, or do much more then eat, sleep, poop.
Like a 2nd mother since 8 yrs.old Too young to take care of baby. Younger siblings needs to have parents but parents are at work. So older sister needs to take care of younger sister. We're 9 and I'm the 5th. A lot of tasks at home. At the teenage life, baby sit with my cousins 2 years old and below. Oh I feel like I'm a back up mother of their real mother. You know the crying that they want their own mom and running around everywhere like they don't stop. Carry here, carry there, carry baby everywhere. Making milk, wash baby's clothes, do the poopy pop, clean the baby's stuff and everything. And the mom where? Oh she's busy. It's not easy to have a baby, I cried a lot those times I feel like I am the one suffering but after all they are big now. I'm passed the tasks and thank you for all the wonderful experiences babies and now I'm married so, no baby for now. I'm done!

I am a 17 old wishing for kids I have an amazing boyfriend but I know i need to fished my university because I can't just let my Bf do all the work. Agree with everything except the schedule idea. Trying to force what you think should be happening on a little person is only going to piss off the little person and frustrate you. Instead of implementing a schedule, learn your child's schedule, they will develop their own bedtime, their own nap times and eating times and they will be consistent, you kust have to be realistic and not expect a new born to sleep through the night, or do much more then eat, sleep, poop.

Like a 2nd mother since 8 yrs.old Too young to take care of baby. Younger siblings needs to have parents but parents are at work. So older sister needs to take care of younger sister. We're 9 and I'm the 5th. A lot of tasks at home. At the teenage life, baby sit with my cousins 2 years old and below. Oh I feel like I'm a back up mother of their real mother. You know the crying that they want their own mom and running around everywhere like they don't stop. Carry here, carry there, carry baby everywhere. Making milk, wash baby's clothes, do the poopy pop, clean the baby's stuff and everything. And the mom where? Oh she's busy. It's not easy to have a baby, I cried a lot those times I feel like I am the one suffering but after all they are big now. I'm passed the tasks and thank you for all the wonderful experiences babies and now I'm married so, no baby for now. I'm done!
