I like how I can confidently say that Alpharad was mashing like crazy this whole game and Jo was not, since Alpha was constantly using his super by accident and Jo never did.
Love Jacob confirming he's a masher with the specials. You have to hit strike while hitting the ball to activate specials in this and he fully never realized
For most characters yea, but with Beat specifically you actually have to hit jump while in mid-air. It's the only character in the game with that specific super activation.
I have LL Blaze (...that somehow sounds like a rap name lol), and I usually play Jet and Raptor, both are fun, but if I want to just mess around in training, I tend to use Candyman, and I love him...To me, Raptor somehow gives off the vibe of TF2's Scout, but if he wasn't as annoying...Maybe it's the bat... Dear Alpha & Mr. Sniffy, this is my awesome and cool and nice way of telling you that you have to hit the attack button 2 times when you have four bars to activate a character ultimate (at least in Blaze, but I’m 95% sure it works here, alpha might’ve just been hitting the button twice w/o noticing bc the game is so fast & chaotic, I found out that’s why I was doing ults but not my friend). In Blaze (and I think this version) each character also has unique ball angles, a unique movement option (like skate, wall cling, glide, sliding through walls, etc), and a unique ultimate. I think you can also shield the ball from being hit out of your charge hit by holding the A button or something, idk I forgot. Thanks for the content tho, have a nice day, byeeee :)!
Yeah, all of the mechanics you listed (except for the ball shield) is in the original Lethal League as well. Thank you for leaving such a kind and respectful comment!
Funnily enough, this is true for all characters, except Switch (Jo's character). Because Switch activates his special by pressing Jump in the air or after he hits the ball.
Specials are activated by pressing the swing button a second time (during the ball's "hitlag") Switch's special is a kickflip, during which the skateboard is an active hotbox and is the only one in the game activated not in the normal way. Instead you press jump while in the air. Bar is only consumed on hit. In Lethal League Blaze it can be used in the same way as other specials and changes your angle from the normal one to the kickflip one. It's also activated by pressing taunt in the air instead of jump.
NO FUCKING WAY THEY PLAYED THIS HOLY SHIT. This totally rules. PS Be sure to play Bomb Rush Cyberfunk, the newest game by these devs, a spiritual successor to jet set radio, coming out August 18. Would be totally cool to play it on release too
Respect for not knowing the controls Almost finding the controls But still beating alpha while he either "knew" the controls or wouldn't tell you the controls All I remember about the skateboard board dude's ult is he does a kick flip animation with it while in the air don't know what it does tho
to add on, I think alpha didn't really know the controls but knew enough and switches super makes him do a kick flip on the ball which launches it at wild angles
@@Spaghettitron if it works the way it does in blaze, it has 3 different angles depending on where you hit the ball and if you hit the ball with the super after falling from the ceiling. (I know I’ve only played blaze but I’m just guessing that maybe you can still cast the super by taunting mid air? I’m not sure)
This probably won't be seen. but the speed of the ball doubles everytime you spike it from the air, and you can press the bunt button while you're hitting the ball to parry. It consumes your meter, but if they hit the ball while you parry, they get knocked back and will get hit. That's the mind game where it all becomes about reads and getting in their head. Also Jacob was likely just mashing and accidentally activating Super, you just press the hit button a second time while in contact with the ball with full meter. The only character I think that has a different Super method is coincidentally Switch, who Jo was playing.
This entire video is an Icarus moment. Every single time Jacob said something like "It's over" or "You're so dead", Jo would hit it back and Jacob would lose a stock, lol
Plenty of comments already explained the controls, but I want to put out the answer to "what do you do when the ball speed goes too high" If you look at the Boombox at the bottom, the "Volume" is actually the countdown till when the ball starts moving following a hit. At higher speeds the hit lag on the ball is so high but the speed of the ball is so fast that the best way to reliably counter it is to rely on the Volume meter at the bottom and try your best to jump to your opponent and hit the ball as soon as the hit lag ends.
Here's a bullet list of things to know if you try Lethal League Blaze in order of most to least important in my opinion: - When you hit the ball, you get put in hitlag which increases as the balls speed increases. The boombox at the bottom has a bar that fills up as the ball gets moving again. - Almost all supers are activated by pressing Swing while in hitlag while you have a full meter (Switch is an exception. You press jump in the air (in Lethal League)/ press taunt in the air (Lethal League Blaze)). You get one meter by hitting/throwing the ball, and two if you hit a ball that was bunted. - If you press Bunt while in hitlag, you empty your super bar and parry for as long as you hold the button. Parrying extends the time in hitlag, and if someone tries to hit the ball while you parry then they clank and you get full super. - As a counter to parries, you can grab the ball if someone's parrying it.
I love that switch is probably one of the strongest characters because of his kickflip angle being really shallow but he is just so unintuitive to guess how he works that he is just the funny robot with skateboard
Hey Jo! If you haven't recorded Blaze yet, take note; The volume thing on the boombox shows you when the ball is gonna release, great for timing when you should react... Also hitting the ball after bunting gives you two bars of your meter. Rooting for ya bud! (He ain't gonna see this but I need it to be out there for him) One last thing that is my favourite thing to do; Playing as Latch, if you have your super when you win, you can use your special on corpses to eat them... my friend absolutely hated when I did that
Candyman is *perfect* for Alpha, because... Well, one word: Shenanigans! All characters also have a passive ability in Blaze (The newest Lethal League game, it's really fun), such as Switch being able to skate up the walls and along the ceiling, Raptor having a double jump and wall jump, and Latch basically being Knuckles without the glide.
The meter gain in this game is actually pretty fair. It's mostly dependent on you comboing the ball with your serve. ( So hitting the ball more than once) Every character has an option to combo the ball it's just you gotta tech the ball with the bunt button and hold jump to do some advanced jumps into angle or smash attacks. Which you can do combo chains in this game if you know where your characters angles are gonna hit on each stage. Each stage does have different angles tho so you just gotta lab those. Also I was gonna say it's kinda of funny Alpha said he picked the top tier but joe also picked the next best top tier lol. Switches ability is that he can switch his sharp angles in reverse when he taunts or does a special. But the games mostly balanced anyway because most of the tier list is based on the characters angles and supers but honestly it's not that bad. You just learn your characters angles and the other characters angles and your good. Also if ya'll think dead body juggles are petty you haven't seen people combo after more than one hit lol. It's actually pretty cool when it happens.. You can straight-up put people in a combo slide show.
I saw Lethal League in the thumbnail and I am ecstatic. You guys should check out the sequel blaze. It adds one more way to smack the ball for a full rock paper scissors of countering.
I find it kind of funny how good Alpha is at this game on a technical level but doesn’t even know how to trigger the special (in the sequel, you just double tap the hit button, idk if it’s different in this one). I’d love to see Lethal League Blaze at some point-the OG is great, but Blaze improves the formula so much.
“Recently” bro blaze has been out for 4 years. I miss playing that game at launch, playing it in person with friends and wiping the floor with them after playing so much of the OG. Then I went online and got destroyed. I miss this game so much.
iirc each character has their own movement mechanic thingy, switch can skate on the walls, latch can latch onto the wall, and candyman can teleport through the wall like his ult does if he crouches as he hits it. it's either like that in both or just blaze
@@tylercoon1791 how dare you. We should revive this game not as a meme. It was so fun when blaze went on gamepass and there were actually enough players to get an online match. And I live for the day I can play ranked again.
I searched the abilities of the character and for switch its: Movement Switch can wall-ride by jumping at the wall. He can hold this wall-ride until he either lets go or reaches the opposite upper corner. Special Power You can use Switch's special power in three different ways: Jumping and then jumping again while in midair Crouching and then jumping again Jumping during the hitlag created by an overhead smash This special in its raw form, when one uses a jump input whilst midair to hit the ball, has little hitlag. When used during hitlag it launches the ball at a predetermined shallow angle, which can be only manipulated by changing the launch direction to either left or right. Use of this special during his smash is sometimes known as a "Quickflip" and is made more effective with use of a bunt, significantly reducing hitlag. Like many other specials, no additional hitlag is generated when using his special in this way. This means it's much more beneficial to use his overhead special at the end of hitlag rather than the beginning.
There's a sequel to this game called "lethal league blaze". Also, they're making a spiritual successor to "Jet Set Radio adio" called "Bomb Rush Cyberfunk"
Lethal league and Lethal League Blaze tips: Everyone special movements from Candyman able to slide though walls from Switch able to slide on walls. In order to do special moves, you press the swing button 2x immediately when you have full bar. Swing: keeps momentum of the ball going faster Bunt: lowers the speed slightly but the ball becomes neutral until it bounces on the ground. Grab: Keeps the ball in the same speed but throws off the timing of release.
Alpha, so to be kind. (Note I have been mainly playing blaze, so some things might not apply) 1 specials aren't "automatic" they activate from pressing attack twice after hitting. 2 every level has different sizes making the bounce patterns slightly different. 3 switch's special shoots the ball in a super wierd pattern that. I think Jo has the Hardest Character to play, because you have to taunt while hitting the ball in Mid air to Kickflip the Ball I don't, or ever will Blame Joe for needing to know that you have to Taunt on the Ball in midair to use your meter
If you run and then crouch you can slide a little bit and Candyman has a cool passive ability where if you slide into a wall it will teleport you to the other side of the map.
I would love for you to play blaze and then more after gold is finished. This game is extremely fun and it seems like you two are really enjoying it. I'm a candy main myself, he's just a funny guy
You gotta love how confidently Jacob lies about this game and doesn't tell Jo to hit the attack button again while in the hit animation to trigger the special. so much fun to bully big little brother, right? ^_^
That wouldn’t even help since Switch uses a unique command for his specials where he has to hit the jump button instead. All that would’ve done is made Jo even saltier when he tried to do what Jacob said and it still doesn’t work. Edit: And before anyone says that Jacob could’ve told him about Switch’s unique gimmick, do any of you remember Melee Falcon’s Nipple Spike, where his Down Air has all of its hit boxes as meteor’s except for the chest area being a spike hit box instead? Or that Link’s Sex Kick doesn’t turn off its hit boxes until all animations related to the move have completely stopped, meaning he can still “kick” you despite already going back to his neutral aerial pose? People don’t remember jank or gimmicks related to a specific character unless the character is really popular or they themselves main said character.
I'd say i love lethal league but I've only really listened to the music and watched the game nit played it myself so it wasn't until i looked down here that i realised this isn't blaze
Just letting you know you can angle the ball shots, the neutral swing specifically, all charecters can aim their swing than just hitting downward and normal
Meter moves are so dumb in Lethal League. To viewers at home, Jo's character's meter is activated by pressing jump twice & he spins his skateboard to hit the ball. Kinda dumb it's never explained and there's no options for a move list. Blaze is a lot better about all of this & I can't wait to see them play that on Gold.

People don’t remember jank or gimmicks related to a specific character unless the character is really popular or they themselves main said character.
id love to see the sequal as well lethal league blaze is one of the best fighters ever
Wow they turned the gannon boss foght into it's own game😂
ganon's ballin fr 🥶🥵
I recommended this day one, I knew my favorite RUclipsrs, Alpharad and Plus, wouldn't let me down.
Grr
@@manjackson2772 Grrr
I'd say i love lethal league but I've only really listened to the music and watched the game nit played it myself so it wasn't until i looked down here that i realised this isn't blaze
Just letting you know you can angle the ball shots, the neutral swing specifically, all charecters can aim their swing than just hitting downward and normal
Lethal league blaze is phenomenal, i hope after bomb rush cyberfunk team reptile start work on a third lethal league game
candyman mains unite
also jo picked the most complicated character to play lmao especially when neither of you know how specials work
Meter moves are so dumb in Lethal League. To viewers at home, Jo's character's meter is activated by pressing jump twice & he spins his skateboard to hit the ball. Kinda dumb it's never explained and there's no options for a move list. Blaze is a lot better about all of this & I can't wait to see them play that on Gold.
On episodes like these, I wonder how they are still friends
I think I saw Jo's char eat shit with a full bar and it acted as armor? IDK tho. Have a good day!
i love this game, i played this 2 years ago and forgot all about it until now. thanks for reminding me!
Jacob is full on gaslighting Jo wtf 😂!
I really, really hope Jo is having a good day. A Wednesday, in particular.
I love lethal league but none of my friends play it with me
I'm so glad you played Lethal League. I played this game religiously back in 2015.
I used to play this game with my friends on my family computer in middle school and I always turned the volume way down whenever there was a candy man so my mom didn't hear him say dam it damn it damn it
the meter does do something, alpha just spams hit when he tries to hit the ball so it always activates for hin, while you (jo) are only pressing the button once and so are never activating it
also have a nice day
Let’s gooo 700k special!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Lethal league is so slept on, God I love this game.
Edit: PLEASE play Blaze. That game is an absolute banger
The special doesn't just happen, you have to double tap the ball. Also, the meters don't fill faster per character, a special is ready every 4 hits.
