That original spare tire may be worth saving. I remember those first generation radials. Dad was still heavily invested in using only bias plies back then ...😎
We called those the banana split edition back in the day,. I worked at gmc/Buick dealer it was hard to sell those because it was overpriced for what you got and the banana cream color didn't appeal to a lot of people.. That one has a Pontiac motor in it (301cid).. Because it is actually a rebadged Bonneville..
Whoa Nelley, rare, rare, rare, rare. LI Mopars was just asking about this model on a different channel (Classic Ride Society). Your title says 1978, but this is a 1979 model year vehicle. There were 4,001 of these made for the 1979 model year and I believe most were destined for southern US locations such as Florida, but obviously this one is a long way away from there. Not "Limited Edition", but just "Limited". The "P" in the VIN denotes a LeSabre Limited. "F" denotes LeSabre Sport Coupe. I believe the RPO code for this Palm Beach option was WB9. We got the VIN, we win: 4 for Buick, P for LeSabre Limited, 37 for two door coupe, Y for 4.9L (301 CID) V8 with two barrel, Pontiac produced, aka RPO code "L27", aka "The Rodney Dangerfield of Pontiac V8s", 9 for 1979 model year, H for Flint, MI assembly and the rest is the production sequence. The Flint, MI plant was the Buick "home" plant and operated from 1904 to 1999 and was called Buick City for a number of years. Nothing wrong with the Pontiac 301 if you realize that it's an economy car engine. The "problem" with them are the "mechanics" that attempt to "fix" them as I have said time and time again. Nothing more. 1979 is the last year for the two-barrel version of the 301 CID V8. The four barrel version is a VIN code "W" and was available from 1978-1981 and was RPO code "L37". My uncle had a 1980 LeSabre with one. No tag, can't brag, but easy to figure out, no doubt: 79 for 1979 model year, 4BP37 for Buick (4) LeSabre Limited (BP) two door (37), FL1 for Flint, MI assembly, 11L and 84U for White lower and Yellow Beige upper two-tone exterior paint, 03A, B, C, etc., for a given week of March 1979 production, maybe AM6 for split front bench seat with center armrest, possible code 964 for Yellow Beige interior trim, among other codes. In rust we do not trust.
I adjusted the year. This car being up here is not uncommon with many people having a vacation home in Florida. I have never seen one of these before. It looks like it's more rare than I thought.
Wow, another one. I remember seeing one up here. I thought the color coding of the trim and grill was very cool and probably expensive to do for a mass produced automobile. They rode and drove nice.
@@LongIslandMopars It had a GM RPO code assigned to it, so it might have been done offline after the vehicle was built or some of the parts were vendor supplied in color/that way.
Two doors are scarce & especially special editions like this Palm Beach which is all there. Some rust & a good detailer can get the mice hotel cleaned out & up! Surprised the yard didnt try to sell it whole. Sad seeing cars like this one ending up scrapped & crushed.
Back in 1992 when I was 16. There was a middle-aged woman she might have been in her fifties at the time. She had one of these and she only drove it during the spring and summer months. It looks showroom New in 1992 and 93 and it was a 79 model. She had worked in the JCPenney in the mall as a perfume counter person sales lady. She used to shop at the grocery store where I packed groceries. I used to go and collect the shopping carts so I could go out into the parking lot and see what type of cars the people over 55 years old were driving. If there was an older car I liked I would give them my phone number period and told them if they ever wanted to sell such and such car to give me a call

Radials were a game changer for older cars and still are. They ride a lot better with them.
@googleusergp yep
@@LongIslandMopars Could be but not sure I would really trust a 45 year old tire very far.
