this is a very cool idea, but at $440 I think you could throw 200 ~ 300 into a good starting guitar and have more than enough left over for a good pocket amp like the Spark Go. Same benefits as this but you can choose (and upgrade to) whatever you'd like.
I think these mini amps are fun, but I don't feel they are particularly satisfying to play as a true practice amp. Sometimes they are cool to just riff with and maybe write guitar lines- but for real, long term practice I think an 8" speaker and 15 watt amp are the minimum. The Peavey Backstage II comes to mind, at $99 it would probably last a good 10 years, at which point you'll know if you're ready to upgrade!
