You're right about the pink guards being also normal and probably younger civilians in debt and probably have never held a firearm before, but the older contestants turning the tables on the guards because they do know how to operate a weapon from their time doing mandatory service and the guards not expecting the contestants to completely blindside them like this.

I really like this scene cuz most recruiters are just kids they probably never been to the mandatory Korean army duty yet, where most players are all veterans and some of them are even marines, so it completely make sense why they won in the beginning, I also love how one of the main reason (Besides you know what) they lose is because they are running out of ammo which is very realistic, many Hollywood action films completely forgot about that.
The players won because they have more experience and an actual plan, which is very smart. Also the fact that most male players will have been to mandatory service in military and the guards are mainly younger and haven't been to military so the players have more advantage in using guns and fighting. That's an important little detail.
