I am SO tired of the ADHD excuse! My son is definitely ADHD, and it is exhausting to parent him, but we do our best to hold him accountable. I remind him regularly that his actions affect those around him and have consequences. No kid should be on a desk or table at school. If your kid is acting like an animal at school, you need to do more at home, as the parent, to teach and instruct your kid. Do better, homeschool him awhile so you can instruct him on his behaviors and reactions, teach him to respect others. She made a comment about the teacher invading his personal space? Really? The lady was probably trying to maintain control of your circus. If she abused him, she's wrong, but dear Lord parents need to step up!

When your child is standing on the desk and ready to jump and be chased...........what exactly do you want teacher to do? I've been a SPED aide and these children are disruptive and plain obnoxious. I realize it's not the child's fault they have a disability; but seriously how can a teacher and other students be expected to teach/learn when one child needs a SPED aide with them constantly to mitigate this crap.

I don't think you should fight a kid but you can't let your kid run wild and dont give him its ok because you have ADHD excuse. He is disturbing class and one problem student doesn't get to disrupt the whole class. But as a teacher if you don't get help from the school or the parents it gets frustrating. Kick him out film his violence dont put your hands on him because even though it probably would teach him a real world lesson, your an adult and don't want to end up in jail because the parents think its ok the kid abused the teacher . I got mixed feelings about this one.
The district definitely told this teacher that her complaints about this kid were counting against her job.
"She's invading his personal space." Yeah, that tends to happen when an out-of-control child is acting up.
"Instead of just letting him calm down." Yeah, with 20+ "special needs" students in the class, the teacher has time for that.
The teacher -- based upon the photograph -- doesn't look like someone I'd want teaching my child; however, the mother seems to be unrealistic about how things have to work in a classroom.
Nothing described by the mother sounded to me like abuse; it sounded like the teacher was trying to gain control of the violent student, who was lightly injured in the process. As for the barely-visible bruises: When I was a child, such things were a normal, DAILY result of simply being a boy.
If her child is THAT out-of-control, he should be kept at home. Too many parents put the burden of raising their children on the shoulders of the school/teacher.

Special ED teacher doesn't have the ability/patience to deal with an ADHD kid? Doesn't sound qualified for the job to begin with...
Shame on the "teacher" and the parents. That child is not suitable for public appearances.

ADHD is the easiest disability to fix. Medications today are not like the early ones that narcotized the kid.

I don't know how long she has been teaching. It sounds like she may have been at the end of her rope. Sad a child was hurt. Maybe a parent should be with the child if he is such a disruption to class.

I only see a few scratches on the kid. It is a very stressful to deal with kids with adhd, and it is understandable teacher gets frustrated. please give the teacher a break.

How about putting cameras in your house inside and out, in your vehicels and let's see how you have and are discipling your child. ADD /AHD or not many parents throw it onto the teachers to train their abusive children and when child acts up it ia automatically the teachers fault. Not always. I do not support child Abuse in any format. Marks on the kid could have been from staff protecting the kids from his actions and the other kid's from his actions. Parents cannot handle their own kids ACTIONS but expect everyone else to deal with their kid's BEHAVIORAL ISSUES!!! HOW MANY MARKS, BRUISES, SCRATCHES HAS THIS KID HAD, HAVE CAUSED AT HOME???
