Timestamps: H. G. Wells - The Time Machine (2:39) Philip K. Dick - A Maze Of Death (3:54) Hermann Hesse - Demian (5:00) Kurt Vonnegut - Slaughterhouse 5 (6:03) George Sourrys - The Synchronicity Of Ulysses (7:54) Paulo Coelho - The Alchemist (9:28)
I thought George would be like "Gotcha hehe, here's the real no. 1" after presenting Paul Coelho's "The Alchemist" but it just didn't happen. Is this a joke?
Hesse is my favorite author as well, Steppenwolf being my favorite book by him! I own a copy of Demian as well though. Haven't read it in awhile and don't really remember it. Will have to revisit it.
“Demian” is practically a primer of Jungian psychology. Shadow, anima, dreams, self, synchronicity, individuation - it’s all in there, woven in in a truly artistic manner. Well worth reading! (P.S. What about “Solaris” by Stanislaw Lem?)
Nice. I’ve read most of these, but looking forwards to the rest plus rereading others. Did you happen to list somewhere the metaphysical novels you appreciate, but didn’t include on the list?
Slaughterhouse Five is way deeper than people realize. MINOR SPOILER when people read that book and think the aliens are literally real it triggers me...
The Synchronicity of Ulysses -
An excellent modern day philosophical novel, available on Amazon: mybook.to/sou

It's only worth reading if you like having your time wasted.

I’m curious, any books with female lead characters?
The Alchemist is insightful, and influenced me to change career, although taking advice from fiction is not necessarily right.
I would also recommend Hesse's Steppenwolf
I hope Philosophy vibes makes videos on metaphysics

Six months in 1977, by Kit McQuinn. Came out last year. Retro vibe on coming of age and personal identity.
I think some works of Carlos Castaneda are pretty good too
Slaughterhouse Five is way deeper than people realize.

Make a video on Subjective Vs Objective Reality
So, "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" did not make it. Sigh...
Hesse, as well! 🖊️ 📜
Watching your videos i can't figure out are two of you are atheists or theists. So please tell ne are your atheists or theist ?
Demian is one of the most poorly written novels of all time. Among the worst books I have ever read.
