    If you anchor down in the same spot, every day, and never catch a fish I'll still watch the videos. I like FISHING. The anticipation of a fish is priceless even if the fishing is slow. I really like those blue lights. Let's do it again! Peace

    Hey I seen this trick that Mike semdily uses as a stripper guide. He takes a small piece of a rubber bass worm or twister tail grub. An put the small piece on the hook before his live gizzard shad then hook the shad. Slide that rubber pice down on to the shad an it will keep him from sliding up the hook an double hook up. Works great.

    Stupid question, but is that like aquarium tubing that you have over your hook? Is that supposed to help with abrasion resistance? Second question. Its been a long time since I have catfished and I can't decide which line to put on my reels (Abu 6500). What pound test mono would you put on those reels? It looks like you have some similar. I have been saltwater fishing too long and I have the mindset of fishing lighter line to have the capacity to let the fish run. I've seen videos of people catfishing and they just crank down and don't let the fish run, so I am thinking I might need to step up in poundage than what I am thinking. Thanks for this awesome tip with the fish finder btw, I am in the process of getting my Jon boat rigged out and I have not thought about doing that.

    I'm wondering if you can make a video specifically for bank fishing for flathead. I know 'Ol Catfish Dave has quite a few, but he doesnt go into what exactly to look for when it's a new spot and you don't know what's out there in the water. Loved the video man it was real fishin' just the way I learned how to anchor when my parents taught me. Anchor technique really does matter, especially in rivers or lakes that draw water a lot.

    Excellent tutorial on boat positioning, Hagen. Thanks for posting.
    I fish the upper Mississippi above St Louis from a boat set up almost like yours but not as nicely. We double-anchor every time.
    I saw when you were marking the tree under water at the first set-up, I didn't see any thing that looked like fish signal there. Was I missing something? Do you usually see or look for fish on the screen when you set up?

    • @hagengrubbsfishing
      @hagengrubbsfishing  4 года назад +1

      If I’m blue cat fishing I like to see some life on the screen but if I’m flathead fishing I just go by structure. The tree in the video wasn’t as nasty as I normally fish but was the biggest tree for about a mile so I gave it a shot. Thank you for watching.

    Those r the perfect size to catch imo. I think all these videos people r putting out with nothing but big fish is not what 90 % of us go out for. In my opinion u had a very successful trip and was very blessed. But in stead of being grateful for it and proud of a good fishing trip u had just because u didn’t catch a monster u seemed like u was sad. I bet we all would love to go out and catch what u did. And r u teaching that boy that only a big monster is a success or r u teaching him to b greatful for what u did catch. A lot of us can’t even go out and catch anything

    • @hagengrubbsfishing

      A lot of us aren’t satisfied with dinks. If I start catching channel cat I reel up and move, not what I’m after. Some guys target just channel cat, to each their own.
      And don’t think he’s teaching that boy to not be grateful at all. Landon will be a great fisherman when grows, he already has the knowledge and ability to out fish a lot of grown men.

      Yes that is aquarium hose. I think it helps some with abrasion but the main reason I use it is to hold the rattle up above the hook. I believe those rattles can alter a hook set by the way there shaped. As far as the line I use 40lb big game. If I were fishing places with little or no current all the time I would use 30lb but I feel better with the 40 in the strong current that I fish sometimes. Thank you for watching👍
