    Awesome build. I know Garth from way back Tuff Truck / Woodpecker days and he is a legend. Great to see the total professional build of a master builder. So much knowledge has gone into that build. It's a beast!!!

    Wow an amazing build. Love the slider boxes and the mounting of the winch, reminds me of the old front mounted landrover PTO winch that could be run under the vehicle through the chassis to actually pull the vehicle backwards. Incredible build Stefan, thanks for sharing the walk through.

    awesome build stefan. the best offroad youtuber i know thats into touring and hard wheeling.
    it would be great to get more detail on the slider boxes and how they drive. id imagine they would be quiet noisy.
    also expand on your quote that engineers are no longer into working with custom builds, too many politics i assume

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  7 месяцев назад +1

      thank you. I wasn't sure either how Lux drives with slide boxes, but quite surprised and not noisy.
      Most engineers I know stopped engineering 4WD due to much police pressure; a few were taken to court (and won), but it was too much hassle for them. It's sad to see what Australia has become over the past 20 years. I'm not a political person and usually refrain from this type of comment, but we sadly have become the number-one Nanny country.

    That braking test sounds extremely difficult for older vehicles. Sounds like most old cars would fail standard.

      yes no way any stock older Hilux would have past the Plate Brake test

    Did you investigate options to get rid of the front leaf springs Stefan? I’m currently working with an engineer to install a three link/ coilover setup in a first Gen 4Runner and luckily have a supportive engineer.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  7 месяцев назад +1

      no as I mentioned previously I wanted to keep leave and for a play truck leave works very well. 3 or 4 link coil over very different car

    Would love to hear the engineers justification for allowing suck an increase in wheel track. I know you havent gone over 50mm track increase on the jeep diffs you have used. But i have always been told by engineers in NSW that it doesnt matter what diffs/axles are used, you still cant go more than 50mm increase from the factory spec for the original vehicle.
    The engineer i used last said he has had a lot to do with track correction kits for the 79 series cruiser, and as they have to be over 50mm wider to match the front, he hasnt been able to find away the authroities will allow it without being a second stage manufacture, pre rego.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  8 месяцев назад

      There is no track increase. We replaced the complete undercarriage, and it's the normal Jeep track width. Only works if you replace complete axle housings. The track width increase is limited because of the extra load you put on components if you increase more than 25mm per side. That is not the case here, as there is no increase.

    • @bennyjahmin3953
      @bennyjahmin3953 8 месяцев назад

      @AlloffroadAu
      Yeah I mentioned that you haven't increased the Jeeps track width, but it isn't a jeep.
      When I got my GQ patrol engineered with GU diffs under it I wasn't allowed to go more than 50mm from the factory GQ track width. He did however let me upgrade the GVM from 2.8t to 3.3t without any specific components or extra tests like brake and swerve tests.
      It's a little frustrating how each engineer 'interprets' the rules differently.
      Anyway, not trying to be negative on such an epic build. It would be great to see more rigs like this able to be driven on the road.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  8 месяцев назад

      @@bennyjahmin3953 if you change the whole axle assembly the car takes on the rating/characteristics of the new axles I know that from from several engineers I used. Yep always depends what the engineer is willing to sign off on but as I said thats the same info I have received from quite a few engineers

    • @bennyjahmin3953
      @bennyjahmin3953 8 месяцев назад

      @AlloffroadAu
      The example I was given from an engineerr where this doesn't work is if you were to put something like those diffs under a suzuki sierra.
      Did you have to keep the wheel base the same as the jeep so it didn't affect the Ackerman jeep designed into their undercarriage?

    In Victoria I cannot even get my LN106 engineered to have 33" tyres. Every engineer says you cannot exceed vsb14 with is 2" bigger tyres and 2" lift which equates to the 3" vsb14 limit and it does not matter even if you can pass a lane change and brake tests.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  4 месяца назад

      Yeah I heard Victoria makes it very difficult now however there are quite a few jeeps on 37 engineered in Victoria.

      @@AlloffroadAu They may be done from a new vehicle pre rego. You can do upgrades on a new vehicle pre registration but if it is already registered then you are not allowed to get the same upgrades done. Just goes to show how stuipid the rules are. I did however ask a guy who was chief engineer for Holden about the pre rego builds and he did say that they are actually not allowed but I guess once Vicroads certifies the vehicle for road use then perhaps the responsibility is on them. I don't know where common sense is. It all seems illogical to me.

    • @AlloffroadAu
