PokeRogue is a unique rogue-lite experience set in the Pokemon universe. Unlike traditional Pokemon games, PokeRogue features procedurally generated worlds, meaning the map and encounters change with every playthrough. This injects a hefty dose of strategy and replayability, forcing you to adapt to ever-changing situations. Additionally, while it doesn't have permadeath like some Roguelike, PokeRogue offers a challenging experience that requires careful planning and resource management.
The Let's Try series is a way to preview / review games in order to get my first impressions through the first moments of gameplay.

Oh this game is very addicting once you get a hang of it, watch out. Since you were confused about your luck being "D". Luck is a mechanic that increases a chance an item drop will level up (so go from a Pokeball tier to Greatball tier, from great ball to ultra etc.) and increases the more shinies you have in your team. So yes, shiny Pokemon actually have an important gameplay purpose and the shiny gacha is the best to play!
I dont see anyone saying it in comments yet, but if you press your esc key you can go into settings and also use your egg vouchers via the egg gacha. Also you had a purple outline around treecko, that's a sign of pokerus for additional exp

One important thing to note is that floor hazard and stat changes are stay between wild battle, so if you got sand attacked by 1st stage mon on the 2nd stage you will still have you accuracy lowered. Until your pokemon _comeback_ to the ball.
Sleep normally lasts a random number of turns (1-3 in Gen 5 and onwards) but Rest is special and will always put you to sleep for 2 turns.
Any idea what the purple box around Treecko and some of the other starters means?
The purple box means the Pokemon starts with pokerus. Pokemon infected with pokerus gain more experience
Might have to try this myself before Nintendo yeets it.
Pretty sure this qualifies as fair use and isn't monitized so Nintendo has no recourse. If they did have recourse to shut it down, it would have already been served a cease and disist order.
That's fair to be honest, but just if ever Nintendo takes down this game too... then yet another premenition of WW3 would start.

@@Almethese84 as far as I recall and understand, checked again just in case, there's no fair use in Japan. I'm not sure about the legal international jumble that comes out of a person in another country with fair use launching and distributing material with their Japanese IP on it but they have in several occasions sent cease and desist notices. In fact, they even took down RUclips videos over their stuff before because RUclips would have to defend themselves individually in each country without fair use laws.

I saw other people check this out recently, and the first time I saw it, my brain said "Oh lord, Reto is gonna love this."
Pro tip, set up moves (Swords Dance, Shell Smash, etc.) persist between battles until you recall the mon (which happens at the beginning of every trainer battle). Hazards (spikes, stealth rocks, sticky webs, T-Spikes) stick around for 5 battles.

Instantly the start up sound is the same one thats in explorers of sky when your answering the questions for witch pokemon u become. The nostalgia 😭😭

Luck is related to the odds of the pokeballs that have items in it after each battle, upgrading to higher tier balls thus giving you better items.
And this is where shiny pokemon come into play, shiny pokemon in your team increase your luck stat, thus giving you better chance of getting better items after each battle.
In this game each pokemon has 3 diferent shiny variants, normal, rare and rogue.
Normal shiny pokemon have a luck value of 1.
Rare shiny have a luck value of 2
Rogue shiny have a luck value of 3.
Because shinies are kinda important in this game, the shiny egg gacha ends up being the best option.
I'd absolutely love to see more of this I loved your Pokemon Emerald Rouge and to me this seems like Emerald Rouge 2.
This fangame is amazing by the way passives once unlocked are secondary abilities that are just there for that pokemon evolution line at least if you pick it at start (bosses also have that pokemons passive but lose it once caught sadly)
The low view count makes me so sad, this Let's Try is awesome! Maybe keep playing it and see if another episode or two helps?
oh don't worry, my views are terrible across the board the last month, this is my 2nd highest viewed video of the week which is itself sad for a different reason lol. The first few episodes of Hades 2 were obviously good but everything else dove off a cliff, I'd say this did well enough for another episode at least.

I was very impressed to learn that you were the one who influenced the creation of rainbow mode in gungeon, a mode that I still enjoy playing up to this day !

of course reto gets further in his first run than the poketubers I watched, don't know what I expected
It's probably because pokemon has a higher floor than generally rouglites and that you need to use the rouglite effectively to get to where incredible pokemon knowledge matters

You will change idea after learning a few things xD (or find someone better with the same mechanic)
Also, double battles are a way to get more exp quickly if you need it or have a good combo (like earthquake and someone qith levitate or is flying)

Started playing this since the active player count was 500, def one of the best pokemon game, btw candies are used for passives (2nd ability) or point reduction
Seems pretty sweet honestly. Hopefully everything is tuned properly to make for fair, yet challenging runs. Definitely something I'd try out.
as someone who has 6 and a half days of actual playtime into pokerogue, i'm really happy this is getting some attention and traction, it's a really fun game and I'm glad to see you are enjoying it

Man i was seeing this everywhere, was rly hoping you'd play, now I can binge this
I discovered the game through your video and I think I'm having more fun with this than I had with Pkmn Scarlet/Violet.
Also, some things to know if you decide to play more
1. There are 200 waves in classic mode, it will take a little bit to get through them all.
2. You can turn up the game speed in the settings to make things go faster, along with turning off the stats notif on level up, this will make the game much faster if it feels slow.
3. Some moves/abilities aren't fully implented! If you see an (N) next to something that thing will not work at all, if its a (P) it will work, but not fully. (eg. Incinerate(P) wont burn berries, Retailate(P) doesn't deal extra if someone died last turn)
4. The luck stat is only improved by shinies! This gives them an actual purpose other than "haha funny colour go brr"
5. You can stack as many berries/held items as you want on one pokemon!
This game gets really tough, especially if you choose to do it without retries enabled, i hope i get to see you play more of this!

I do recommend not really catching anything for the beginning of the game and just focus on leveling up your starter pokemon

More please for sure. I love pokemon and roguelite/likes. So having a series that is both played by my favorite roguelite/like youtuber would be awesome.
Im watching this while shiny hunting charmander. I love pokerogue its so fun and shinies are so cool in the game and have a function. Venipede is a great pokemon btw it evolves into scolipede and can get speed boost.

I am the type of pokemon trainer that tries to keep their pokemon at equal levels (or close to) to avoid my strongest mon dying and then not being able to do anything. Though I did notice that the style of the fights would make it difficult to do so (as ivysaur was your only mon at 18 after being the focus of EXP), I guess double battles as much as possible. This looks really exciting though :D

One tip always catch eevee's.. no really its mainly cause eevee is a mon you cant go wrong with in any senario
Quick tip, Shiny pokemon actually do something in this game. They boost the odds of higher rarity items showing up just by being in your party.

Hindsight is 20/20 moment, but had you gone ahead and used Sludge Bomb on that swap instead of growth, you may have 1 shot the Staravia. But like I said, hindsight and all that

So erm, how do you actually do anything? I click the stat screen and suddenly i am unable to get off the stat screen as its all keyboard controls with no instructions lmao, cant see any move descriptions or anything ingame until it comes to swapping at which point you've wasted your item. Fun game but needs work
never had that issue, the game does work and saying it doesn't because of one issue that you've had is a bit hasty

I know bidoof seems weak/boring but if it has “simple” as its ability and you teach it swords dance it becomes a legitimate sweeper, just sayin. Game looks fun!
