Funny enough in later games they actually changed from slots to other games. This was in part due to the regulations associated with the portrayal of gambling in some countries. But I’m sure the addictive elements of it didn’t help.
I'll play the slots in Pokémon because I don't stand to lose anything, but I won't gamble in real life either. That is the only way to get a Porygon, but I usually just do the money cheat and buy the coins. As annoying as it is to be hit by Hyper Beam, I never bother with it. It only has 5 PP, and it either misses or locks you up for a turn. There are much better moves, in my opinion, just as capable of a one-hit KO without the downside. BTW, hint for Gold, moves having low PP isn't really a problem in that one, for a reason you'll eventually find out 😂
I've done some minor sports betting but always small amounts and I'm very strategic but most of my "betting" has been in stocks which is not like a casino where the odds are actually against you. Oh good tip on hyperbeam thanks for that. Is it even worth getting a Porygon? Any particular note worthy thing about it?
@@pokelosophy I only ever got Porygon if I was going for all 150, which is something I haven't bothered to do in years. It's a normal-type Pokémon, and it's signature move is Conversion, which changes its type to match the type you're fighting against at the time. I can think of maybe 5 times that's useful, and all of them can be avoided if you just use a different Pokémon. Beyond that, it learns Psybeam, Recover, and Tri Attack, so if you want to get it into its mid-40s it behaves like an average Psychic Pokémon without the advantages of actually being Psychic in Gen 1. But its main attraction is that it's up there with Pinsir, Scyther, and Tauros in how hard it is to get one without cheating.
