      It's Vibranium - if you toss it away lightly, it comes back with many times more force

    I saw this on tv when it came out- the next day I had blue tights, a trash can lid and my bike...the neighbors probably thought i had gone nuts (granted, I was 5 years old)- lol!

    I used to watch this as a kid. Love how much he got advanced in the 2000s. My favourite is still Spider-Man.

    I still enjoy looking back at his one, especially the scenic background shots to where you can tell it is happening back in the 1970s and the motorcycle/hang glider combination stunt scene, also remembering that last one is from way before they had CGI!

    There is something charming about old movies
    The bad camera

    this is priceless! 1:48 is the best! the shield which looks like cheap, flimsy plastic takes an hour and a half to u-turn and whack the guy - then when it does the greatest sound effect in super hero action movie history is made! kudos captain america 1979!

      I'm not even sure that's a sound effect. I think they just tossed the plastic shield at the guy's back, and that's the sound it made.

    I remember this back in 87 on TV when i was 5 and thought it was horrible! i'm glad studios got their acts together when it comes to Marvel films with Blade and more.

    I really want this two movies on Blu- ray. You did such an Amazing job an the 1990 Captain America movie. It is Awesome in 1080p on widescreen.

    I got this DVD in 2012, shortly after it was issued, and watched it with my (then) eight-year-old godson. He described the first movie as "perfect." Six years later, he still hasn't seen "Captain America: The First Avenger" -- and has long expressed indifference to it.

    It would‘ve been interesting if Reb Brown made a special guest appearance on the Incredible Hulk TV-Series as Captain America,the role he portrayed on TV twice,in an episode in which the star-spangled man meets the emerald giant and they battle each other.

    wow... first 30secs alone are riff worthy. How can that guy keep a straight face, between the blue spandex, the cycle helmet and "old people are my friends". I'm sure after laughing so hard that he hurts, the guy would reply "How many people just got run over by my buggy you just let go after you pulled me out?" :P

    Captain America 2: Death Too Soon was originally shown in 1979 on CBS in 2 one hour episodes like it was a weekly show like The Amazing Spider-Man (1978) and The Incredible Hulk (1978).
    Both one hour episodes had an intro that ended with a yellow title card with the Captain America logo and a drawing of Cap from the corner piece of his Marvel Comics at the time.
    I wish Shout Factory would have included it as a bonus feature on the DVD.

    Reb Brown was a strong captain america,,,Big tough..i liked the Bike dynamics...matt Salinger was corny as Hell,,weak didn't really display cap,s Superior almost superhuman physical abilities,,red skull was smacking him around like he was nothing..you got to remember,,that super-soldier formula made him a powerhouse..hisFight&combat skills as well as his acrobat skills was crazy,,he barley gets tired,,,Chris Evans did the character perfect...Cap is a machine,,very Few superheroes can even Fuck with him in no level

      Lol. Yes. This was how it was on all the 70s and 80s hero tv shows. It actually has been said that in some of these shows, pedestrians and passerby’s really did not care and thought the heroes were ridiculous and crazy, unless they presented a bit of a problem to the public such as the hulk.
