Not just a Connacht thing, but the inconsistency of refereeing on offsides and crooked lineouts is dire (across the entire sport), but when they do bother to call, it's tends to go the way of the bigger teams. The refs blow for any percieved infraction at the breakdown, but ignore entire defensive backlines being meters offside, EVERY SINGLE TIME the ball is in play. What is the actual purpose of a linesman? Apart from guessing where a ball went of touch, they stand there gormlessly ignoring blatant rule breaks
Leinster conceded 15 penalties and two yellow cards , so to say you never get any calls Mack is not right, but as a Leinster man, I do agree Barret should have got carded and I too was flabbergasted that the TMO never called it. Rugby needs to get the refereeing a lot more consistent. Hard luck Connacht you put in a great second half
This needs to be spoken about openly more often. It seems as if every Rugby match has a few huge wrong calls. It really spoiled Rugby in my humble opinion.
Well done Mack.Spoken from the heart and obviously bugging him for some time.I have no doubt that many refs will have seen this and will think twice about any decisions with Connaught in the future.Nice to see honesty from a player and not the usual post match safe comments so as not to upset the ruling hierarchy.
@vincenthutton5488 Most scrum penalties is debatable. I am not only referring to fowl play. Between the refs and the television match officials it has become so technical that logic seems to have left the game.
I like this! Too many times, referees have an armchair ride in terms of criticism, and they are pampered to when the criticism comes. Massive lack of accountability so well done Mack.
Quite a few commenters here have said some silly things and should not be ascribed to Mack Hansen. There are comments that claim the referees are corrupt. Mack Hansen never said the referee, in this game or any other game, is corrupt. People should seriously consider the implications of calling someone corrupt before they put finger to keyboard. Just ignore the idiots who make such accusations.
Munster fan here but he's absolutely right. Whoever Connacht are playing they get reffed unfairly. I don't think the refs do it intentionally but they do tend to bring a subconscious bias to their performances. Usually this kind of bias is due to a lack of respect and arrogance not just to Connacht but to their own training and the sport in general. While it is in all of us this bias can be fixed with the proper training. This is nothing new in rugby especially, and Connacht have always been reffed off the pitch as long as I can remember. The sport has always had this arrogance problem. It's a problem that can be solved...but it won't.
The worst thing by far now about rugby is the TMO refereeing the game same as the VAR refereeing football matches. 100% rather watch club rugby now than the pros

Well said Mac 👏🏼 👌
The tackle wouldn't be checked because it's a Barrett and an all-Black,they'd never commit a foul.
The outcome of games these days are determined by the Refs not the players.
They might as well toss a coin and choose a winner!
Ridiculous comment! You obviously did not watch the Heineken cup last weekend!!!!
@vincenthutton5488 Most scrum penalties is debatable.
I am not only referring to fowl play.
Between the refs and the television match officials it has become so technical that logic seems to have left the game.
Bloody good for him, these officials get to operate with pure impunity and they need to be held accountable from time to time.
He needs to watch the Ulster match?!😂
I like this! Too many times, referees have an armchair ride in terms of criticism, and they are pampered to when the criticism comes. Massive lack of accountability so well done Mack.
If it was Bundy on golden balls Barrett it would be a red
Fair played to you, Mack.
Chris Busby is a bad ref. He always sides with the home team
You cant card one of the great Barrett bros now can you? Fair play Mack.
I think that's the point here. Refs still seem reticent to card certain players, and Barrett is one of them.
Some one on connaught team took law into their own hand and left Barrett with a bloody head, is that right?
Mac as usual on the Money. Im a Leinster supporter but couldn’t appreciate more the honesty and agree with his info.
Well said, needs to be vocalised more
Love your style Mack. Say it. You deserve your rant
Well said about time speak up mate 👍
I'm interested in what's going to happen after these comments, even as someone who supports leinster. i do things that some decisions should have been given to connacht. I'm more frustrated at leinster they shouldn't result in this and just play normally. Refreeing in the league has been bad for years, and nothing has been done about it. A card should have been giving to Barrett. i was surprised myself that it wasn't given
Some decisions..really...was 15 penalties and 2 cards not enough
Agree about the card, and it's possible Leinster wouldn't have got the try after that
Oh dear Mac. World Rugby will now never make you player of the year😂😂 ask Rassie he couldn’t get coach of the year even if he won 10 world cups in a row
He only won one and the award is of the year.. not coach of the World Cup. Then the boks go lose
@@SmcdMcd-d2kthe Boks had an 85% win rate this year. The Award is coach of the year, not just the games you cherry picked.
@ the boks lost a home game with no tries. Lost to Argentina. And played an extremely poor wales more then once and a very poor at the time Australia. Had a few one point wins, beat Portugal which any top 8 could do. And played the same teams more then 4 times.. not exactly world manager of the year is it
@@SmcdMcd-d2k they played and beat all the home nations, and all the southern hemisphere sides. That is, at current rankings, 6 out of 9 of the other top 10 ranked teams.
Tell me, why is it that you take wins by 1 point as not worthy wins but make such a big deal of the 2 Bok losses this year? They were both by one point. Try to be consistent.
Bulls have had 2 reds overturned
I feel your frustration
Absolutely 100% correct .... Connaught got shafted against Leinster yesterday... something smells in rugby...😡
Happens all the time in rugby now, bigger team versus smaller team, big team gets all the decisions, it was quite obvious during the world cup. Good on him for speaking out
As long as its not a South African speaking up its OK
Not everything has to be about South Africa
Glad you see it that way Mack .Now you know how Southern hemisphere teams get reffed against you Northern hemisphere teams.
yeah, we did see that at the RWC
@mahasamatman12 Listen buddy both France and Ireland had every opportunity to win. Unfortunately they have not learned that the pool games against Sa and Nz didn't mean anything, when the Southern hemisphere needs to win they know how and don't choke like your teams
@@CraigMinnie Lol, I guess stumbling from a lucky one-point win to the next one-point win with the help of friendly SH refereeing is certainly the ultimate best for this SA side. The All Blacks remain the true aristocrats of the game and will soon reclaim their rightful n°1 spot.
Shame, Connaught..so unfair and biased..robbed by referee 🤔
Good man. Legend, speaking the truth
Mack is no legend
You can take the MAN out of OZ but you cant take OZ out of the MAN 😎
At least he did not chew gum with his mouth open.
Busby was brutal last evening,
Mack is bang on the money. It was shocking, stinks of favouritism again with Dublin
There was a time in the match when the captain of Connacht asked the referee who was reffing the game, the referee or the Leinster supporters
Good mack for saying out about it I see all the time connacht play never get the call very poor referee and tmo officials
💯 agree shafted yet again,☘️
As a leinster fan i absolutely agree 💯 %
Connacht player Sean Jensen got a straight red for a tackle where he touched the head of the opponent with his shoulder while he was being tackled by another defender, Jensen approach was from the side and he made minimal contact with the opponent but he was still seen as guilty of a foul by the very experienced ref , if your opponent has a particular colour jersey you expect nothing from the officiating, this is what we have come to expect in the minnows of the game
Welcome to life as a connacht fan
Needs to be said. Inconsistent refereeing result in hesitant play and inconsistent playing.
Fair play, smack on the nail. Take a look at (S)Whitehouse refereeing Ulster. And not Munster.
Refereeing in the URC is the worst thing in the entire competition.
Mack at least talks about it honestly.
The whole thing stinks. Refs seem more concerned with being the centre of attention. Seriously, I'm convinced some of them think that we buy our season tickets and turn up each week, to see them in action. URC officiating needs disbanded and started up all over again.
How long is he going to be suspended for?
Well said Mack
All sport is subtly rigged. Rugby more than most. The tmo seems to be key in this, more so than the ref.
Great player and as a Munster man, I totally agree with him.
Tappe Henning does nothing, get someone else to help, get Egon Seconds! 😳😅
NO WORD OF A LIE!
